With his biography in spanish and english,
It's possible to include the text?
Francisco Vallejo Pons (born in Mahon, Menorca, on August 21 of 1982), also known as ‘Paco’ Vallejo, is a Spanish chess player who holds the rank of Grand Master
Son of Angel Vallejo Gimenez, military professional, and Felicidad Gomila Pons, was born in Mahon, where the main hospital on the island of Menorca was, but never lived there, but in Villacarlos. All in the family played chess: his grandfather, father and brothers, so at 5 years he learnt how to play by watching them playing. Nissio, a family friend, discovered his capacities when he hadn’t almost learn all chess rules, and then he was sent to the Villacarlos School of Chess, where Guillermo Simó first, and then Jaume Villalonga and Pep Suarez were his first instructors.
His first known international victory was in 1991, when he was 2nd the World Under-10 Tournament in Milwaukee. At 11 he radically changed his life: he began to live in Galicia, far from his family, in the Marcote College in Mondariz, where he combined his ordinary studies with a chess professional career. He had trainers, such as Daniel Piza, Paul Glavina, Andrei Kharlov and Zenón Franco Ocampos.
In 1996 he was awarded the title of International Master, and two years later reached 2nd place behind Spain Miguel Illescas in the Spanish Championship in Linares. Vallejo became Grand Master in 1999, at 16, being the youngest chessplayer to achieve this title in Spanish chess history. At 17 he finished High School, made the selectivity and joined the National Institute of Physical Education of Catalonia, associated centre to the University of Barcelona. Once settled in Residence Muñoz Grandes in Barcelona and started their studies, he participated in the Under-18 World Championship 2000 in Oropesa del Mar, winning it.
At 20 he decided to abandon his studies, as he could not collate them with professional elite chess practice. Since then, he resides in Palma de Mallorca. Vallejo was Veselin Topalov’s trainer in their strategic preparation for the World Chess Championship 2006, obtaining good wins as a result, but not enough to retain the title.
It has a wide and changeable openings repertoire. In July 2011 he had 2724 ELO points, standing then among the 20 active players in the FIDE world ranking, and the first-ranked Spain, ahead of Spanish nationalized Latvian Alexei Shirov. Monscaro (talk) 07:43, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
