Blanking User Talk Page

[edit]

In general, you shouldn't blank your user talk page (or any talk page, for that matter). It forms a permanent record, and deleting portions of talk pages is usually considered vandalism. You can, however, archive any discussions that you want to a sub-page so they don't show up on the main talk page. (You can look at my talk page for an example, although others do a much better job than I do)

To create a sub-page, just add a link on your talk page and click on it. To do this:

  • Edit your talk page.
  • Add a link to a subpage (e.g. [[/Archive]])
  • Cut what you want moved
  • Save your main talk page
  • Click on the link to create the subpage
  • Paste what you cut into the new page

Don't worry, we all started out by making mistakes. My first wikipedia edit was quite long, and got stripped down to a few sentences. Just remember, your ideas are as valid as anyone else's, but the more you become involved, the more others will respect them. ;^) wrp103 (Bill Pringle) 20:01, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
