Copyrighted images on your user page
[edit]Hi,
I wanted to let you know about a problem that a few of your fellow editors have attempted to rectify: On your user page, you cannot use copyrighted images, like the logos of the NBA teams. Our criteria for using copyrighted images expressly prohibit using them on user pages or user talk pages. Doing so violates the copyright of the owner of the image. Because of that, you can't use those logos on your userpage. You are, however, free to use any images that are not copyrighted to liven up your userpage. Please let me know if I can assist you further. --SSBohio 03:47, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
Please don't put copyrighted images back on your userpage. They have been removed three times now. If you persist, it could result in loss of your editing privileges. --SSBohio 03:52, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Editing Template:Affliction Events
[edit]Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. [edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to UFC 107, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources, please take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Drr-darkomen (talk) 23:04, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
- Just as a note to this, unless you have a brand new source for that matchup it isn't reliable. All of the "older" sources out there all list the bout as "tentative" which is defined as "probationary: under terms not final or fully worked out or agreed upon". This means the fight is still up in the air and should not be added until something more concrete surfaces. Thanks. --Drr-darkomen (talk) 23:08, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

[edit]An editor that expressed concerns before now completely ignores the sources and wants to say which sources are valid and which isn't. This in no way helps with the wiki article. Please have a say here:Talk:Strikeforce Sea888 (talk) 23:58, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of 2009 OHSAA Football Playoffs
[edit]A tag has been placed on 2009 OHSAA Football Playoffs requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. You have no reason to revert the bracket. You've given no good reason why it should be done and the previous version is perfectly valid and looks better. Paralympiakos (talk) 19:00, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
- I will just state that I much preferred the borders for the boxes, but I felt that a compromise was needed, so I removed it so we both get a little of what we want.
With regards the episodes in the bracket, it just creates too much clutter, when users can scroll upwards to find out what ep (hence the bolding of fights in the summary). The difference is that the round and method of victory is more important than the episode. Paralympiakos (talk) 20:03, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
- We've already compromised over this. I thought that the matter was over. Please stop reverting the bracket. It's now met in the middle so that both parties are satisfied, so don't try to have your own version of it. Paralympiakos (talk) 23:47, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
- It's a problem because it's too cluttered. It's a massive eyesore. Like I keep saying, it's about compromise. I gave up on the borders. It would nice and respectful for you to give up on adding the episode to the bracket. You are the only one who wants this method as past TUF pages have my method consistently. Once again, please just leave it. Paralympiakos (talk) 23:55, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
- I changed TUF9 because I thought we'd agreed to keep the combined style. I can look at S6 to see your style, but you should look at every other season which has my style (albeit with 1-4 having letters instead of colours). This is the most widely accepted method of a tournament bracket, so please let it die and just leave the seasons of TUF as they are. Paralympiakos (talk) 00:04, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
Finding your messages really hard to read. No idea what you meant by the last one. When has there ever been seeding in it? There are no seeds in TUF. Now I placed a bracket down first, so you should have left it alone. I hope this matter ends here. Please leave the bracket alone or it will be treated as vandalism. Paralympiakos (talk) 00:11, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
- Football is a different case than MMA. A date is important, otherwise no-one would know when the match was played. In this case, the episode is just a single scroll of the mouse up. Please STOP reverting it. I'm getting very bored of reverting. One more and I'm transferring the edits from your IP to here. Paralympiakos (talk) 00:43, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
Edit War at The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights
[edit]I want to caution you in regards to the three revert rule and edit warring. I see you, Paralympiakos and an IP have been having an edit war over the brackets. I haven't looked at it in detail. (I won't see the episodes until Wednesday and doing want to spoil it for myself.) If there are issues other than obvious vandalism, I suggest you take your issues to the article's talk page and work them out there. Otherwise, you are leaving yourself open for a temporary block of editing privileges. --TreyGeek (talk) 00:57, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to The Ultimate Fighter: United States vs. United Kingdom, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you.
It would be a good idea to provide an edit summary to explain your edits. Particularly for edits that may be controversial or need explaining such as changing Andre Winner's flag to a non-UK flag when nothing suggests why he should have anything other than UK flag. TreyGeek (talk) 20:40, 27 December 2009 (UTC)
- You edited UFC 105 changing Winner's flag back to that of Grenada with the edit summary of "no reason why that should be reverted." The reason it should be reverted is that according to Andre Winner's article, he is of British nationality. WP:MOSFLAG offers several guidelines for the use of flags. One of which is a flag should be used to represent a person's nationality, not their place of birth. Further down it states that for sportspeople, a flag should represent the person's sporting nationality at the time of the event, if the flag is used in regards to an event.
