Dorsey Village
I trimmed back the article you wrote as there were a couple of problems with it. The main one was the over-detailed (but completely unreferenced) description of a particular PIRA Volunteer. If this info can be verified, and you can make a case for his passing our notability guideline, you might be better to write an article on him. Otherwise all he rates is a mention, I'm afraid. Best wishes, --Guinnog 13:53, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:DorseyCrest.gif
Thanks for uploading Image:DorseyCrest.gif. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Non-free use disputed for Image:Jmcgowan.jpg
This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Jmcgowan.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted after seven days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:32, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
I was tempted to nominate the project above for deletion just now, based on the frankly minimal content. But it seems to me that the project might have the chance of getting off the ground if you developed and advertised it a bit more. Please read the Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Guide for some hints on how to construct an eye-catching project page, and some pointers on how to get your project known. I'm going to add it to the new draft of the project directory I'm working on, but if there's no real change by the next time someone updates the directory there is a very real chance that the project page will be deleted. Good luck. John Carter 23:09, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:Steve_alker.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Steve_alker.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 03:13, 7 November 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jusjih 03:13, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi,
I'd like to take the opportunity to advise you on two matters which, being a member or former member of the Northern Ireland WikiProject or it's sister project on Belfast, you might be interested in the following submission about a recent terrorist attack Wikipedia:Northern Irish Wikipedians' notice board#News.
I'd also like to take this opportunity to ask for your help in reviving the Northern Ireland WikiProject. Given that there are only a small number of Wikipedians from Northern Ireland or interested specifically in the region, the project needs all the help it can get.
Cheers, --Setanta747 (talk) 13:04, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Ray Foley
A tag has been placed on Ray Foley requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. TN‑X-Man 14:38, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Willie Casey
You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.
Thank you.
A tag has been placed on Willie Casey requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Blanchardb -Me•MyEars•MyMouth- timed 12:00, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
Unreferenced BLPs
Hello Mr.Kennedy1! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to these articles, it would greatly help us with the current 35 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:
- Steve Alker - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL
- Chris Gane - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Speedy deletion nomination of Robby ray cyrus
A tag has been placed on Robby ray cyrus requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Hi! It seems you recently created an unreferenced biography of a living person: Zolani Marali. The community has decided that all new biographies of living persons must contain a reliable source that supports at least one statement made about the person in the article as per our verifiability policy. Please add references as soon as possible. Thanks! --LaraBot (talk) 00:13, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
The article Zolani Marali has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Rettetast (talk) 09:43, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

File copyright problem with File:Patrick Mendy.jpg
Thank you for uploading File:Patrick Mendy.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. ww2censor (talk) 05:54, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
Beach Soccer
Hey, Mr.Kennedy, just to let you know I am trying my best to update and improve beach soccer pages. In fact I have been trying to do so since I joined Wikipedia in 2008 but I saw some of your edits and what you said on your user page so I thought you should be aware. Coincidently, I also support Liverpool FC as I am from Liverpool. I am currently trying to keep track with the European qualifiers in Bibione. Please continue your good work! Football's Greatest
An article doesn't go directly in Category:2010 in British television or Category:2010 television series debuts if it's already in Category:2010 British television programme debuts, as that category is already a subcategory of both of the others. Thanks. Bearcat (talk) 07:11, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
The article Dave Parton has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Footballer who has not made an appearance in a fully professional competition (has only been an unused substitute) thus fails WP:ATH/WP:NSPORTS. Lack of coverage means he also fails WP:GNG.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. BigDom 17:29, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Articles for deletion nomination of Dave Parton
I have nominated Dave Parton, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dave Parton. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.
Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. BigDom 17:54, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
You are now a Reviewer
Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. —DoRD (talk) 20:54, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
Phil Taylor GA review
Hello, I've reviewed Phil Taylor against the GA criteria and I'm afraid it's not at the standard yet. I've left some comments at the review page. Let me know if you have any questions. I've also added a tag to the article page that has partly blanked the content because I found that the biography on his website was identical. I suspect that his website may have been copied from here, but the tag should be left in place until someone from Wikipedia:Copyright problems has had a look. The content will all still be there in the history. As I said at the review, I'd recommend taking the article to peer review at some pint. It can be invaluable to have other editors make suggestions for improvement. Regards, --BelovedFreak 17:30, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
- Hi, you've probably noticed, but the copyright notice has been removed. It was found that Phil Taylor's website had copied from the Wikipedia article, so no danger of it being deleted now. It also seems that the names of his parents got changed somewhere a long the way! Thanks for your patience, and good luck with further developing it.--BelovedFreak 20:13, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
GA Reviewing
I can imagine that the reviewing process is daunting at first. WP:WIAGA is a good starting place, as it outlines the key components of a good article. The see also section of that page has a link to some good tips for reviewing. Basically, there are three key areas of focus: Quality, completeness and referencing. If an article reads well, is neutral, is well referenced and a quick search fails to show any obviously missing concepts, then the article is generally close to GA. Getting into specifics is more involved, and for me personally, the things I nitpick are a reflection of what I have learned by going through the good and featured article candidate processes. As with most anything else, a reviewer becomes better with experience, and if you begin reviewing GA nominations and wish for an experienced reviewer to offer a second opinion on your first reviews, feel free to ask at WT:GAN. Cheers! Resolute 17:53, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
- Prose is the "meat" of the article - it is the sections of the article in paragraph form rather than bullet point lists or charts and tables.
- The pass/fail icons come from a template like {{GAList}} It allows for a point form overview of where an article stands on each of the criteria. If you believe the article passes that specific mark, fill it in as "aye" or "yes", if it fails, "nay", and if it is close, "???" Once you are satisfied that the article passes on each criteria, then it is a pass. So if I put an article on hold to allow the nominator to improve on areas I have concerns with, I will come back and update each tick as necessary until all are checkmarked.
- It can be done over time, but I prefer to do a complete review at once. Most articles will have to be placed on hold to address some issues, so giving the nominator a complete picture is beneficial. Once they have addressed the concerns, a second passthru is usually pretty simple.
- If you believe the article meets the criteria, it passes. The very nature of the process allows for a fairly wide latitude in what each reviewer considers a passing article.
- You don't have to use the template with a block of comments at the end, but that seems to be the way many people do it. As long as you are checking against each of the six criteria, how you format your review is up to you, though care should be taken to ensure the nominator can easily understand what your concerns are.
Hope this helps! Resolute 18:43, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
