Los Angeles, California
[edit]Moreau, you're made great strides in improving the quality of the LA article. If you're looking for ways to improve the article you should know that before an article can reach FA status, the references need to be standardized with all web-based sources using the {{cite web|url=|title=|publisher=|accessdate=}} template.--Loodog 18:18, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

New England town center CDPs
[edit]Hi. I know you're familiar with municipal government structures and their treatment by the Census Bureau and I would like your opinion on a proposal of mine. I have suggested merging town center CDPs articles into the town article. Please see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Vermont#Merging town center CDP articles into town articles and Talk:St. Johnsbury, Vermont#CDP change for details. I'd like to hear your comments about whether the town center and the town should be treated as two different places or if my merger is acceptable. Please see St. Johnsbury, Vermont (my most recent version) for an example of my proposal. Thanks. --Polaron | Talk 20:44, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

Why'd you delete a bunch of good info? Those [citation needed] markers were placed by an overzealous user who put a bunch of them at the end of sentences that are referenced by nearby citations. I explained this and removed many of the tags a while back, but he reverted within hours. I didn't want to start an edit war and I've been terribly busy evry since w/ school starting so I haven't been back to move and/or add citations.
Would you mind reverting until I (or you) can get to it? The info was accurate and the citations are (mostly) in the article already... Zeng8r (talk) 02:54, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
Any way to get the Belmar Shores listing changed to the correct spelling of Bel Mar Shores? Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by The-engineerboy (talk • contribs) 14:37, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
WikiProject California roll call
[edit]Hello from WikiProject California!
As part of a recent update to our project main page we are conducting a roll call to check which members are still active and interested in working on California related content. If you are still interested in participating, simply move your username from the inactive section of the participant list to the active section. I hope you will find the redesigned project pages helpful, and I wanted to welcome you back to the project. If you want you can take a look at the newly redesigned:
As well as the existing pages:
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask at the project talk page, and add it to your watchlist, if it isn't already.
Again, hi! Optigan13 (talk) 00:24, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
First off, I apologize for the spam. You are receiving this message because you have indicated that you are in Southern California or interested in Southern California topics (either via category or WikiProject, or I happen to know personally).
I would like to invite you to the Los Angeles edition of Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art, a photography scavenger hunt to be held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) on Saturday, February 28, 2009, from 1:00 to 7:00 PM. All photos are intended for use in Wikipedia articles or on Wikimedia Commons. There will be a prize available for the person who gets the most photos on the list.
If you don't like art, why not come just to meet your fellow Wikipedians. Apparently, we haven't had a meetup in this area since June 2006!
If you are interested in attending, please add your name to Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art#Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Please make a note if you are traveling to the area (train or plane) and need transportation, which can probably be arranged via carpool, but we need time to coordinate. Lodging is as of right now out of scope, but we could discuss that if enough people are interested.
Thank you and I hope to see you there! howcheng {chat} 00:46, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
Al Qaeda
[edit]Please read the article again. I belive you misread it. Where is the evidence that warrants your revision?
It said that reports of subsequent contacts between Iraq and al-Qaida after bin Laden had returned to Afghanistan “do not appear to have resulted in a collaborative relationship,” and added that two unidentified senior bin Laden associates "have adamantly denied that any ties existed between al-Qaida and Iraq —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fezz (talk • contribs) 17:41, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Homophobia at The Hardy Boys
[edit]Hi, I found your name through the LGBT project page. There's a massive amount of homophobia going on at Talk:The Hardy Boys - the article has been purged of all sources that discuss the issue b/c homophobe-editors say the issue is "fringe". I am way outnumbered, so I am trying to raise awareness of the problem. Any help would be appreciated! Ricardiana (talk) 17:11, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

Photo request
[edit]Are you willing to take photo requests?
If so, would you mind photographing the former Continental Airlines headquarters at LAX at World Way West Road? See this map: http://www.bing.com/maps/default.aspx?v=2&FORM=LMLTCP&cp=pnq6xr53yfbw&style=b&lvl=2&tilt=-90&dir=0&alt=-1000&phx=0&phy=0&phscl=1&scene=31975229&encType=1 - Click "W" and you will see the side with the former Continental logo. Would you mind photographing that side of the building? Thanks WhisperToMe (talk) 06:57, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

Re:LA Neighborhoods Move/Hollywood
[edit]Those seem to be more about changing Hollywood, Los Angeles, California to just Hollywood rather than dropping the "California" from the neighborhoods' titles. One of them started out as "why don't we drop the California?" and ended up as another "just make it Hollywood" discussion (though a couple people expressed support for dropping the California). You can see my rationale for the moves of other neighborhoods—Los Angeles goes by a no-state moniker as do other cities whose neighborhoods don't contain state names; plus why use a longer name when a shorter one works? Hollywood itself is not nominated for a move at this time...with its page traffic and history of frequent move proposals, now is not the time. I may suggest it in a month or two Purplebackpack89 (Notes Taken) (Locker) 20:57, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
- P.S. what Granucci was saying about the naming conventions is wrong...it clearly states that they don't apply to neighborhoods Purplebackpack89 (Notes Taken) (Locker) 21:49, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

welcome back
[edit]Nice to see a familiar name working on Tampa-related articles again. It's been extremely quiet in this corner of wikipedia for the past, say, two years or so... Zeng8r (talk) 18:56, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
The article Broadway (Tampa) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Non-notable county road in Florida.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Imzadi 1979 → 03:58, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

Aspen Hill Maryland
[edit]Greetings: the citations you seek are in links in the next paragraph. I suppose that some editing of phrase could be done to make it clear, along the line of "Aspen Hill does not have its own zip-code, but is instead served in parts by three post-offices which serve nearby Wheaton, Rockville, and unincorporated Silver Spring". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thardman22 (talk • contribs) 22:16, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

U.S. Census results released
[edit]Yesterday I saw newspaper articles online giving the populations of various North Carolina cities. I was all set to edit their articles when I noticed in the case of Charlotte the 2009 population was followed by the city's rank, which was a piped link to List of United States cities by population. I realized I would have to edit that list in case the ranking for Charlotte changed. Then I found out how long the list was, and as I looked at the edit screen I saw all these warnings, and also a source for the list I hadn't seen before. I have yet to find a complete list anyone can use to edit this list. You seem to know what the procedure will be to get this information into the appropriate articles, especially this list.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 19:44, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
Thanks. May I quote you in the edit window for the article? This is what would appear:
"<!--2010 census results are being released on a state-by-state basis, unlike previous censuses, when the results were released all at once, mainly by geographical hierarchy. For consistency purposes, everyone should wait until all of the results are released for the list to be updated and also to avoid confusion about exactly which city ranks where. http://mcdc.missouri.edu/webrepts/pl94trends for the states that were released so far.--> " This should probably remain in place, but the above would go near there somehow: <!--NOTE - Please do not alter the below table. U.S. Census figures are updated annually and this list should not be changed until the estimates for 2010 are released or successful challenges to the 2009 estimates are published. Population figures based on any sources other than the U.S. Census Bureau are unacceptable and changes will be reverted.-->
