Gerry Neef
Hi Mr Credible,
if you check the German references at his last professional club 1. FC Nuremberg or for example www.fussballdaten.de (http://www.fussballdaten.de/spieler/neefgerhard/1975/) you will see that all of them call him Gerhard. It is fourthermore extremly unusal that Gerhard as first name is spelled Gerhardt in German. Otherwise is Gerhardt a common family name. Maybe this was the reason, how this mistake was made, when he came from a German amateur club (VfvB Ruhrort/Laar, a club in Duisburg) to Scotland. Finally I met him some years ago as I am a sports journalist in Duisburg and wrote a story in 11Freunde and a local newspaper about him. Of course I asked him about the spelling of his name: it is Gerhard.
Although we died some months ago there is still an entry in www.telefonbuch.de (which is the "official" telephone register of Deutsche Telekom): http://www1.dastelefonbuch.de/?la=de&bi=72&kw=neef&ci=n%FCrnberg&ciid=9691&taoid=00001010000012211041223511100001012201&seed=2132234712&ort_ok=1&vert_ok=1&buab=911001&cx=42159&cy=-171913&lat=49.450513&lon=11.080477&cifav=0&mdest=sec1.www1&cmd=detail&recSelected=3&recuid=5IFDAIXDMHVTQREPN6GIMW5RKGDORL3Y3AO3H2YB&searchid=13815_1640_20110412235111163_92551634309344_0122&sp=51&aktion=38
If you agree we should re-change the article about him.
Best regards --Friedhelm Thelen Hockeyweb (talk) 21:53, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
- Hi FTH,
- The first reference you gave is a good one, and should be used in the article. The telephone reference unfortunately doesn't make clear whether it refers to the footballer or someone else, so isn't helpful for us yet. WP:Verifiability requires that we use WP:Reliable sources, so unfortunately your personal experience is also not usable as a WP:Reference. Let's try to find some more references online with the spelling "Gerhard": I bet we can find some, if that was the correct spelling. I suspect we should probably mention both, even if the spelling "Gerhardt" was wrong, if it was the more widely-used spelling in public. Thanks, Mr. Credible (talk) 08:25, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
- Hi MrC
- I understand the telephone reference isn't usable - although I visited him there... :-) I will try to find other online references although that might be difficult. It is weird, but until I wrote the story about him he was nearly unknown in Germany. A few days ago kicker (it is the main football magazine in Germany) issued a special edition about the big derbies in football history. In the Old Firm section they mentioned him quoting my article nearly literally. But I will try to find something. And I agree: It should be mentioned, that he was spelled Gerhardt in Scotland. If media in that time wrote his name this way this version got his own life... I will tell you if I find more references.... Thanks for your assistance! --Friedhelm Thelen Hockeyweb (talk) 13:46, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
Invitation to take part in a pilot study
Welcome to Wikipedia. I am a Wikipedian, who is studying the phenomenon on Wikipedia. I need your help to conduct my research on about understanding "Motivation of Wikipedia contributors." Truth v Credibility
ILakatos is the (kindly) antithesis to Mr. Credible.
Welcome ... let's engage and make Wiki something that is worthy of us to be sent out into the cosmos when Sol begins to be tired of its guests.

Truth v Credibility II
I will keep reverting your trivia unless you explain WHY ? It's that simple. We're all opened to reasoned argument ... what IS the connotation of 'SMS' that you're keeping us in the dark about?
Tell us. We should know %-)
109.249.248.12 (talk) 17:56, 21 April 2011 (UTC)
- I have no idea what you mean by "trivia" or "connotation". I did restore the link to mainstream media, which you had removed without explanation. Please don't do that. Thanks, Mr. Credible (talk) 11:16, 22 April 2011 (UTC)
- I think much was at cross-purposes here. One The Giant Puffin had asserted that (the brev) 'MSM' had 'different connotations' and had entirely deleted (the brev). I, politely, asked why (?) on his/her talkpage and also for enlightenment. I also viewed the change as 'trivial' in the context of its section in Oborne's crticisms of a baleful influence of Postmodernism. I allowed significant time for response. There was none and so went to 'undo'.
- Shortly after you made your update, adding the Wiki internal link (highlighting the use of the brev (MSM)), but I failed to notice that, while retaining the removal of the 'MSM' use from the article, you had added the internal link. I wasn't paying enough attention ... I am sorry.
