- History of Jesuit High School jhssac.org - On September 17, 1963 The Jesuit HS school was dedicated by Bishop Alden Bell to the Jesuit North American Martyrs
- Stanford Mansion History says "In the late 1950’s, the expense of upkeep led Bishop Alden Bell to write to the governor to suggest the State buy the home to restore." He was in Sacramento until 1962 and probably did not suggest this until 1968 or so (late 60s) because the state bought the Stanford Mansion in 1978.
