Regarding your replacement of various fashion designer articles

[edit]

Please do not add copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 10:33, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re your message: Your changes were reverted back to the previous version and will continue to be reverted because you are copying the designer's biographies from http://www.historyofashion.com/historyofashion/fashionframe.html. That is a copyright violation and is not allowed on Wikipedia. Please stop re-adding the copied biographies. Thank you. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 18:23, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:John_Galliano_Image_at_Design_Museum.jpg

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:John_Galliano_Image_at_Design_Museum.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Calliopejen1 (talk) 05:39, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:The_fashion_designer_John_Galliano.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:The_fashion_designer_John_Galliano.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Image:John_Galliano_Dress.jpg

[edit]

I have tagged Image:John_Galliano_Dress.jpg as {{orphaned fairuse}}. In order for the image to be kept at Wikipedia, it must be included in at least one article. If this image is being used as a link target instead of displayed inline, please add {{not orphan}} to the image description page to prevent it being accidentally marked as orphaned again. Welcome!

[edit]

Hi Mondo della moda, and welcome to Wikipedia! It looks like you had a rough first couple of days but I hope you decide to stay. I have nominated several of your images for deletion. In the future, please only upload photos that you took yourself. Wikipedia is the free encyclopedia, so in general we do not accept copyrighted photos. I'm sure you have seen that Wikipedia's fashion articles are in pretty poor shape, and I noticed that you found the fashion wikiproject. I invite you to sign your name up on the participant list and to look at the to-do list for tasks to do. One helpful thing you might be interested is helping write biographies of current designers. Many are missing from the page Fall 2008 fashion weeks (see all the red links). Be sure to use your own words though, we do not accept text that has been pasted from outside sources. Good luck and happy editing! Calliopejen1 (talk) 05:56, 1 February 2008 (UTC) (founder of WikiProject Fashion)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Hubert de Givenchy in 1952.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Hubert de Givenchy in 1952.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 22:49, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Yves Saint-Laurent in 1962.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BorgQueen (talk) 04:47, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Spanish couturier, Cristobal Balenciaga when young.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