- My subsequent comments on the article talk page are just me having a little 'tongue-firmly-in-cheek' fun. Many times I run off at tangents ... especially in my enjoyment of Elizebethan expressions (through the brilliance of Shakespeare). Where else in the darkest of his dark expressions [the Scottish Play] would you find such fun [and truth] as 'provokes the desire but removes the performance'.)
- However, I would like to see this article on Oborne seriously expanded. For example, his contribution to the undermining of the 'business-as-usual' attitude at Westminster on the expenses issue is not yet given its full credit. And the article appears to be subject to propaganda attacks from places like Zimbabwe ... clearly he's upset a lot of people, and reading him, I can see why. A contribution I'd like to make ASAP is a public domain picture.
- Sorry for any misunderstandings and thank you for your welcome on my talk page.
PROD on The works of Michael Gorman
I have removed the Prod you placed on The works of Michael Gorman, as one of the article editors has contested it on the article's talk page. I'm guessing that they weren't aware that they could remove the prod. I'm borderline on the article myself--most likely, the relevant information should be merged into Michael Gorman (librarian) and the article redirected there. However, you are welcome to open up an Article for deletion discussion if you believe that the article should be deleted. I may do so myself in a while if you don't, but I'm not completely sure it can't be saved. Qwyrxian (talk) 04:44, 24 April 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know: I've replied at the article's talk page. Mr. Credible (talk) 13:37, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
Re: Welcome
Hello Mr. Credible and thanks for the welcome,
Yes, I have been working on trying to edit the Nooka wiki page. I actually do not work for or represent the subject of that article, I started editing this page because the owner stated on Twitter that he needed someone to make edits to the page to meet wikipedia neutrality standards and I offered to give it a shot. This is the first full page that I am editing and would definitely appreciate some help on working to make sure that the content is neutral, so i appreciate the link to the New Contributors' Help page.
Thanks, Jdossman (talk) 18:33, 24 April 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks, I've also edited that page for neutrality. If you have any questions please feel free to to ask them here. Mr. Credible (talk) 18:34, 24 April 2011 (UTC)
Re: Welcome
Hello, I hope this is the right way to do this. Thanks for your message. I do have a connection to this subject matter, but I hope I can make changes if they are properly referenced and as objective as possible, so I have added some external references (footnotes), as well as the links in the article. Let me know if this is ok, as I am new to this. I just wish to make corrections and updates to certain articles, which are often emerging areas of art practice in which only a few organisations are involved. Looking forward to contributing further. cheers (Tac582001 (talk) 19:31, 24 April 2011 (UTC))
- I've converted some of your external links to references. For more information on the best way to do this, please have a read of Wikipedia:Citing sources and Wikipedia:External links. Please ask if you have any questions. Thanks, Mr. Credible (talk) 20:06, 24 April 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for your help. I will follow this style in future contributions. (Tac582001 (talk) 20:59, 24 April 2011 (UTC))
Thank you
Many thanks for removing vandalism from my user page. Denisarona (talk) 10:36, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
- You're quite welcome. Mr. Credible (talk) 10:36, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
Thanks
Thank you for the welcome, and for the tips. I do not represent that subject, no less the subject himself, or do I work for the subject. I only edited it because he was my favorite artist, yet no one bothered to write facts on his page. I'm sorry if I sound biased on that article, as I have went back and tried to adjust the neutrality of it. I also requested for a name change. Masaakikendoh (talk) 01:25, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
Thanks Man
Thanks a lot man, it was a real help and contribution, i have lot of details about this event but very littel time, can you please do me a favour and guide me that how can I make and link the pages for NERC competiton for every year, NERC2011,NERC2010,NERC2009...etc —Preceding unsigned comment added by MalikAnasAhmad (talk • contribs) 06:04, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
- You're welcome! I don't think there's a need for separate pages for the annual competitions. National Engineering Robotics Contest is quite small now. How about instead, you add referenced info in separate sections in that article? Mr. Credible (talk) 09:35, 29 April 2011 (UTC)

Please do not edit pages that have the {{Increation}} tag at the top. This can be very disruptive to the author who is most likely still working on the page. Of course, an exception can be made if the page hasn't been edited for a while, but with the article mentioned in the subject, this is not the case. --Djc wi (talk) 10:23, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
