Welcome!
[edit]Hello, Mm9656, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Ian and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.
I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Talk to your teacher about disulfide formation
[edit]Disulfides form from thiols via redox processes. In some ways, the reaction could be considered condensation to the extent that it proceeds via sulfenic acids reacting with thiols, but it is convention to classify disulfide formation as a redox process. You could develop that theme in disulfide article, if it hasnt already been done.--Smokefoot (talk) 15:55, 28 December 2017 (UTC)
- smokefoot Redox and condensation are not mutually exclusive reactions
Using talk pages
[edit]Quick note on the logistics of discussing things on Talk pages, which are essential for everything that happens here. In Talk page discussions, we "thread" comments by indenting - when you reply to someone, you put a colon in front of your comment, which the Wikipedia software will render into an indent when you save your edit; if the other person has indented once, then you indent twice by putting two colons in front of your comment, which the WP software converts into two indents, and when that gets ridiculous you reset back to the margin (or "outdent") by putting this {{od}} in front of your comment. This also allows you to make it clear if you are also responding to something that someone else responded to if there are more than two people in the discussion; in that case you would indent the same amount as the person just above you in the thread.
And at the end of the comment, please "sign" by typing exactly four (not 3 or 5) tildas "~~~~" which the WP software converts into a date stamp and links to your talk and user pages when you save your edit.
That is how we know who said what, and to whom. Jytdog (talk) 03:59, 29 December 2017 (UTC)
Manual of style
[edit]Please review WP:MOS generally with regard to formatting sections and section headers. Please also see WP:CHEMMOS for the manual of style for chemistry. Jytdog (talk) 04:00, 29 December 2017 (UTC)
Warning
[edit]Please do not attack other editors, as you did at Talk:Condensation reaction. Comment on content, not on contributors. Personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you. Jytdog (talk) 06:56, 29 December 2017 (UTC)
- I did not attack smokefoot, he has been harassing my entire class and using harmful language in talk pages. Mm9656 (talk) 13:10, 29 December 2017 (UTC)
- Jytdog I also would like to point out the interaction on the organometallic chemistry talk page Talk:Organometallic Chemistry between mastrofran and Smokefoot. It is very disconcerting to me when there consistently snarky behavior towards students attempting only to better the community and calling a student an "asshole" on a public talk page should never be tolerated. Mm9656 (talk) 14:44, 29 December 2017 (UTC)
- I was calling myself an asshole and, using your term, a troll in an attempt to put you at ease so that we could re-focus on the questions dealing with organometallic chemistry. Please think about those questions and address them. Some of us editors with a lot of experience with the topic are dedicating time to help you gain some perspective, so play ball with us and let's learn together.--Smokefoot (talk) 17:12, 29 December 2017 (UTC)
