Removal of Speed Deletion tag

[edit]

Hi. I have removed the tag for speedy deletion. In the future, it might be helpful to use the sandbox as you are building your page. Please let me know if I can be of any help as you continue editing on Wikipedia. --digitalmischief (talk) 08:06, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

see, that's the great thing about Wikipedia. You can't break anything. And don't be afraid to stand up for your work. All new articles will be challenged several times, so it's best to be prepared. You might want to set up your userpage, in preparation of future communication. Also, the best way to get help is to ask any editors who challenge your work. It keeps us honest. ;o) --digitalmischief (talk) 08:22, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Molo, musician

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Molo, musician requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Templarion (talk) 16:06, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

reasons

[edit]

There are two problems

  • the article is spammy - why else is there an availability section?
  • There seems to be little in the way of independent verifiable references to show that he meets the notability guidelines

jimfbleak (talk) 16:07, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Since you keep reposting the article, I've protected it. I'll put the text here so you can work on it. Let me know when it is ready and Ii'll lift the protection. jimfbleak (talk) 16:12, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think messages crossed, if still unclear, let me know jimfbleak (talk) 16:13, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You need to lose Availability altogether - if people want it, they will find it. You need be able to show that this guy is notable as defined in the criteria jimfbleak (talk) 16:17, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'll be off-line for a few hours soon, but obviously you'll reed a bit of time to find references anyway jimfbleak (talk) 16:19, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 16:24, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Ruta 800

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Ruta 800 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a musical recording which does not indicate why its subject is important or significant, and where the artist's article has never existed, has been deleted or is eligible for deletion itself. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for music.

Speedy Deletions

[edit]

Simply put, in order for something to have an article on Wikipeida, it must be notable. Please read WP:NOTE to get an idea as to what comprises notability. Simply put, I don't see any real reasoning for why this album or artist is notable, and so I don't think it meets the criteria, especially if it is a newer artist/album. Templarion (talk) 17:56, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Especially when the artist himself is not notable, you need media coverage to establish notability. Templarion (talk) 18:00, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

References

[edit]

Needs to be something reliable - if he's notable, there will be articles in the national and specialist music press (most have on-line versions), award and chart sites etc. Not company or fan sites, or websites of dubious origins, or self created like myspace etc. If you can't find such references, he will probably be deleted on notability grounds anyway jimfbleak (talk) 18:39, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think I give up for today!

[edit]

This is frustrating :( I just wanted to write about my favorite artist, that isn't currently on Wikipedia, and well, it seems that Wikipedia is so global that local entries don't count as notable. I'm sad.

Search for sources to back up your assertions. These can be online, or in print... reviews that might have appeared in a local newspaper, national tour listings, online record company information, ratings or sales...etc. If the musical act has merit, you will find references to back you up. Don't give up, just "back it up." —Preceding unsigned comment added by Digitalmischief (talkcontribs) 04:40, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Ruta 800.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Ruta 800.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 07:22, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
