Thanks :-)

Hello and thank you! Being quite a newbie I will certainly have some questions to ask in the future. Have done most of my "work" up to now by imitating what others do ;-) Why do you call yourself Amalthea?

Best! --Mirjam Amalthea (talk) 14:06, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Mere chance, actually: all my usual nicknames were taken so I used Special:Random which dropped me off Amalthea (moon). Little did I know that that the moon was named after a nymph ... :) Amalthea 08:31, 28 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Random?! Now I am almonst offended (or amused by 'random's' good taste)... I took the name from The Last Unicorn, which is my diploma thesis topic... was aware of its origin in mythology, as Zeus' foster mother, but did not know about the moon... nice :-) (or, in Facebook speech - Like. ;-)) Mirjam Amalthea (talk) 11:32, 4 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Heh, sorry to disappoint. Someone once asked whether I was related to the Amalthea man, that would have been a much more intriguing story I'm sure. :)
And I'm embarrassed to admit I still have neither read nor seen The Last Unicorn ...

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Dear Mirjam,

I would like to inform you that you edit is just slightly wrong in the section of cyber: uses and meanings, in the internet related prefixes page. Because, I can count you with many Tech firms that include cyber with Technologies. To name a few I will define big names like, Cyber Tech (Spelljammer: Pirates of Realmspace) and Cyber net communications. It is derived from the word cybernetics, but now it is also used in the early age of internet era, that is now it can also be used with any form of communications, technology or computers, and as it is also clearly described in the first paragraph of internet related prefixes. I am not reverting your changes and not saying wrong to you, but please contact me back to discuss and revert some changes.

Thanks, Saad. ~~SB~~
