Unsubstantiated assertions in Americans in Guatemala and Colombians in Costa Rica
[edit]Hi, User:Monster Crab. You have added back two assertions that do not appear to be supported AT ALL by the proffered citations. I suspect that you are trying to be helpful, but please see the Talk pages of Americans in Guatemala and Colombians in Costa Rica. Further discussion on these concerns should occur on these respective pages (rather than here), thank you.
More generally, you have chosen to remove input from 2 editors from your Talk page (myself as one) that pointed to your edits as possible vandalism. That's fine, but in your edit summary removing that input you indicated that you understood the concerns. However, I wonder if you fully understood as you seem to be continuing with the same approach. I do sympathize that there are extensive and sometimes arcane guidelines here but I would pleasantly encourage you to work through some of these issues. If you need mentoring, you may wish to avail yourself of the many options. FeatherPluma (talk) 14:43, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

[edit]May I suggest that we keep User talk page things here so that the thread is easy to follow in one place? The concern is absolutely not that the articles are yours in some way, a concept that Wikipedia does not generally recognize. The concern is that you reverted edits that were clearly marked as WP:COPYVIO content, and that you did so without adequate edit summaries. Accurate sourcing and avoidance of plagiarism are two edges of a narrow lane that needs to be followed when you add content to Wikipedia. It will be perfectly fine for you to take your time and address any concerns that you may still have on the Talk pages of the respective articles. If you do not have concerns because you understand that WP:COPYVIO content cannot under any circumstance be added, let alone added back after removal with a clear edit summary, you will have grasped the point. I suspect you did not read the edit summary that explained why the content cannot be added in this format, and it is expected that you will now do so going forward in your future edits. I also slightly wonder gently if adding big edits to the English language Wikipedia is not possibly a stretch given your present level of fluency but let's see how you do over time. Perhaps however on your own initiative you might chose to edit cautiously at fir st. Best wishes. FeatherPluma (talk) 22:00, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
- Hellow, I did not know that was copivio, if if so, better than the pages remain so, and when I can, I'll look better information and replace all for now I will limit myself to delete the messages because I do not like them here--Monster Crab (talk) 02:41, 21 April 2015 (UTC)
Hello, User:Monster Crab. Thank you for your addition of a reasonable source. This is an improvement, and I congratulate you. That said, I am not sure why the data you transcribed was slightly dissimilar to the source. Further, you added an unsourced run on conclusion. I do hope that you will soon grasp the way things work so that you can edit without supervision - personally I am not going to be trailing along cleaning up after repeated errors. I suspect that you are a capable person, so please demonstrate precision and accuracy in your work here. Thanks again. FeatherPluma (talk) 14:23, 22 April 2015 (UTC)
Hello, User:Monster Crab. Some friendly advice: your edit was unconstructive. By now, after being handheld with repeated advice about this specific concern, you need to demonstrate you understand and will respect the relevant Wikipedia guidelines: again, specifically, you have to use WP:RS. Please do not add ANY more numbers unless you provide inline, accurate, unequivocal support from proper sources. And you need to demonstrate that you will use the sources accurately. You have had a rocky series of edits but I suspect that you can in fact perform adequately and indeed more than adequately if you chose to do so, but don't worry, the Wikipedia community has infinite patience, all the way until you get yourself blocked. Please don't continue on this path.
I also suggest that you put some thought into letting the input you are receiving stay on your Talk page. While of course it's your prerogative to remove that input, retaining it here and acting upon it would be a much more impressive strategy. Just a suggestion.
I try to be helpful, but it's now appropriate that I close out this issue from my activities, so this matter is now definitively closed between us, and I am stepping away from further input to your Talk page. If you are struggling with the language of the guidelines, please get yourself a mentor, in one of the many ways available, who can help you. Please take the input to heart, and good luck.
