If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

Pendleton AfC decline

To clarify--I think that this person is probably notable enough to have their own Wikipedia article, but the problem is that no independent reliable sources were provided that verify his notability. Two of the sources were to an employer of Pendleton's, one was missing, and the fourth was just a list of his publications. What we need are references wholly independent of Pendleton, such as newspaper reports, government reports (although not those authored by Pendleton or the groups he works with), journal articles, etc., showing that he is notable. Alternatively, if you think he qualifies merely on the basis of his academic work, you may want to consult WP:PROF, which provides alternative criteria for evaluating the notability of professors/academics. Again, I do think that with a little improvement, this article could be ready for the encyclopedia. Let me know if you need help or you have any questions. Fixing the refs in the AfC
[edit]Hi, I left you a note on my talk page, but I wanted to follow up here once more. The article looks like it has enough information and verification to be a legitimate article. The problem is that now, either because of the way you created the article or because of something that happened in the process of this being moved from one namespace to another, the references are now all messed up. That is, currently, the article has a list of references at the bottom, but they're not actually linked to the inline citations (those just use superscripts and real "links"). If you take a look at the article, you'll see that I've fixed about the first 5 references. I'm willing to keep doing this; however, to be frank, it's quite tedious work, so I want to let you know that it's going to take me a while to do it (I'll want/need to fit it in amidst my real life and the other issues I pursue on WP). If you think you can figure out what I'm doing, feel free to make those changes as well; otherwise, I'll work on them when I can, and eventually we'll be able to go live. - Thanks for doing that! I have just moved the article into mainspace, so it's live! I'm still trying to fix it up by taking off the unneeded templates, and I need to go back and add categories, but for some reason WP is painfully slow for me right now, so it's taking a year and a day just to make each edit. In any event, thank you very much for your great work on this article, and I hope you continue contributing to Wikipedia on this and other articles. If you ever need help (about any aspect of Wikipedia), feel free to drop a note on my talk page at any time.
- Also, if I have time later, I'm going to see if I can learn more about our Did You Know? feature and see if your article might be able to be added to that. If you're unfamiliar, that's a feature on the main page that shows off a quick fact from newly created articles to give them a wider audience.

- Thank you for all of your help and guidance! Since I do plan on continuing to contribute to Wikipedia, when you have time can you let me know what unneeded templates are in my article so I can avoid having the same problem in future articles? I will also look into linking the article to others so it becomes more integrated into Wiki.
- I do have one more question for you at this point - I had uploaded a profile photograph for the article previously but didn't have proper proof that the creator of the photograph had given permissions for it's free use. I got email permission from the photographer and forwarded that to permissions-en@wikimedia.org and then re-uploaded the file with the {{OTRS pending}} tag as recommended on my talk page. I want to avoid the file being deleted again, can you let me know if I've uploaded correctly this time or if there's anything else I need to do? - Oh, the unneeded template wasn't anything you did--its the stuff that used to be at the top that explained that the article was an AfC article under review. Once I moved it to main space, I had to take that off, but for some reason WP was slow for me so it took a little while.
- Regarding the photo, do you mean File:Linwood Pendleton Profile Photograph.jpg? That file page doesn't have an OTRS-pending template; it actually says that it's CC-BY-SA licensed. Or was there another one that maybe got mistakenly deleted? That seems unlikely,because you'd probably have messages here on your talk page from the deleting admin if it were. - Okay, I think I see what happened--you uploaded the file, it was found to not have permissions, then deleted, then today you uploaded it again. However, you didn't place the template on the file page. What you need to add there (just go to the file page and click edit) at the bottom is {{OTRS pending}}. That will let any user/admin looking at the file know that an email is in the queue that will hopefully clear up the copyright status. Since I don't personally know that the email was sent, I can't add the OTRS tag myself. Qwyrxian (talk) 02:29, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

Jay Golden

- I looked it over, and it's excellent. Really, the only thing that I see that needs to be done is that it should be "wikified"; that means that you want to add some wikilinks--the double square brackets that will link up relevant words in that article to other articles in Wikipedia. I added a template to that effect, and then I added some examples in the lead. When you add links, be sure to only add them once--for example, since Duke University is now linked in the first sentence, you shouldn't link it anywhere else in the article.
- You can do the wikilinking now, or you can actually add the article to mainspace first, and work on it over time (and, in fact, other people may well do it as well).
- As for how to move the article, I'm pretty sure you're autoconfirmed, so can now move the article yourself. The way you do that is, on the upper right of your screen, in the "tabs", there should be a little down pointing arrow. When you click on that, you should see an option that says "move". If you click on that, a new page will open up where you can enter in the new name (in this case, just "Jay Golden" (not the quote marks)). If you have any difficulty with that, or if you don't have that option, let me know and you I can move it for you.
- Also, you may want to consider filing for this article to be listed as a DYK, like I did for you last time on Linwood Pendleton. I can do it for you, but I may not have time to do so in the limited time frame you have (I think it's 5 or 7 days after the article is moved into mainspace). If you can think of any other pages where Golden should be mentioned, it would be good to do so and provide a link back to the article; that would allow us to de-orphan it.
