Hi, Moorekat. You insisted on my talk page that the Aquinas College seal is "for use on official College documents only". Aside from the fact that the Standards Guide from which I extracted the image imposes no such restriction (it only says "Used on official documents" and mentions nothing about restrictions), whatever restrictions the college may wish to impose on the world do not trump copyright law, which provides for fair use. (The image with which you wish to replace the seal is equally copyrighted.) Wikipedia has established a fair use policy so that we do not run afoul of the law, and our use of the seal meets the criteria. Furthermore, you'll notice that most university pages on Wikipedia contain a seal and a wordmark in the infobox. That's because Wikipedia calls for such images in its College and university article guidelines. For these reasons, I am reinstating the seal image and asking that you leave it in place and withdraw your deletion nomination.

Also, given that all your edits so far have been related to Aquinas College, I wonder whether you might hold a position at the college and are making these edits as part of your job. If you are, I suggest you read this Wikipedia behavioral guideline regarding conflicts of interest. Two Hearted River (paddle / fish) 17:39, 11 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If you go back to the discussion page for this deletion nomination and write that you wish to withdraw the nomination, I believe an administrator will take care of it. Two Hearted River (paddle / fish) 20:45, 11 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. Even after four years here, I'm still bound to run afoul of a guideline every time I try something new, unless I spend an hour researching them beforehand. Two Hearted River (paddle / fish) 21:00, 11 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
