Page size tool

Greetings. I prefer using the Cologne Blue skin, but cannot get the page size tool does not appear in my toolbox. Are the two incompatible? Buster40004 Talk 14:42, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

Not to my knowledge; I went to User talk:Dr pda/prosesize.js and while there may be browser issues (I use Firefox, with no problems), the javascript should work on any skin. Did you install the script according to the directions here? Good luck and all the best, Miniapolis 18:59, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
Yes, I installed it as directed and read the user page to see what issues were there. When I install it on the common.js page, it works on several other skins with no problems. For the GCOE drive I switched skins to Vector and it worked well. Thanks for pointing me to the user talk page. I don't mean to trouble you with this, so I am going to explore the clues that I found on Dr pds's user page. I am going to try Explorer and Chrome to see if it is a Firefox issue, also I am going to the developer's page and ask about the skin issue. again, thanks for the help. Buster40004 Talk 20:16, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
Just tried it on Explorer and it works fine, so the problem must be Firefox. Buster40004 Talk 20:23, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
Glad it works on IE, while I like Firefox, it can be quirky :-). All the best, Miniapolis 20:29, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

Hi Miniapolis, it looks like you finished copy editing of Music of Botswana, which was still marked as {{working}} when the drive closed. I'm giving you credit for it. Just let me know if you don't think that should be the case. Thanks, BDD (talk) 00:33, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

Thanks, but I cannot tell a lie; I'm still working on it :-). All the best, Miniapolis 02:48, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

What do you think....

...about turning this link to blue? :) — ΛΧΣ21 19:27, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

Wow...I really appreciate the vote of confidence (and would put my best effort into wielding the mop if it came to that), but am unsure if I'd pass an RFA. I'm in no rush, and am here for the long haul regardless, but would you be willing to nominate me in the event? I've read a lot of the admin advice in the past, and will take a refresher course if needed. It's an honor to even be considered; thanks for making my day. All the best, Miniapolis 21:07, 26 January 2013 (UTC)
Yes. I will be willing to nominate you whenever you feel ready. I have seen your contributions since I started editing and I believe there is no fault that could damage your chances to become an administrator, and a good one. Of course, we can work together to polish the areas you feel you need to work into before jumping at RFA. What do you think? — ΛΧΣ21 22:18, 26 January 2013 (UTC)
Thanks again; before you commit yourself, you may want to see what needs polishing:
Miniapolis (talk · message · contribs · page moves · edit summaries · count · api · logs · block log · email)
Please don't hesitate to let me know what you think needs work (or if you think I should hold off, although I feel brave—or foolhardy—at the moment :-)). I have a thick skin, and am not going anywhere. All the best, Miniapolis 00:12, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
Yay. I will thoroughly review your contribs this week. Although something comes ofo my mind now. Do you have any GA, FL or FA? or which is your best content contribution (apart from copyediting)? — ΛΧΣ21 03:25, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
FWIW, content creation is not my strongest suit; I've created two start-class articles on obscure horse breeds (Baise horse and Spanish-Norman horse}, but feel more comfortable improving articles than creating them. The Baise horse article has a {{refimprove}} tag, which I'll address tomorrow; there's not much info out there, but I found two Chinese sources I can use to beef up the refs. An article I copyedited in September, Kareena Kapoor, is now a FAC. For me, "copyediting" is much more than moving commas around; I just did a minor overhaul on European Southern Observatory, a puff piece which I did my best to haul in the general direction of NPOV. I've also worked at AfC, NPP, contribute to RfCs and a number of WikiProjects, and have just begun a term as a GOCE coordinator (I want to hold off on any RFA till we wrap up the January backlog-reduction drive later this week). Hope this helps, and if you want to hold off I fully understand. Judging by the opposes I've seen in recent RFAs, I may not be just what they're looking for :-). All the best, Miniapolis 03:49, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
Oh well, there is no need to create the article to make it look good. I really appreciate and give high value to your work as copyeditor. For example, I didn't create Ricardo Arjona, but I managed to take it to GA thanks to a copyeditor. Same with Independiente (Ricardo Arjona album), which you copyedited twice. I believe that copyediting means that you know a lot about content creation, otherwise, you wouldn't be able to make a fine copyedit to an article which later achieves featured status, and that's a big point. About the opposes at RfAs, don't worry about them. Most RfAs have users opposing them. I think that they just give a balance to the equation :) — ΛΧΣ21 04:39, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

