Kind of back?

Kind of back is better than 'not back at all'. Your good friend "you know who" returned after realising his main IP was past it's 6 months block. I asked Admin Daniel for assistance. His case was re-opened and his IPs blocked for another 6 months. Look at the edit history of Iron Maiden... particularly at the edits of Mr Hooks21101 from early in November. He became a bit of a comic relief moment around here. Especially his comments on my static IP talk page. I have expressed concern to Daniel about 2 other editors. One who's been frequenting Phish related articles. And the other who has been editing the List of Iron Maiden band members article recently. I believe they may have a "hand inside them" working their edits. But time will tell. Nice to see you back. Have a nice day! 156.34.224.2 (talk) 00:50, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Hey there; thanks for the welcome back. I was busy with work, concerts, and weekend stuff since the time I left. With it getting colder now and darker earlier, I am in more often, so I will be around. Don't know how much. Keep me abreast of anything like this ... if nothing else, it is good for a laugh. Cheers! -- moe.RON Let's talk | done 03:03, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Have a minute... picture question

Check out the image uploads from Authrom (talk · contribs). Lots of logos... self-made full release claims. Is that legit? 156.34.215.188 (talk) 02:32, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

And... since I have your attention... Mr Fnlayson ( normally a quality editor ) is having a bit of a struggle with WP:FAIR over on the Lynyrd Skynyrd article. It's a standard "album covers aren't fair-use here" situation. I added very clear edit summaries to help him to understand but he hasn't read the policy thoroughly and does not understand it correctly. Some assistance next time your about. thanks! 156.34.215.188 (talk) 02:58, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
I have been away for awhile, so I may be rusty here, but here is my thoughts on the logos: I personally do not see the purpose of logos for lesser-known subjects. Popular logos, such as the one for Google.com, should be used, but when it comes to bands and such, I find their inclusion nothing more than vanity. I find the inclusion of self-made logos even more disconcerting, since it is bordering line copyright infringement. Looking through WP:FU and WP:LOGOS (which is just a guideline) seems to come to the same conclusion. Also, if there is no firm, discernible, well-used logo for a band and this user has just made up logo images in order to make the article stand out (in lieu of a band photo), then I think the images are even less helpful to Wikipedia and would break policy (WP:FU). Anyway, that is all mostly my opinion. My suggestion would be to bring the topic up for discussion at WP:FU or WP:LOGOS or, if you don't think you will get a fair shake due to IP-bias, look for someone in those talk pages that seem knowledgeable enough and contact them directly (Perhaps even User:Betacommand, though he is often busy). Feel free to link this discussion/reply as well if you feel it would help. -- moe.RON Let's talk | done 20:41, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:PhishCompanion2.JPG

Thank you for uploading Image:PhishCompanion2.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 15:24, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:AP-TiS.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

List of Roswell episodes

Hi Moeron, I've proposed merging the individual Roswell episode articles into List of Roswell episodes. As a significant contributor to those articles your opinion is welcome at Talk:List of Roswell episodes. D0762 (talk) 13:23, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

Digital Terrestrial Television in Ireland

You have stated that the article appears to contradict itself. In fact that does not appear to be so from my reading. The article relates to 2 periods. First the 2001 period where an attempted DTT never got off the ground. The 2nd is the 2 year trial which is in effect the beginning of the DTT rollout since RTE NL will also be involved in renting carriage to the commercial DTT company due to be shortly decided. Please indicate where exactly the contradiction to you appears to lie and you may modify the page accordingly. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Scathain (talkcontribs) 21:03, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Phish and their music

I have nominated Phish and their music, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Phish and their music. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Calling all active WP:NOVELS members

WikiProject Novels Roll Call

WikiProject Novels is currently holding a roll call, which we hope to have annually. Your username is listed on the members list, but we are unsure as to which editors are still active within the project. If you still consider yourself an active WP:Novels editor, please add your name back to the Active Members list. Also feel free to join any of our task forces and take a look at the project's Job Centre to get involved!

