[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Trevor Hoffman, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Specifically per MOS:NOPIPE, generally do not replace redirects with piped links. —Bagumba (talk) 01:10, 2 December 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Bagumba. Thanks for your input. What was un-uniform regarding the Trevor Hoffman article, for future reference. Mrmaxor (talk) 02:00, 2 December 2023 (UTC)
- Hi there. It was referring to this edit. Linking to Florida Marlins, a redirect, is fine. It generally does not need to be piped to Miami Marlins —Bagumba (talk) 02:05, 2 December 2023 (UTC)
Official HOF voting figures.
[edit]Why do you keep tampering with links and HOF voting numbers? And why do you keep changing the names of the committees to Veterans? Omnis Scientia (talk) 16:19, 16 December 2023 (UTC)
- There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. Omnis Scientia (talk) 16:28, 16 December 2023 (UTC)
- Sorry for the confusion @Omnis Scientia. I was just referring to baseball reference numbers and voting ballot numbers because of a few discrepancies I noticed. I rounded up numbers to three significant figures. I am more than happy to revert my edits if they are causing problems. Mrmaxor (talk) 23:51, 16 December 2023 (UTC)
- Also, my reasoning for for just changing committees to "Veterans" was for simplicity's sake, but I can revert those edits if it is problematic. Mrmaxor (talk) 01:04, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
- Firstly, I apologize for the hasty way I reported you. As another user pointed out, there is a WP:DONTBITE policy about newcomers and I very much bit. I had a shit day and I acted on my emotions. I'll be telling the admin to close my report.
- As for your edits:
- 1) Please add an edit summary explaining your edits; it is part of the reason I took you to be a vandal. So mention that the voting figures came from Baseball-Reference.com.
- 2) The committee names are not called Veterans Committee anymore so do not change them. There is not one committee but four. Here are the names:
- Veterans Committee
- Negro Leagues Committee
- Three from 2010-2016:
- Pre-Integration Era
- Golden Era
- Expansion Era
- Four since 2016:
- Early Baseball
- Golden Days
- Modern Baseball
- Today's Game
- The way they vote differs so it is important to distinguish them.
- 3) I don't know where you are getting the voting figures for pre-2007 Veterans Committee elected HOFers but we don't add them because they were not made avaliable. So I would remove those.
- 4) You don't have to add hyper links to places. Brooklyn, New York redirects to Brooklyn. It is unnecessary; it is also why redirects exist. You don't want the size of the page to get unnecessarily big.
- Again, I sincerely apologize for my actions yesterday; it was wrong of me to report you without waiting for your response. I hope you accept my apology. Omnis Scientia (talk) 06:41, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
- No worries. I will do my best to follow this guideline in the future. Would you like me to go back and change my edits or have they already been reverted based on the guidelines here? Mrmaxor (talk) 21:11, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
- Safest if you go check as pages are not constantly monitered. But do remember to leave an edit summary. More than anything, that is very important. Omnis Scientia (talk) 22:26, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
- You don't have to undo the rounded off figures but change back the names of the committees and remove the hyperlinks. Omnis Scientia (talk) 22:27, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
- I would suggest you remove pre-2007 veterans committee voting figures too because I'm not sure if they are accurate. Omnis Scientia (talk) 22:27, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
- And I appreciate the grace you are showing. Thank you. Omnis Scientia (talk) 22:28, 17 December 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Please stop. If you continue to use disruptive, inappropriate or hard-to-read formatting, as you did at Trevor Hoffman, you may be blocked from editing. There is a Wikipedia Manual of Style, and edits should not deliberately go against it without special reason. Again, MOS:NOPIPE. —Bagumba (talk) 01:02, 9 August 2024 (UTC)
