Please do not add or change content without verifying it by citing reliable sources, as you did to Taos, New Mexico. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Yworo (talk) 02:26, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
- Please note that the source cited in that article is supporting the 'format' column only. The only acceptable source for radio station call signs is the FCC's database - see [1] for the record for that station, and [2] to validate the call sign history for that station. - Due to Yworo's templating you (a regular), I have posted a note (or two) on his talk page. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 11:12, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
- Of course, I'm sure you realize that WP:DTTR is only an essay, and one which I am free to disagree with and ignore without permission from you, Neutralhomer. Yworo (talk) 15:35, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
- Mlaffs, so I am trying to understand this. Are you saying that call signs are exempt from our sourcing requirements because they can be found in the FCC database? Normally I tend to ignore whether or not the call signs are cited, but it seemed to me that a change in call sign would need a citation. P.S. I live in Taos, and hadn't heard anything about this change, which is why I reverted and requested a citation. Yworo (talk) 15:35, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
- No, no - nothing's really exempt from sourcing requirements, although unfortunately sourcing is observed more in the breach than anything. My real point, which I could probably have explained better, is that only the format column was sourced - the change that I had made was to the call sign, so asking me to provide a citation for that call sign specifically when none of the others were cited seemed a bit offside.
- Regardless, we've come to a better place now. Whatever the source that was being used was, it certainly wasn't reliable. The Radio Locator site that Neutralhomer has cited as a source in updating that page is far better, as they use FCC source files to power their listings. Mlaffs (talk) 15:59, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
- Well, I've restored those stations that were deleted. Please see my note on Talk:Taos, New Mexico. People not familiar with the area should not really be messing with this. Yworo (talk) 16:13, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
Dravecky said the station didn't change letters. He has changed the article to reflect this.— Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 18:12, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
- Well, per the FCC's records, there certainly hasn't been a change yet. I'm not quite sure why you're telling me this, though - can you help trigger my memory, please? :>) Mlaffs (talk) 18:27, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry, you were the one that had "station has changed call signs" in your edit summaries. User:Robertmajor is the one who needed reverting. And this person's entire contribution history is the change by WSPO to WIOP. Another user who has made changes in the article has a similiar name.— Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 18:43, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
- Got it - I get the confusion now. That edit summary was actually for WIOP becoming WMXZ back in March. As long as it all gets straight! Mlaffs (talk) 19:44, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