- Winner's nationality is British, he was representing Britain in all of his fights thus far, therefore he should have a British flag next to his name. If you have a valid reason why it should be otherwise, I would welcome hearing it.
- PS... don't forget to WP:SIGN your talk page edits. --TreyGeek (talk) 22:36, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
(From TreyGeek's talk page) Andre Winner does not represent Britian he reps. Grenada —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mollica93 (talk • contribs)
- Do you have source to cite that Andre Winner represents Grenada when he fights? What information do you have to back up your claims? Remember that Wikipedia is a place where WP:VERIFIABLE information can be found. Find a source to back up your claims and I will go with it.
- A couple other notes. Again, do not forget to WP:SIGN your talk page comments. Also, the Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines suggests to "Avoid posting the same thread in multiple forums" (WP:MULTI). So, feel free to respond on this page; it allow anyone else who wishes to monitor the discussion or join in and do so easily. --TreyGeek (talk) 00:26, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
(From TreyGeek's talk page) did you watch UFC 105 on the tale of the tape it had Grenada flag not a Union Jack flag — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mollica93 (talk • contribs)
- This issue has been brought up at the MMA WikiProject (link). The flags that the UFC uses in it's tail of the tape graphic is the flag of the fighter's birth country. This is not the country they are a a citizen of or the country that the person is representing in a sporting sense. Thus, that graphic would not be an appropriate source for verifying Winner's nationality in a sporting sense, for that or other events.
- Two additional questions for you. Is there a reason you fail to WP:SIGN your talk page comments? Also, is there a reason you broke this conversation up onto my talk page rather than keeping it here in one place as I suggested/asked? --TreyGeek (talk) 00:57, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
- Mollica, I'm adding this message as a reminder not to change Winner's nationality to Grenada again. UK or ENG is to be used, not Grenada. The reasoning has been provided already. Thanks. Paralympiakos (talk) 20:20, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

[edit]You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Bellator Fighting Championships: Season Two. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period. Additionally, users who perform several reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. List of current UFC fighters
[edit]This is copy/pasted from the discussion about WEC records from the talk page and should answer your question precisely.Thaddeus Venture (talk) 20:14, 26 December 2011 (UTC)
- Ok I understand what you're saying here, and I am in no way interested in including Pride or Strikeforce fighter records, because no new divisions will be or were included with the folding of pride or the inevitable folding of Strikeforce. As I tried to make clear above the UFC created this problem by promoting fighters as UFC champions for what they achieved in their sister organization. If they had automatically made Dan Henderson UFC light heavyweight champion for his Pride or Strikeforce accomplishments, or made Gilbert Melendez UFC lightweight champion for his Strikeforce accomplishments then I would advocate doing the same thing stretching back to the UFC's acquiring of both organizations (which wouldn't be particularly long history for either). But they didn't do that so it's a totally different scenario. Even if the UFC only refers to their UFC record as their official record in UFC fights they handle every single former WEC fighter based upon their WEC achievements, making it much easier to make sense of their place in the division. Thus this is displayed (and noted) here because it provides a clearer picture of the fighters career even within the UFC. On the whole it could be argued that the idea of UFC records is itself a theoretical construction as it is merely a subset of a fighters professional record. Also remember that these WEC records make up only a minority of listed records, thus the category is labeled UFC records and outliers are clearly noted. This seems fair and the simplest way of making sense of the strange enveloping of the WEC by the UFC. If the UFC had decided to do the more complicated thing and make each fighters in effect start from scratch and hold featherweight and bantamweight title fights after a year or two of match ups in the division in the UFC, then I never would have considered including their WEC records, but they took the straightest path through the mud and essentially just copied and pasted the divisions over treating each fighter based entirely upon his WEC career, so this reflects that. Once again, as time goes on this will become less and less of a problem because fewer and fewer of these fighters will be around, but in the meantime this just makes more sense. I could relabel the divisions if it was that important, but at that point it's just an argument over semantics. Thaddeus Venture (talk) 00:01, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
- Essentially, it's an organizational thing.Thaddeus Venture (talk) 20:14, 26 December 2011 (UTC)
