Hello. I wanted to create an article I See Sam, but have a potential conflict of interest which I'd rather not disclose the details of. I was wondering if somebody could look at the page and let me know if it looks like it meets the standards of a Wikipedia article and let me know how/if I should proceed with creating the article, or if somebody else should/could create the page for me. I am open to any suggestions. Mitartep (talk) 06:55, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for declaring you have a COI. It looks as though not all the information is verifiable at the moment, e.g. "Much of the content of the "I See Sam Books" is incorporated into the first two sets of RALP "little books." The changes, while leaving much of the original artwork and stories intact, were substantive enough to meet federal copyright requirements and allow copyright to be placed on the RALP version". This is always a problem writing about a subject you are connected to as you are likely to use information based on your experience rather than from reliable sources. I'm not entirely sure that the notability requirements of Wikipedia:NBOOK. If you could find more independent sources to show why the books are notable it would be helpful. Well done for making a draft though instead of going straight into mainspace. I'll keep an eye on the draft and provide some more pointers if you need them. Smartse (talk) 11:25, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for your frank opinion. Your comments are largely what I suspected, and I appreciate the link to Wikipedia:NBOOK. I had read the general notability article, but somehow overlooked the one related specifically to books. A review of the criteria makes me agree that this article may not meet the notability criteria. I have removed the request edit tag, and plan to contemplate the article for a few days. I will then likely move on to other (more notable) projects. Mitartep (talk) 03:26, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
Hello Iseesam. Welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your edits to my draft page (user:Mitartep/draft)). I have to admit I've been kind of just ignoring it for a while wondering if it meets notability requirements of Wikipedia:NBOOK. Before you started working on it, I was thinking of overwriting the whole page with something completely different. If you could add some independent sources to show why the books are notable it would be helpful. Feel free to do whatever you want with the page. If you want to copy it someplace else, that's fine with me - let me know after you do so, so that I can see what you've done with it.Mitartep (talk) 01:27, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
