[edit]- Leidl (Lidel, Lidl)
Bass singer in the choir. A certain Herr Leidl sang Schubert's 'Der Wanderer' at a concert in Lubljana on 28 November 1851, and the quartet from Flotow's Martha with some others on 12 December. [1], p. 252. He also sang Ferrando (bass) in Il Trovatore in Timisoara, Rumania in 1858, with Leopold von Sonnleithner as Manrico (tenor). [2], p.78
Otherwise (less likely, but more interesting) there is a cellist, Joseph Lidl, the gransdon of Andreas, baryton player & composer with Esterhazy & Haydn, d. London.[3]. Joseph Lidl played with Mozart's son in December 1840.[4] Lidel (etc.) played as a student in a quartet in Munich with fellow students Jakob Zeugheer (later the first permanent conductor of the Liverpool Phil), and Joseph Wex (violins), and Carl Baader (viola). Chris Walton, Mendelssohn on the Mersey: the lives and work of Jakob Zeugheer. The Musical Times, Vol. 151, No. 1912 (Autumn 2010), p. 29. MinorProphet (talk) 11:08, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