- Oops. Sorry. Mr. Credible (talk) 10:24, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
- Just letting you know. --Djc wi (talk) 10:29, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
Re: external links removed
Hello,
I was wondering there must be an appropriate reason for removing my link from list of external links. I would appreciate if you enlighten me on that matter. Thanks. Khabbab (talk) 10:27, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
- Hello. As noted on your talk page, Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used as a platform for advertising or promotion, and doing so is contrary to the goals of this project. So please don't add your blog to the external links sections of articles. Instead, please help to improve the articles with WP:Reliable sources as WP:References. Your writing indicates that you know a lot about botany, and in particular the flora of Pakistan, so your expertise will be most welcome in many articles. Thanks, Mr. Credible (talk) 10:30, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
- Okay. So if i edit an article related to botany and then i can put my website in references, that would be fine? Khabbab (talk) 10:35, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
- Blogs and other self-published sources are not considered WP:Reliable sources as references. But there are many other, reliable sources online that you can use to improve articles. Thanks, Mr. Credible (talk) 10:40, 29 April 2011 (UTC)

Page Editing
Dear Mr Credible,
I just updated the Swiss Tropical Institute page. As it integrated with the ISPM and changed its name last year to the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute I would also like to change the name of the article, but can't seem to find the 'move' option. I also received an note from you that there could be some conflicts, so I changed my e-mail address, but can't seem to get to the option to send a draft for review (before it is deleted). Could you please help? (Although I will log out now, I look forward to talking with you on Monday as to how to resolve these issues.)Many Thanks, Joanne —Preceding unsigned comment added by Joanne.blackwell (talk • contribs) 12:29, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
- The "move" menu is cunningly hidden: it's just between the star and the search box at the upper right on the article. I've now moved it for you. Thanks, Mr. Credible (talk) 12:36, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
Plunkett Lake Press
Mr. Credible:
I am not familiar with the details of how Wikipedia editing works, nor with how to reach you.
I see you deleted edits I made to the Jan Masaryk page. I wanted to let the world know that Jan Masaryk's World War II BBC broadcasts, long out of print, are now again available as a Plunkett Lake Press eBook (http://www.plunkettlakepress.com/speakingtomycountry.aspx), with a Foreword by Madeleine Albright. How does one do this?
Assuming you see this message, I have no clue where to see your answer... especially since it says in red to NOT post one's email address here. Patrick Mehr (talk) 14:48, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
- Yes this is the right place to contact me, thanks. I removed the external links you added to your company's website, since editorial guidelines at WP:External links strongly discourage posting of links to one's own company's products and services. Please have a read of WP:Conflict of interest, and wait for someone else to write about your company and people with whom you're closely connected. You're most welcome to edit any of the thousand of other articles here: we very much need your help on those. Thanks, Mr. Credible (talk) 14:56, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
Notewagon
Thanks for editing the CSD tag - didn't realise it had to be a discussed deletion. Cheers. Mato (talk) 15:54, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
- No problem! Thanks for the cleanup work. Mr. Credible (talk) 15:54, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
Restoration of old warnings
It wasn't an accident. I removed the old warnings from 2010 because the user made a constructive set of edits to Talk:Pigweed. It's also possible that this is a shared IP. I then cleared out the old warnings and added a welcome message as a friendly gesture. Imagine if you were a new user who logged in and found a bunch of old warnings on your user page. That's not right. If the IP decides to create an account because we were gracious and welcoming in our approach, then we've gained a new user. Adding back the old warnings when they might not even apply to this person helps nobody. Viriditas (talk) 12:11, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
- Ah, I see. Yes, you're right. Thanks for the explanation. Mr. Credible (talk) 12:12, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
Mr.'s unite
Hi there - I just wanted to say thank you for reverting Natural language, and that I love your username! We need more Mr.'s on Wikipedia. — Mr. Stradivarius ♫ 20:23, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
- Well hey there, and thanks. You've got an impressive user name yourself: your user page notes your music background, but are you still involved with violins? We need more of that in the world, definitely. Mr. Credible (talk) 12:27, 2 May 2011 (UTC)
Some kind of zen thing, I guess

Heya
Thanks for the welcome!
