FIBA information is wrong

[edit]

I am coming to your rescue regarding the issue of who won the 1988 Tournament of the Americas Olympic Qualifier in Montevideo, Uruguay. The information at http://archive.fiba.com/pages/eng/fa/event/p/cid/COPSM/sid/3008/_/1988_American_Olympic_Qualifying_Tournament_for_Men/index.html is totally wrong. The information at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1988_Tournament_of_the_Americas is indeed correct and I have the articles and videos to prove it. I have corrected the information contained in article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puerto_Rico_national_basketball_team to reflect this and have added a footnote to support my thesis. I am not going to make an issue of this and will not change it, even though I would believe FIBA's page over wikipedia data. If FIBA is wrong, let them correct it. I will assume good faith in your source, even though I have no way of double checking it.--Coquidragon (talk) 23:37, 30 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the file. I would like to ask you, do you have a source for Puerto Rico at the Central American and Caribbean Games? I have a source (which is indicated in the article) but I have no second source, nor do I know if the source is reliable. It is also incomplete. Thanks in advance. --Coquidragon (talk) 14:50, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Could you be more specific? Please give me a link to the article so I can check it out.Misterfrisky (talk) 17:05, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you see the CA&C Games at the article (Puerto Rico national basketball team#Performance at the Central American and Caribbean Games, there is information missing. The medal and position statistics came from http://www.todor66.com/basketball/Centrobasket/index_Men_CAG.html which I don´t know if it is reliable. Do you have a source for Puerto Rico's performance at these games? Thanks.--Coquidragon (talk) 18:45, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that was a very dark period in our National Team's History. I'm afraid the information at todor66 is correct. As I recall, not only was the team in a state of flux, (some players retiring and others developing) but the upper tier players were all playing in their respective leagues in Europe, South America, etc., therefore the team we sent was composed mostly of 2nd and 3rd stringers. Anyway, the top players never attended these types of tournaments. If you recall the Mar Del Plata incident, this team can get very controversial when they are not winning, hence a lot of finger pointing and coaching replacements. I'm amazed that Manolo Cintron has lasted this long!Misterfrisky (talk) 16:45, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Do you know how PR finished in 1938 and 1950? That information is missing.--Coquidragon (talk) 18:30, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Coquidragon - sorry I've been very busy and have not logged in for awhile. In answer to your question, No, I have no information, sorry. I have been asked to help in creating an article which I deem is of great importance to us all. As you know Angel "Monchito" Cruz has gone missing for 13 years. Inasmuchas Munch was a dear and personal friend I have contacted his family to create an article to honor him in wiki. I just started it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angel_%22Munch%22_Cruz and will develop it in the coming weeks with info his family will provide. Please see http://www.slamonline.com/online/other-ballers/streetball/2010/08/original-old-school-missing-the-point/ Please let me know what you think.Misterfrisky (talk) 14:46, 19 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
