Frankfurt School

As I wrote on the talk page there, the current treatment of so-called "Cultural Marxism" was arrived at by RfC and there has been no consensus- or even policy-supported arguments- to change the treatment (or the section title) since that time. No reliable sources treat "Cultural Marxism" as anything other than a conspiracy theory: all we have supporting such interpretations are the unsupported opinions of politicians, op-ed writers, and academics without relevant expertise. Response: The section of your page is about specific historical uses of the term by various groups. I'm speaking about the concept / political theory, you are restricting that through saying it is simply a term previously used by hate groups or right-wing conspiracy theories.

"Promoting a Marxist agenda through 'soft' means, not through economic and military."

'Cultural Marxism' is the term that fits that completely. What alternate terminology would you propose to use for that?

To me what you are saying is similar to saying that the theory of Socialism is restricted to hate-group conspiracy theories, because it was part of the name and co-opted in a twisted way by National Socialism - clearly that is untrue. That is just one example of many, along the same lines.

If you are unwilling to make reasonable concessions on this, I would like to be able to help edit that section, I am not dogmatic and am reasonable. I have done quite a bit of professional writing and editing, and majored in Political Science at a University in Washington DC.

or I would like to create a new page purely on the political theory Cultural Marxism, but creating a new page doesn't appear possible currently, unless I am missing something. I would certainly welcome other people into editing, who may have different information and views, and of course mention uses of the term by any racist or hate groups.

This proposal has repeatedly been made before, but the fact remains that there is no reliable scholarship suggesting that the "long march through the universities" (or the "cultural turn") was ever significantly referred to as "Cultural Marxism" by either its proponents or its RS detractors. All of the scholarship that been cited to date in discussions on the Frankfurt School talk page has either used the phrase "Cultural Marxism" in passing or not at all - never as a theoretically elaborated concept.

If you do want to write about Marxism and culture, there is sourced information that could undoubtedly be added to Frankfurt School, to Cultural studies#British Cultural Studies, to Critical legal studies and probably elsewhere. What WP does not need (and cannot accept) is an article based on WP:SYNTH, without RS literature documenting its core assumptions, and sharing a label with a widespread but easily debunked conspiracy theory.
