Template:Callsigndis
I noticed a problem with your template. When cleaning disambiguation links with a program like wikipedia cleaner, the pages with your template don't show up in that program. I noticed that while cleaning the WATZ dab links, at first the WATZ links were showing up in the program until you changed the template. Just thought I'd give you the heads up on that. - Hi, I answered also on the French wiki. You just need to update MediaWiki:Disambiguationspage. --NicoV (talk) 22:35, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks much! It's been taken care of — it ought to show up properly now. Mlaffs (talk) 00:06, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of KCTB
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article KCTB, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:
- Disambiguation page with nothing but redlinks.
All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. §FreeRangeFrog 05:14, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
- I see you have reverted the redirection to restore the all-redlink dab page. This is asking for an AfD (dab pages with no blue links are invalid ones per WP:DAB) that would most likely be fast and resulting in deletion. I hope you plan on writing the appropriate article(s) before we have to discuss it in a deletion discussion. In the meantime, I am preserving the title by reverting your reversion as it does have an appropriate target - when your article for the station is ready to be written, the redirect can be overwritten per WP:Redirect and WP:RfD. Please do not revert if you do not plan to overwrite. Thank you. B.Wind (talk) 19:12, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
- I have also reverted the redirection as I have created the radio station page linked to on the disambig page. If there are other pages like this, please let me know and I will create more radio station pages. Take Care...NeutralHomer • Talk • February 7, 2009 @ 19:29
AfD nomination of Garrison Courtney
Garrison Courtney, an article that you contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. The nominator does not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Garrison Courtney. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns.Esasus (talk) 17:03, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
AM/FM frequency dab pages - state postal codes
No problem, thank me if and when I ever finish (just kidding, I'm on a roll). I didn't do Canada and Mexico, though I easily could at the same time while I do the remaining US stations. I'm using an external editing program that I wrote. If you think it's a good idea, Canadian provinces should be familiar enough to me that I can confidently add them to the program. If you know where there is a dependable list of Mexican states, let me know. Chris the speller (talk) 21:55, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- Well, I was going to say that doing Canada while you're going would be a great idea, but it looks like you've already started. That's home base for me, so let me know if you see an abbreviation with which you're not familiar. As for Mexico, I don't know any of them myself, but this Wikipedia article ought to be a good source. Mlaffs (talk) 07:17, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
- The only anomaly for Canada so far is a couple of NF's, which I have been treating as NL. I have already reaped a good reward from this: while eyeballing 1340 AM, I saw a station in Arcata, which reminded me of the elegantly irreverent police log available at the newspaper's web site, arcataeye.com, which I had not visited in a long time. I bet your local paper never does police log entries in the form of limericks, as this site sometimes does. OK, all laughed out and back to business - Mexico presents a problem, with BCN and BCS, COA and COL, TAB and TAM. Should I just do the ones where the ISO 3166 codes truncate to unique 2-letter codes? Is a partial conversion of these any uglier or more confusing than leaving them as is? The current 2-letter codes may not be very helpful to the anglophone readers of Wikipedia, as it is likely that very few of them are familiar with all the states of Mexico. Your thoughts, please. Chris the speller (talk) 16:24, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
- Good call on the NF/NL issue — even most Canadians still aren't used to thinking of the full name of the province. For Mexico, I'd say that you're probably better off not converting any of them if you can't convert all of them. Seems to me that it would be little ugly for it to be patchwork like that. The actual number of Mexican stations isn't that large comparatively so, if you want to leave them, I can go back through and do the necessary research to make sure the right state gets inserted once I'm finished verifying the stations themselves. I'll poke around too and see if I can figure out what source the person who originally created these pages got their info from — that might also give a clue as to the logic behind the 2-letter codes. Mlaffs (talk) 17:37, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
- I'm running into a bunch where the Mexican states are already spelled out, so that's going onto the back burner. Chris the speller (talk) 17:48, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
- I think I got 'em all (Canada and US), and along the way removed a lot of blue links for cities in Australia. It was a lot of fun at first, then got rather boring, but it didn't take forever. Let me know if I missed any, and otherwise, happy editing! Chris the speller (talk) 03:14, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
- Sweet — thanks again! That's an enormous help. Mlaffs (talk) 03:30, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
