Re: your queries re Staxi review
[edit]I'll respond to your points here for your convenience:
"why was the Staxi entry rejected?" - straightforwardly, there are a couple of grounds for rejection, one is that the article was written like an advert rather than a neutral encylopedia entry, and two because it had no references to independent coverage in reliable sources such as books or newspapers. Either of these grounds in themselves would disqualify the article. Independent sources are important to both establish that the organisation is widely recognised as a notable one, but also to provide independent verification of each fact presented in the article.
"there is a lot of corporate marketing crap you folks allow" - not quite. There is a lot of marketing crap that appears on wikipedia, due to the combined efforts of the PR reps of the many millions of companies around the globe, that much is true, however, such content is quite at odds with the purpose of an enclopedia, and the volunteer editors collectively are doing their very best to identify and delete such material. There are particularly policies concerning those editors who have a conflict of interest - see WP:COI - which discourage editing from areas in which they have a conflict.
And as a final point, I'm sure everyone is in sympathy with the intentions of a company who try to help the disabled, and indeed I am sure that there are likely to be a number of editors who are in fact disabled themselves. However, it may be worth reflecting on the thought that approaching an encyclopedia with the hope to use it as a promotional tool, is perhaps not really entering into the spirit of things, and is quite unlikely to be effective for that purpose. If an organisation meets the requirements of WP:CORP then it might be appropriate to have an article here which mentions them, however, to be accepted it would have to look substantially different from the article which was the subject of review. I hope this makes sense, and goes some way to explaining the result of the review. Best regards, --nonsense ferret 16:32, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
