If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Cockatoo Hotel requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://blogs.dailybreeze.com/history/2009/03/20/the-cockatoo-inn-former-south-bay-hot-spot-fell-on-cold-times/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ITN recognition for 2019 Iran floods

[edit]

On 4 April 2019, In the news was updated with an item that involved the article 2019 Iran floods, which you created. If you know of another recently created or updated article suitable for inclusion in ITN, please suggest it on the candidates page.

Your addition (COPYVIO)

[edit]

I reverted your addition to Jimmy Carter's engagement with Khomeini. While I understand you tried to improve/expand the article, large parts of your additions violated WP:COPYVIO. You need to rephrase the information you want to add in your own words. If you have further questions, please let me know. - LouisAragon (talk) 21:33, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Likewise for Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. This is your second third and final warning about that. We can't have repeated copyrights violations continue. Making sure these sort of things don't proliferate is essential to the survival of the Wikipedia project. Thanks in advance. El_C 22:47, 19 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Messages are left at user talk pages, not user pages. Anyway, you did more than paraphrase. You need to write your own prose. El_C 00:38, 21 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Block

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for copyrights violations (you were warned 3 times).
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I was blocked for citation when I edited Mohamad Reza Pahlavi achievements section. However, the content I added was not copyright I completely rephrased and reordered information from sources. Every time he cited my copyright I went back and changed it. I even changed the prose yet El_C still cited my work as copyright and banned me. He clearly did not bother rereading my work or comparing it to my sources.

Decline reason:

The block was within policy. Contrubuting to Wikipedia requires an understanding of, and respect for, copyright and licensing matters. It is not sufficient to closely paraphrase source material by changing a few words here and there to "make it yours." UninvitedCompany 20:06, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

This user was warned about inserting (and reinserting) copyvio multiple times, yet they continue to deny they engage in this. Example (from the first sentence):

shah’s rapid modernization programs quickly raised the standard of living in Iran and paved the way for their the social and economic mobility of their children. [includes the typo — bold is my emphasis]

Copyvio of shah.tv-o.link/. El_C 00:52, 27 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I did a copyvio check with a random revision from his contributions and found this. Not sure of who copied from the other, but the most recent version has only a 30.6% chance ([1]). Jannik Schwaß (talk) 05:15, 27 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I'm not inclined to unblock based on that. From the beginning, too much of the content was also on shah.tv-o.link. The fact that even the typo remained throughout all this time is pretty convincing to me. We are not robots and those tools have their limits. El_C 09:08, 27 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed. The Earwig tool is very useful as a first clue, but indications of accuracy to 1 decimal place are to be entirely disregarded, and matches must be examined by humans. I've seen blatant copyright violations where the tool gave a very low match - it's based on algorithms which clearly sometimes don't work well with some texts.
