Firstly I wanted to thank you for your work on the Lebanon national team article, I really appreciate it!

Secondly, I wanted to ask what the anchor template does, and why you changed the title from “1957-79: Pre-Civil War” to just “1957-79”.

Thanks for the kind words. {{Anchor}} is used when a section header is changed; it creates an HTML link to the original header, to avoid breaking links to it. I changed it because, IMO, the original header was a bit clunky; not every section header needs a subtitle. Feel free to change it back, though :-). Ok I see. Also, grammatically speaking, why did you change “this would be Lebanon’s biggest win at that point” to “this tied Lebanon’s biggest win to date”? That match in question was Lebanon’s biggest win at that point in time, today that record is held by another match.

WP:WBA#State the obvious is informative; I tried to clarify the sentence ("to date", in this context, means "up to that time"). Encyclopedic prose is, by nature, "flatter" than the typical prose in a book. Miniapolis 04:10, 1 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Just so you know, despite technically creating the page you're referring to, almost a decade ago, I'm not responsible for the form you found it in. I just created a redirect to another person named Joshua Foster, who happened to be the only one with an article on Wikipedia at the time of its creation.. Guideline and policy news

There are a number of new or changed speedy deletion criteria, each previously part of WP:CSD#G6:

G14 (new): Disambiguation pages that disambiguate only zero or one existing pages are now covered under the new G14 criterion (discussion). This is {{db-disambig}}; the text is unchanged and candidates may be found in Category:Candidates for speedy deletion as unnecessary disambiguation pages.
R4 (new): Redirects in the file namespace (and no file links) that have the same name as a file or redirect at Commons are now covered under the new R4 criterion (discussion). This is {{db-redircom}}; the text is unchanged.
G13 (expanded): Userspace drafts containing only the default Article Wizard text are now covered under G13 along with other drafts (discussion). Such blank drafts are now eligible after six months rather than one year, and taggers continue to use {{db-blankdraft}}.

The Wikimedia Foundation now requires all interface administrators to enable two-factor authentication.
Members of the Bot Approvals Group (BAG) are now subject to an activity requirement. After two years without any bot-related activity (e.g. operating a bot, posting on a bot-related talk page), BAG members will be retired from BAG following a one-week notice.

Technical news

Starting on December 13, the Wikimedia Foundation security team implemented new password policy and requirements. Privileged accounts (administrators, bureaucrats, checkusers, oversighters, interface administrators, bots, edit filter managers/helpers, template editors, et al.) must have a password at least 10 characters in length. All accounts must have a password:

At least 8 characters in length
Not in the 100,000 most popular passwords (defined by the Password Blacklist library)
Different from their username

User accounts not meeting these requirements will be prompted to update their password accordingly. More information is available on MediaWiki.org.

Blocked administrators may now block the administrator that blocked them. This was done to mitigate the possibility that a compromised administrator account would block all other active administrators, complementing the removal of the ability to unblock oneself outside of self-imposed blocks. A request for comment is currently in progress to determine whether the blocking policy should be updated regarding this change.

Accounts continue to be compromised on a regular basis. Evidence shows this is entirely due to the accounts having the same password that was used on another website that suffered a data breach. If you have ever used your current password on any other website, you should change it immediately.
Around 22% of admins have enabled two-factor authentication, up from 20% in June 2018. If you haven't already enabled it, please consider doing so. Regardless of whether you use 2FA, please practice appropriate account security by ensuring your password is secure and unique to Wikimedia.

F.P. von Knorring (ship)

Hello Miniapolis,

thank you very much for your many corrections to the article F.P. von Knorring (ship). I have a personal Åland-project on the Dutch Wikipedia, and so I wrote many Åland-related articles. Last year, when I visited the restaurant ship F.P. von Knorring, I had the opportunity to speak with the owners and they kindly gave me permission to make photographs of parts that were not normally accessible to visitors. Of course I announced to write a Wikipedia article about this ship, especially because of its long and interesting Dutch history. I wrote the article in the Dutch Wikipedia (my native language), but the owners of the restaurant cannot read Dutch; only Finnish, Swedish and English. So that's why I translated it into English. I can conversate well in English, but writing an article in English is much less easy to me. So I thank you very much for your edits.

My question to you is if (and how) it might be possible to get the template message removed. Meanwhile there are many references (most of them to a very extensive source: the web site of mrs. Roelie Spanjaard Visser, her husband and mr. Hendrik Bootsma about the history of Friesland, and De Lemmer in particular), and if necessary I can help to provide more data by translating parts of this source into English. The owners of the restaurant/ship themselves are not a very good source of information, as they even did not know about the 1945 collision.

Hello, Erik, and thank you for the kind words. I removed the template; any editor can do that in good faith, and in my opinion the article is adequately sourced. More references are always good, of course. Sources don't have to be in English, so you don't have to translate them unless you want to. Hello Miniapolis, thanks for removing the template.

My wife and I are vegetarians, too. I am vegetarian in the 6th generation (that is, on my mother's side). Since a couple of years, we are slowly tending towards veganism. In this restaurant they had two different vegetarian meals, although there was only one on the list. My wife and I took different ones, and both were delicious.

We use to go Åland with our sea kayak, and we're always only for short whiles in the inhabited world. As long as we can, we paddle into the wilderness and sleep in our tent on some of the thousands of uninhabited skerries and islands that are waiting to be explored, enjoying the magnificent nature. Only once in 1-2 weeks we have to go to 'civilisation' in order to buy some fresh foods and get water. Mostly we can get lots of blueberries in nature, but last summer was so hot that they all had dried out. I completely fell in love with this beautiful island nation, and that's why I decided to write many articles about it. (See also here.) Erik Wannee (talk) 15:19, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reply, Erik. My husband and I became vegetarians 43 years ago, when we got married. He wants to become a vegan, but I haven't found a vegan cheese or an egg substitute yet that I like (we drink soy milk). Our daughter was vegan for about six months, and it was difficult to cook for her when she came home to visit. The camping sounds great; we have two horses, though, so we have to stay close to home (they eat three times a day, like we do :-)). All the best, Miniapolis 15:38, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You may know, the Netherlands is a cheese country. So we were raised with eating it. Most vegetarians use to eat more cheese than carnivores, because of the protein. Well, that argument is not so strong, because the risk of getting too much protein is bigger than the risk of getting too little. But since recently we found a very good substitute for cheese in a local vegan meeting: Wilmersburger. Developments in vegetarian and vegan food go very fast now, and probably there are already more good substitutes available. I would say: keep an eye on the developments. By purchasing those new products, you give a financial stimulus for new innovations.

Then about the horses: we have friends who had a donkey for many years (unfortunately he died last year, very old) and they took him with them for long holiday trips. The donkey carried all their camping gear (little tent, clothes, sleeping bag, some food for them all) and they walked along the donkey. When they stopped, the donkey could always find some grass to eat along the road. That way they could travel some 20 km or so in a day. That way they could travel quite far in a couple of weeks. They had much fun, and so had the 'public'. They were welcome in all campings and they were often invited to stay a night at private farm grounds, too.
