Welcome!

Hello, Msross1, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, like Operation Midnight Climax (band), may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines for page creation, and may soon be deleted (if it hasn't already).

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Ioeth (talk contribs friendly) 19:07, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Operation Midnight Climax (band) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Ecoleetage (talk) 02:14, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Operation Midnight Climax (band) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Rwiggum (Talk/Contrib) 03:24, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 04:07, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A few suggestions for your project

[edit]

Hey, I understand that the article you created was in good faith, so I figured I'd help where I can. I'm sure there are plenty of Canadian bands that are notable that don't have wikipedia pages. I did a google search for "Canadian bands" and "up-and-coming Canadian bands) and found plenty of results. I also found this page with a decent list of groups, although I didn't have time to check and see if they had pages or not. Again, good luck, and drop me a line on my talk page if you have any more questions. Cheers! Rwiggum (Talk/Contrib) 04:25, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I was wondering why so many Edmonton bands were being created this evening. Please have whoever gave you this assignment read through Wikipedia:Notability (music) as to what is required for an article to remain. Also please have them read Wikipedia:School and university projects which should help. They can contact me on my talk page if they want. A note about your project

[edit]

Just to let you know, your teacher is welcome to make an account on wikipedia and come ask for help in pointing you guys toward projects where you can help improve Canadian articles. She doesn't need to give her name or anything, just make an account and come to the Wikipedia:Help desk or see the Wikipedia:FAQ/Schools. There are people who would be willing to help if asked and it would probably mean you folks could end up doing article work that doesn't get deleted. Either way, good luck with your project.
