Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. One of the core policies of Wikipedia is that articles should always be written from a neutral point of view. A contribution you made to Unidentified flying object appears to carry a non-neutral point of view, and your edit may have been changed or reverted to correct the problem. Please remember to observe this important core policy. Thank you. ScienceApologist (talk) 14:53, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Colonel William Polk

[edit]

Sir, I have been working for weeks on this article. Don't believe me? check out:http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:EricCable/WilliamPolk&limit=500&action=history

That is why I marked it as {{inuse}} earlier today.

Please take a look at my version and I think you'll see I've done a very thorough job. If you have anything to add, please let me know. Also, in order to keep the wikinazis off your case, I suggest you learn how to use Harvard inline citation for your future work.

Cheers,  Eric Cable  |  Talk  19:00, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You can see how to do that type of citation here: User:Chzz/demo/harvref
I hope you don't think I'm being a jerk here. I see you changed on eword on this article back in June, but have not touched it since. Are you here in North Carolina? Are you a Mason? Then again, I don't even know if you look at this page. Eric Cable  |  Talk  19:18, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your post on my talk page

[edit]

Hi! OK, I'm glad we're going to collaborate instead of getting into a "my verson's better!" "No, MY verson is better!" contest.
Last surviving officer vs. field officer: YES, I meant to change that before publishing, but in response to your work I was in a bit of a rush to go live. I have made that change.

YES, by all means if you find typos, etc. please correct as appropriate. If you find factual errors such as the officer vs. field officer one, let me know so I can review my sources. After all, we want to make an accurate article, right?

Colonel Polk was the founding master of Phalanx Lodge No. 31 AF&AM here in Charlotte. I need to pay them a visit and get a photo of their charter. I will then add a freemason section to the article move the note about grand master, and include "He was the founding mater of Phalanx..." of which the photo of the charter would be the penultimate source. Also, I have been in contact with the only remaining lodge that was chartered under his tenure as grand master (can't remember the name off-hand). They are going to try to get a good photo of their charter which will have Polk's signature which I will add to the infobox.

Regarding the additional protrait you have, do you know how to upload it to wikipedia without it getting immediately deleted by the wikinazis? If not, let me know and you can email me the photo and I'll take care of it. I have a rought photo of a painting of an elderly Polk which would make a nice addition as well.

Finally, I have been in contact with the Wake County library to get a copy (print off microfilm) of the newspaper that contains Polk's speech at Lafayettes's visit. I would post that the same way I posted the statute dedication speech.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
