Your recent edits
[edit]Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
- Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
- With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.
Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 09:25, 6 May 2017 (UTC)
Some notes
[edit]Hi Mreagle.
Based on what you have written, it is clear that you are passionate about brain fingerprinting. Also, while your account has existed since 2006 (!) you have only made about 30 edits, per your contribs.
What makes Wikipedia possible, is that we all try to build content that provides readers with "accepted knowledge" (that's the mission). We find "accepted knowledge" in what we call "reliable sources" (that term is defined at WP:RS, WP:MEDRS, and WP:FRIND), and we interpret them, and work on them together, following the policies and guidelines.
You are making some mistakes that passionate, inexperienced people make in Wikipedia.
- discussing and attacking other editors, instead of focusing on content
- arguing for your position based on your opinions about things (or by trying to discredit other editors) instead of based on what reliable sources say and the policies and guidelines.
- editing aggressively (see WP:Edit warring, which you are approaching)
Passion is a double edged sword in Wikipedia. It drives people to contribute but it can also lead people to ignore sources and the policies and guidelines and just push for what they want. This can lead to what we call disruption which, if it persists, leads the community to take action to stop it. There really is a kind of "rule of law" here - this place could not have persisted and built all this content together, without it.
Please have a read of WP:ADVOCACY which provides useful guidance for people who are passionate about things.
If you want a quick run through of how this place works and the key policies and guidelines about both content and behavior here, please see User:Jytdog/How. Best regards Jytdog (talk) 18:29, 6 May 2017 (UTC)