I did OK for my first attempt, eh?
Yes, I have a conflict of interest. I was mainly editing the ExtremeTech page because it was out of date. I like to think my changes were impartial, though.
I see you removed the 'writers' block, due to lack of 'notability'. How does a writer become notable enough to be in a table on Wikipedia? I was copying the table on Lifehacker, FWIW.
MrSeb (talk) 14:47, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
- Yes you did very well indeed for your first article: thanks very much for contributing. Stand-alone lists of contributors to a blog (or former heads of clubs, heads of departments, etc.) don't generally contribute much towards knowledge about the subject, and tend to turn into "Joe Soap slept here"-type vanity plaques. If there's something notable about one of the writers that conveys some useful info about it (e.g. "Evan Dashevsky was the first recipient of the Pulitzer prize for tech blogging (secondary cite from NYT, secondary cite from Whitehouse.gov)", then that's an excellent thing to add to the article.
- And you're right about Lifehacker: I've now removed most of that table too. Mr. Credible (talk) 15:14, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
- Cool, thanks for the clarification. How would I go about listing that Sal Cangeloso is the Managing Editor and Sebastian Anthony is the Lead Editor, then? They are both fairly important facts (Sal is also the EiC for Geek.com, and Seb is the ex-editor of Download Squad, which was recently shut down by AOL.) MrSeb (talk) 16:19, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
- I guess I'll go ahead and add them in a tasteful and neutral way, and see if I can find some citations to back it up :) MrSeb (talk) 08:17, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
- Tasteful? Neutral? On Wikipedia? I give that about a week. :) Mr. Credible (talk) 08:26, 5 May 2011 (UTC)

Where are my edits?
mmmm...will this text appear? I am trying to reach the editor person. This is confusing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thigham (talk • contribs) 20:01, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
- I guess you're asking about this edit? I removed it, because you pasted a paragraph promoting your company's product on an article that has nothing whatsoever to do with it. The SAP Transport management system is a component of SAP ERP, which is planning software for computers. Please have a read of WP:Conflict of interest, and wait for someone else to write about your company. Thanks, Mr. Credible (talk) 20:36, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
NOtoAV
Thank you for your contributions to the 'Individuals supporting NOtoAV'. These facts may be true however, because this is a contreversial issue, you need to find refrences to back this up. I have not removed the edits but you may wish to find refrences before someone else does. Please remember this for the future, thankyou. Oddbodz (talk) 20:43, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
- All facts are true. :-) Which bits do you think need more references? Mr. Credible (talk) 20:45, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
- Also please note that I haven't made any edits to the section NOtoAV#Individuals supporting NOtoAV. You might be referring to these two edits. I see you've already posted the same message at User talk:81.144.235.66, so I'm not quite sure why you're also posting it here. Thanks, Mr. Credible (talk) 20:50, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
- Oh, sorry. I got muddled up because the IP made several edits and somehow I looked at the wrong revision and thought that you had added Lord Owen. Sorry about that. Oddbodz (talk) 20:53, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
- No worries. I'll go look for some references. Mr. Credible (talk) 20:53, 4 May 2011 (UTC)

Easy Milano
Dear Mr. Credibile,
Many thanks for your help with the Easy Milano article. If you have any suggestions or advice please let me know, it was my first wiki page. With regards to the article needing more citations could you please let me know on which parts, as I can probably provide these.
Kind regards,
Rob —Preceding unsigned comment added by RobertBurton2 (talk • contribs) 10:09, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
- Well done! It's an excellent first page. The one thing I would like to see improved is the references from La Repubblica and il Giornale: they are difficult to WP:Verify at the moment. Thanks, Mr. Credible (talk) 10:17, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for your quick reply. I have these articles to hand. I will read the WP:Verify and try to improve them. I was wondering what is difficult in particular about them? They are national broadsheets and I think most libraries would have them.
Regards —Preceding unsigned comment added by RobertBurton2 (talk • contribs) 10:09, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
- A web link to an archive of the story would be good, if that's available. Most libraries in my country don't carry either newspaper, though it can be easily purchased in most cities and at large train stations. Mr. Credible (talk) 10:27, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
I can probably find a web link but I suspect you will need to pay to view it. Is this helpful? RobertBurton2 (talk) 13:51, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