Thanks again for your advice. Unless you change your mind, I'll let you know when I'm ready for the plunge (as I mentioned, after we tie the ribbons on the January backlog-reduction drive; since it's my first drive as coordinator I want to give it sufficient attention, and will take a wikibreak during the RFA—if it comes to that—to answer questions). See you later and all the best, Anne (Miniapolis 15:47, 27 January 2013 (UTC))

Okay :) I wish you joy and fun on your drive. I have coordinated two at GAN and it's a bit tiring but rewarding. I will be patiently awaiting until you feel ready. Oh and I may participate on the drive; let me know when it starts ;) — ΛΧΣ21 16:31, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
The January drive has a few days left (it ends Friday at 0000 UTC), so you have time for a few articles if you'd like; the next drive is in March. Have fun and all the best, Miniapolis 16:46, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
Oh well, maybe two or three articles will do :) — ΛΧΣ21 17:00, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
Just letting you know that this seems to be a good moment at RFA :) All candidates have passed and the environment seens to be less toxic than past year. — ΛΧΣ21 03:22, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
Thanks very much; I was going to get back to you in a couple of days :-). All the best, Miniapolis 02:28, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
Haha :) No hurries though. Take all the time you need to answer the three main questions :) Regards. — ΛΧΣ21 02:38, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
Oh, and I have sent you an email that you may like to read :) Regards. — ΛΧΣ21 02:47, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
I've answered the three questions; let me know if you think it's ready to go live. All the best, Miniapolis 03:47, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
Okay. I have sent you another email :) We're almost good to go :) — ΛΧΣ21 04:15, 5 February 2013 (UTC)

Copy edits

Hey there. I'm trying to check a few copy edits from everyone in the backlog drive today. I looked at a couple of yours, and they're fine, except for one minor point. At Patriarch of Alexandria, I removed the word "however", which you'd added. From my recent experience at WP:FAC, I've discovered that word is strongly frowned upon, and we should avoid using it at all costs. Anyway, everything else looks fine, and if we didn't nitpick, we wouldn't be copy editing in the first place. :) Cheers. —Torchiest talkedits 19:46, 30 January 2013 (UTC)

No problem; I'm not married to anything I do on WP. As you know, sometimes we're faced with long sentences and I break 'em up as best I can; I'm surprised that would be an issue at FAC, but individual editors have their own hobbyhorses. Miniapolis 23:26, 30 January 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, for some reason a lot of FAC reviewers have been getting after that usage. And like I said, I had to find something to complain about. I was really stretching, and it's hardly a crucial point. —Torchiest talkedits 19:34, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
A pet peeve of mine on WP is how a few reviewers (or editors) can skew an issue unnecessarily; FWIW, the MOS does not deprecate the use of "however". All the best, Miniapolis 20:02, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
Wow, thanks for that link. I see that my paranoia is leading me into over-correction, and your usage was in fact completely correct. My apologies! I'll undo myself there. —Torchiest talkedits 20:09, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
No—don't bother; it's no big deal, but your FAC experience is indicative of some wackiness there. I think articles are promoted too easily at GA, and raked over the coals too much at FA :-). All the best, Miniapolis 20:22, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
Hehe, I think you're right on the latter part, and GA reviews are all over the place in terms of quality and difficulty, depending on the reviewer. Cheers. —Torchiest talkedits 20:31, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