Next month we will begin the coordinator election selection process. We hope to have more involvement and input this time around! More news will be forthcoming. Thanks, everyone! María (habla conmigo) 18:47, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

Please, Clarify, Your, Talk, Page, Posts

Please would you kindly CLARIFY what you are getting at with your talk page posts. What you have written is generic and unhelpful. I have asked you for clarification once already which you have failed to provide. Please. Provide this.--TopHyatt (talk) 21:16, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

Please read WP:WEASEL; while we welcome your edits, you are not contributing anything to these articles more than further elaborating facts or statements. Also, some of the edits are including unsourced assertions, such as "the revered" and "in actual fact". -- moe.RON Let's talk | done 21:21, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi, I removed your speedy tag since I couldn't find an earlier AfD. Let me know if I missed something. Feel free to take it to AfD if you'd like, but I can't think of any reason to speedily delete it. Best wishes/ Pax:Vobiscum (talk) 01:13, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, I guess I used the wrong tag. I will just Prod it again, which led to it being erased by the author and then speedied due to lack of content. Thanks! -- moe.RON Let's talk | done 01:30, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

how was what I said 'vandalism' ?

all I did was put real information on the page.

What I said:

"Bernice is a surname or given name. The name is given to ONLY females and is pronouced 'ber-niece' or 'ben-ece'. Probably originated in bibical times. Frequently in ACTS in the New Testament as the sister of King Herod."

Now, how is that inappropriate? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sneakyandsexy (talkcontribs) 06:34, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi! I think they might be two different books, but I'm not sure.Anyway in my book it's on page 226 (2008 edition) and it's not quite an entry, but just a picture on a page that explains telescoping bolts, with few explanations of the weapon itself, so that's why there's not much on the wiki page. Amendola90 (talk) 20:20, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Gotcha; cheers! -- moe.RON Let's talk | done 20:22, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Thankyou.

Could you please explain the rules I have broken, and cite I wrote that was "Original Research." I am new to Wikipedia. Is there any other way I can contribute to the article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by LethargicTurtle (talkcontribs) 18:45, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

Oh!

Thanks, Moeron. I understand perfectly now why it was removed. I'll read the policy you mentioned here. In future, I'll remember to cite reliable sources. I appreciate your help. —Preceding unsigned comment added by LethargicTurtle (talkcontribs) 21:23, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi, thank you for the message and yes, you are right, I didn't notice the revert by an admin, so I am sorry about that. I still believe the article is a candidate for speedy deletion though, so (as I am relatively new to this) could you please advise me on how I can propose the article again (or if you could do it yourself as an admin?). Thanks, Anthony 62.103.147.54 (talk) 23:46, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

  • Usually, unless I feel very strongly about a page, I will step away for a couple of days before nominating for further deletion. However, if you feel the need to do so, your first option is to PROD the page, followed by sending it to Articles for Deletion discussion.
  1. By putting {{subst:prod|YOUR REASON HERE}} on the page, someone will need to rectify your complaint of the page. If, after five days no one does OR doesn't removes the PROD template, the page will be deleted. At this stage, anyone can remove the PROD template if they feel the page meets requirements, even without an explanation.
  2. Your next avenue after that would be nominating it for deletion through WP:AFD; that is a bit more in-depth so I suggest reading up about it at WP:AFD and/or Wikipedia:DELETE#Processes. If you need to go to that level, feel free to come back for help.

Incorrect

You recently made an incorrect comment to RMHED (talk · contribs), specifically, this edit where you say "While it is true that non-admins may close WP:AFD discussion, this is not so for speedy requests."

Please see Wikipedia:Deletion_policy#Speedy_deletion: "Anyone except a page's creator may contest the speedy deletion of a page by removing the deletion notice from the page." The user is now blocked. If I were you, I would apologize on his talk page. Toddst1 (talk) 00:15, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

I already found that, as I stated in the users talk page. -- moe.RON Let's talk | done 00:16, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
