Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Molliewilliams4, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Ian and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Naming references

[edit]

Please take a look at WP:REFNAME, particularly the section which says Names must not be purely numeric; they should have semantic value so that they can be more easily distinguished from each other by human editors. In straightwashing you have been using names like ref name=":1", which are unhelpful to future editors. Please choose names that clearly identify which source is being used. (Also you might want to take a closer look at Template:cite news; your use of the templates is a bit inconsistent). For instance the parameter |website= (an alias of |work=, |periodical=, etc.), should be something like "The New York Times", not "nytimes.com". I realize it's poorly named and confusing.) Thank you for your work on the articles, and happy editing! Umimmak (talk) 01:06, 2 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