() (talk page visitor) Can't resist butting in here, if only to agree with what you're both saying about FAC. By the way, MOS:HOWEVERPUNC may be too prescriptive in insisting on a semicolon. Here is Theodore M. Bernstein in The Careful Writer: "Incidentally, if your elementary-school teacher told you never to begin a sentence with however, forget it. The governing consideration should always be simply this: Which ideas are to be contrasted? May Mrs. Phillips of P.S. 10 rest in peace." All his examples are preceded by periods. (I'll spare you my rant about Wikipedia dialects. ) --Stfg (talk) 10:46, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

I noticed this discussion on the talk page of one of our former coordinators and thought you two might be interested. —Torchiest talkedits 00:22, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
Goodness golly, I don't know the difference between any of those! I sometimes wonder if English is imagined by some to be a programming language. --Stfg (talk) 10:25, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
Precision and consistency are great, but it's amazing how quickly "I think it should be this way" can turn into "It has to be this way (and here's a wall of text why)". In my limited experience, I think most manuals of style are relatively short :-). All the best, Miniapolis 15:06, 5 February 2013 (UTC)

On WP:NPOVN comment

Hi, could I ask you a question regarding this comment you made over at that discussion? I understand it as a confirmation that WP:WEIGHT and WP:DUE in a WP article can be established by the use of reliable secondary sources (such as established newspapers). Am I way off base here or is that an accurate interpretation of your comment? Regards (and thanks for taking the time to read through all of that thing and comment on it) Gaba p (talk) 14:40, 8 February 2013 (UTC)

No, you're right; I was obviously just passing through :-). While I find myself generally agreeing with Wee Curry Monster (disagreeing with the need—not the desirability—for at least two sources), in re-reading the section I think the three of you (including Scjessey) may be more in accord than you realize. All the best, Miniapolis 15:07, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for your answer. Let me ask you a straight question to try and clear the matter: do you think WP:WEIGHT and WP:DUE in a WP article can be established by the use of reliable secondary sources such as established newspapers? I think this is the core of the discussion. Regards. Gaba p (talk) 15:18, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
Yes, RS in WP:DUE includes mainstream newspapers with editorial oversight reporting a story (as opposed to commentary). However, newspaper accounts by definition are those of an unfolding story, and care must be taken when citing them not to skew the NPOV. Sorry for not getting back to you sooner; I've been busy. Miniapolis 16:54, 9 February 2013 (UTC)

Keepscases at your RfA

No reason why you should have known this, but keepscases routinely opposes candidates who have userboxes indicating a dislike for organized religion. Just a suggestion but you might want to ignore any further discussion on that particular oppose, it's likely to dissolve into a mess (best avoidable in an RfA). I, and I'm sure most editors, understand why you might want to remove a userbox that you think gave offense to someone (a laudable thing) even though (because of keepscases history) it was not necessary in this case. Nathan Johnson doesn't. Just let it go!--regentspark (comment) 19:08, 8 February 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for the sound advice; I just saw it after posting my last comment (which is obviously going to be my last comment :-)) and must've missed the ping in all the excitement. Yes, I certainly don't want to stoop to arguing with opposers but this RFA is very close and I was trying to keep a (relatively) minor issue from escalating. Thanks again and all the best, Miniapolis 16:42, 9 February 2013 (UTC)

Early Congrats

According to my watch, your RFA is due to close soon. First off, congratulations. I'm happy whenever anyone successfully completes an RFA. I opposed your RFA only because you seemed eager to engage in areas of high controversy. I hope that you'll take it easy for awhile and ease into those areas.--v/r - TP 20:23, 12 February 2013 (UTC)

Congratulations. Here are what pass for words of wisdom from the puppy:

  1. Remember you will always protect the wrong version.
  2. Remember you must always follow the rules, except for when you ignore them. You will always pick the wrong one to do. (See #5)
  3. Remember to assume good faith and not bite. Remember that when you are applying these principles most diligently, you are probably dealing with a troll.
  4. Use the block ability sparingly. Enjoy the insults you receive when you do block.
  5. Remember when you make these errors, someone will be more than happy to point them out to you in dazzling clarity and descriptive terminology.
  6. and finally, Remember to contact me if you ever need assistance, and I will do what I am able.

