Re: eCeilidh

Hi Motmot, I noticed your change [[1]] relating to progressive and partner changing dances on eCeilidh, where you said that there 'Not many progressive dances (where you change partners within the dance) are called'. I suspect there's a confusion here as in most cases in English Country Dance, eCeilidh, Contra, 'progressive' means moving up or down the set as a couple rather than changing partners and these are fairly common. All longways sets involve progression (somehow!). The Contradance page seems to describe progression. I'd agree with you that partner changing dances are fairly rare...

I suspect that international usage is inconsistent, meaning only "movement of couples relative to each other" in the USA, but also "Partner-change" in the UK (result of a thoroughly unreliable quick and dirty Google search, and dim memories of callers yelling "You've progressed!").
