Vandal repair
[edit]Hi. Can you tell me what vandalism you are trying to fix on the reference desk? I notice that you haven't had much success as you keep reverting yourself. If you let me know what you are trying to do, I will probably be able to give you some assistance. Thanks. Road Wizard 02:37, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
- someone changed all instances of America to [[United States|America]] using some sort of javascript, I've tried using the same script to change it back, as the current version is not only wrong in most cases, but formatting breaking in others, only the script the vandal was using only seems to want to change a]] back to America which of course makes things worse--Mr.Fixit 02:41, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
- Can you point out which edit or edits the vandal did this in? Thanks. Road Wizard 02:43, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
- Ok, I'll fix it for you. I am going to take a complete copy of the page, paste into a word processor and search for each of the altered sections. I will then paste it back into the article and add any new comments left in the mean time. Road Wizard 02:48, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
- Ah, that'll work--Mr.Fixit 02:48, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
- Ok. I have now repaired the Humanities page. I also noticed the editor had done some work on the other Reference desks, so I will have to check for damage there as well. Thanks for pointing out the problem. Road Wizard 03:19, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

- Having taken a look at the other pages, the damage there appears to be minor (adding a few spaces and wikilinking the word internet to World Wide Web) so restoring it to the previous state would be a wate of effort and server space (everytime you save a change on wikipedia the whole page gets saved, not just your change). If you need any further help with editing or repairing vandalism, please let me know on my talk page. Thanks again. Road Wizard 03:30, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