RFA

Your New Admin Tshirt Kit - Tshirt and magic marker not included.

Hey, just wanted to say congratulations, I've closed your RFA as successful and have changed your rights to include the admin flag. You had a certain number of opposers, mainly around the idea of inexperience at AFD, so I'd humbly suggest you do your best to address those in due course. At any rate, feel free to contact me or any of the other admins around here if you need any advice as you find your way with the new buttons. My very best, The Rambling Man (talk) 21:33, 12 February 2013 (UTC)

Thanks very much; I was on pins and needles :-). In retrospect it was very foolhardy to say I'd cut my teeth closing AFDs and working at ANI but I won't break the 'pedia, I promise (and I appreciate your kind offer of help). All the best, Miniapolis 21:53, 12 February 2013 (UTC)
It was a tough RfA since it was on the border for most of the week, but at the end of the day, I think the community made the right choice. Even opposing votes had good points but you have shown a willingness to treat carefully in high drama areas while you learn, so I think most are comfortable that you won't go delete the front page. Of course, I'm confident you will do a good job and pace yourself while you learn. If there is something I can do to help the transition, just ping me on my talk page. Congrats to you. Why did you put full protection on this article?  little green rosetta(talk)
central scrutinizer

19:51, 15 February 2013 (UTC)

Because semi-protection only restricts editing by IPs, and the problems cited by the requester (and reflected by the article's history) now involve confirmed accounts almost exclusively. Please see WP:Protection policy#Full protection for instructions on requesting edits (reflecting consensus) until the week is up. All the best, Miniapolis 20:49, 15 February 2013 (UTC)
Personally I'm not seeing any confirmed accounts that appear to be SPA other than one account. Did I miss something?  little green rosetta(talk)
central scrutinizer

22:06, 15 February 2013 (UTC)
Semi-protection only restricts anonymous editors; logged-in editors (SPA or otherwise) may continue to edit. Since the dispute now concerns logged-in editors, full protection seems appropriate. You may want to ask Hell in a Bucket why they requested page protection. Miniapolis 22:21, 15 February 2013 (UTC)
Well, as the protecting admin you really should investigate that there is a problem with logged in editors before protection. As I said before, I don't see it. Maybe HIB can explain. No big deal in any case. Thanks.  little green rosetta(talk)
central scrutinizer

22:34, 15 February 2013 (UTC)
I did. Miniapolis 22:41, 15 February 2013 (UTC)

Paul Johnson (American football coach)

When you declined to protect that page, you said, "May be a misunderstanding about what constitutes a football season; please discuss on article talk page." That makes no sense. The IP user is assigning a win-loss record for games that have not taken place yet. To say this is a misunderstanding, really stretches credulity. I understand not everyone follows American football, or even sports in general, but suffice it to say, someone is repeatedly assigning a strict numerical value to a future event. This is like editing, United States presidential election, 2016 to list Marco Rubio as the winner of 8 primaries.

Any discussion on the talk page would be a simple request not to vandalize the page. —Ute in DC (talk) 21:29, 15 February 2013 (UTC)

I took a second look and semi-protected the page for a month; if the vandalism resumes then, it can be indeffed. When I declined, I was thinking of the NFL (where the fall season extends into the next calendar year, and an editor in good faith might be confused about what year to call the season) and forgot that in college football the bowl games are over by New Year's Day so there's less ambiguity. Miniapolis 21:54, 15 February 2013 (UTC)
Thank you! —Ute in DC (talk) 21:59, 15 February 2013 (UTC)

Hi

I can still edit the Murder of Travis Alexander article. I guess something went wrong with the full protection?.--BabbaQ (talk) 21:23, 15 February 2013 (UTC)

It's move-protected for two weeks, by which time consensus will hopefully be reached on the article's title. Temporary full protection will probably be the next step if it's not, but I don't feel it's warranted yet. All the best, Miniapolis 21:33, 15 February 2013 (UTC)
Oh, my mistake. OK that sounds great!. Thanks.--BabbaQ (talk) 09:44, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
Im sorry to have to bother you with this, but I think semi-protection of the article is needed, an IP is again going against community consensus and changing name info inside the article. I am also suspicious as I had a dispute with these IPs yesterday and now it seems that these IPs are used by one person to give the impression that it is a majority for Death of.. renaming of the article at the talk page of the article. IP 87.232.1.48 and 134.226.254.178 are definitly used by the same person it smells sockpuppetry or other misuse of IP. Thanks.--BabbaQ (talk) 18:26, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
No problem; I've semi-protected the article for two weeks (by which time the trial will hopefully be over) per WP:CRYSTAL, in addition to the move protection. The verdict, of course, will determine the article's ultimate title. All the best, Miniapolis 19:15, 16 February 2013 (UTC)

Protection of Murder of Travis Alexander?

Hi,

Just to let you know, there is not an ongoing vandalism risk from IP's on the page "Murder of Travis Alexander". The protection request was put in by user BabbaQ and was aimed at just affecting me. I feel this is unfair, and I am being treated differently for just being an IP. If you please read the discussion on my talk page and on the talk page of Murder of Travis Alexander, you will see that it is a consensus in favour of "death of" and just because BabbaQ has a username you are favouring him. He is not even contributing to the discussion anymore. Please read the discussion on the talk page and see for yourself.

Thanks in advance, 87.232.1.48 (talk) 19:26, 16 February 2013 (UTC)

I saw an edit war in the making, and semi-protected the article because the dispute concerned future events. Pending-changes protection seems inappropriate, since the article has been heavily edited. On the talk page, I see a consensus for "Murder of...". Do you, by any chance, have a connection with the defendant? Miniapolis 20:00, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
Where do you "see a consensus for "Murder of..."" on the talk page? It is just two users who support this position, BabbaQ just constantly repeats this over and over. Can you explain how it is NPOV to say "murder" in the article as a fact, when there is an ongoing trail to determine the circumstances surrounding the death?? The defendant (with whom I have no connection) maintains it was self defence. It should surely read "death of" until the trial outcome? Just because BabbaQ has a user account this is allowed to stand and the page is protected? Doesn't make sense. Many users on the talkpage have agreed with me, there has be no consensus that BabbaQ is stating. What do you think? 87.232.1.48 (talk) 20:56, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
87.232.1.48 you are now POV-pushing. And this has nothing to do with me having a user account this has to do with the consensus concerning the name of the article. And for now the consensus is Murder of. I have a hard time understanding why you feel this compassionate about the name of this article. Anyway I hope you can let this one go for now.--BabbaQ (talk) 21:17, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
Now a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents has been opened. A discussion I am not even getting involved in as this is POV pushing to an excessive level.--BabbaQ (talk) 21:24, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
The article was moved to Killing of.. which was an OK compromize in my opinion. --BabbaQ (talk) 21:31, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
Works for me :-). The move protection was removed by a bot for some reason. Miniapolis 21:37, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
Yes :) I am very pleased. It is a still a name change with foul play written all over it which is closer to murder of.. then Death of.. And as you said we will know in two weeks time. --BabbaQ (talk) 21:59, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
Brilliant article name, describes the situation as presently known perfectly as there is no question she killed him. I agree with BabbaQ murder will very likely be the outcome of the case, but we shouldn't write the article presuming a particular outcome and stating it as current fact. Thus, "killing of..." is most suitable for now. 87.232.1.48 (talk) 22:05, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
Great. We can finally agree on something. Hallelujah!--BabbaQ (talk) 22:06, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
So often, all it takes is a third set of eyes :-). All the best, Miniapolis 22:13, 16 February 2013 (UTC)

RM backlog

As a new admin, I hope that I can encourage you to take a stab at closing a dozen of the RM backlog requests. The way WP:RM is set up, requests can be closed at any time, but are not intended to remain open for longer than seven days, meaning that all should be closed before they reach the WP:RM#Backlog. In other words, after the backlog is cleared out, standard procedure should be to close all of the requests just before they reach the backlog. In some cases, though, this means relisting, which also should be done before reaching the backlog. Closing instructions are at WP:RMCI. If each new admin closes a few requests the backlog can be cleared. Apteva (talk) 04:44, 20 February 2013 (UTC)

I'll be glad to help as time permits. All the best, Miniapolis 23:45, 20 February 2013 (UTC)

Feb. blitz question

I've signed up, and want to start editing Anna Banana on this page. How do I get into the system to type in "working"? (It won't let me even if I go to the Edit tab of that page.) Am I even editing from the right page for the Blitz? thanks--Aichik (talk) 15:45, 20 February 2013 (UTC)

Welcome, and thanks for your help. Category pages can't be edited; instead, you edit your section on the blitz page with the {{Working}} tag. The instructions are on the page, and you can play monkey-see, monkey-do (like I do :-)) by looking at another editor in edit mode if you're not sure what to do. Hope this helps. All the best, Miniapolis 23:53, 20 February 2013 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) Oops! The current blitz is for requests, not for articles on the category pages. --Stfg (talk) 08:53, 21 February 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for the reminder; I forgot that the requests page doesn't have a category page! If you hold off on Anna Banana till a week from tomorrow, you can count it for the March drive. All the best, Miniapolis 14:20, 21 February 2013 (UTC)

Hey bud! I wanted to ask you this a while back but I had forgotten about it. I noticed that you added the "anchor" template to Imran Khan's article and before that on Kapoor's article. Are those really needed? -- Bollywood Dreamz talk 03:35, 21 February 2013 (UTC)

Yes; when you change a section title, you need the {{anchor}} tag as an HTML anchor (so links to that section from other articles continue to work). All the best, Miniapolis 14:25, 21 February 2013 (UTC)

Question

Please tell me what is your problem? Because you obviously have one. What is the reason you are deleting updated informations about ethnic groups of Vojvodina? What can be the reason you are deleting my contributions,in adding new results of 2011 census in Serbia?I want you think up a good answer. Also why are you acussing innocent user Oldhouse , and calling me his sockpuppet?Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.135.79.175 (talk) 18:05, 17 February 2013 (UTC)

Huh? See this. Miniapolis 18:20, 17 February 2013 (UTC)

Please answer the question.Thank you. You protected the article ethnic groups of Vojvodina. Before that my contributions were undoed, many times without a good reason.I updated the informations adding the results of new census that was held in Serbia 2011.Why is that?

24.135.79.175 (talk) 18:22, 17 February 2013 (UTC)

I semi-protected a number of articles at the request of Peacemaker67, with whom you should be discussing this. Follow the instructions at the protection-policy link I just provided, and you can still edit before the two weeks are up. Miniapolis 18:53, 17 February 2013 (UTC)

I do not have the permission to write on his talk page so I am asking you.You still haven't answered me why were my contributions removed? 24.135.79.175 (talk) 19:01, 17 February 2013 (UTC)

I don't know. Miniapolis 20:46, 18 February 2013 (UTC)

Why did user Peacemaker delete my contributions which were fully in line with Wikipeda's rules?I added the results of a new census held in Serbia 2011,referenced that and that was undoed million times. Why is that? Why did you protect these article, what do you think?

24.135.84.89 (talk) 08:35, 20 February 2013 (UTC)

because you are his sock, you are banned. Peacemaker67 (send... over) 09:32, 20 February 2013 (UTC)

First that is a lie.Second that is not an answer.Third obviously I am not banned because I wrote this.

Why can't some user talk to this person and explain to him that he has no right to delete other people's contributions just because he doesn't like it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.135.84.89 (talk) 08:44, 21 February 2013 (UTC)

24.135.84.89 (talk) 18:09, 20 February 2013 (UTC)

Have you asked them on the talk pages of the articles in question? If that hasn't helped (and they don't want you posting on their talk page), then it's time for outside dispute resolution. Miniapolis 14:14, 21 February 2013 (UTC)

My comments on articles where deleted without a reason, referenced contributions were deleted I tried talking to him million times he deleted the question and didn't want to answer.I was accused of being a sockpuppet of person I don't know million times,so I changed the address. You can block me again but before that I want to see a good reason for that and for deleting what I write.

24.135.84.89 (talk) 10:12, 22 February 2013 (UTC)

24.135.84.89 (talk) 10:12, 22 February 2013 (UTC)

Hi Miniapolis. Of course there is a reason. This IP is the most recent incarnation of User:Oldhouse2012 who is a community banned sockmaster who is now IP-hopping each time he is blocked. All edits by community banned users such as Oldhouse2012 are reverted immediately on sight. If Oldhouse2012 wants to edit WP, he needs to appeal his ban. But he clearly does not wish to edit by the rules the rest of us follow. The IP-hopping block evasion is also clearly not helping his case. The edits he makes may well be properly sourced, but that is completely irrelevant to why they are being reverted on sight. I will continue to revert everything he does as and when I identify it unless he successfully appeals his community ban or it is otherwise overturned. Regards, Peacemaker67 (send... over) 10:53, 22 February 2013 (UTC)

That is a sick lie I have nothing to with that user,I am not blocked I will continue undoing your lies.

i have nothing to do with that user leave me alone please someone s * t * o * p this user he is l * y * i * n * g you have no proof i am his sockpuppet you are l * y *i * n * g you accused innocent people from all over the world i am from serbia,other people who are accused are from brazil china or india his l * i* e * s don't make sense. s * t *o * p him or b *l *o *c *k him now.

If someone doesn't stop him I will try undoing his changes as long as I can. 24.135.84.89 (talk) 11:10, 22 February 2013 (UTC)

@Peacemaker—I've seen you at the noticeboards so I know you, at least, know how WP:DR works. I've had enough of this on my talk page; since you (Peacemaker) don't want them posting on your talk page—and I don't blame you—please take this to the IP's talk page. Copy editor mentoring

Hi there. I want to join the Guild of Copy Editors, and I would like to have your critique and whatnot, if you're available and willing. I have been doing basic copy editing for a year, mainly typos. I finally got up my gumption to be bold and I started two wikipedia articles this month. Mitch Markovich and Frank Arsenault. With those newfound padewan skills, I have started reprocessing my past major contributions, and fleshing them out some more. I know that there is maybe one page that I've contributed to which is not ideal by wikipedia standards. But I was told by fellow copy editors that my articles are good and that I'm on the right track. I really want some more automation tools so I can ramp up production, and I'm seriously thinking about being an Administrator at some point. Anyway, let me know what you think! I'm dtm on #wikipedia-en on IRC. Thanks. Smuckola (talk) 22:41, 25 February 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for your interest in copyediting, although in future please put new posts at the bottom of the page (you can just click on the "new section" tab at the top of the page to do it automatically). The GOCE page has many helpful links about copyediting and the Manual of Style, while mammoth, is an invaluable reference. BTW, our next month-long backlog-reduction drive starts Friday. I looked at your two articles, and they're very good. You were right to declare your conflict of interest, but it's equally important when adding content to any article to avoid peacock words (which flatter the subject in an unencyclopedic way). While some editors swear by automated tools, I prefer manual edits for the most part because I know my limits :-). Quality is more important than quantity. Hope this helps and all the best, Miniapolis 00:47, 26 February 2013 (UTC)
