Pole dance
[edit]Your contribution to pole dance is removed as an attempt of promotion, although a admired the dance posted on YouTube. `'юзырь:mikka 07:35, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
- I think, it ain't a wrong thing to add such images on wikipedia. But you may add\uploaded images to your talk-page. You just upload a image under GDFL, (self created), and place it on your user-page. You just click your discussion page, than click on user-apge, and add your self-taken picture there. Or try add it on wikipedia:facebook (I'm also there!).
B.T.W., thanks for your contributions; you did a great job ;) !

I was a bit in a hurry (late night), so I didn't explain the important rule of wikipedia about adding information, in particula adding information about yourself. The fundamental rule is the notability of the subject, as confirmed by independent sources published by reputable media. One cannot just say "I am the best" on their website. (although I agree you are the best pole dancer I've ever seen (but I didn't see many of them)). Also I was very annoyed that you immediately used the wikipedia article for self-promotion on your website. This is conflict of interest grteatly disliked in wikipedia community.
That said, I will be happy to help you to write an article about you, if you provide published independent evaluations of your talent and innovations (won contests, performances in notable places, newspaper articles, etc.). Publications of promotional character at various promotional websites do not count. Once again: independent (i.e. written not by you, your agent, boss, client, friend, or relative ) descriptions must be provided. `'юзырь:mikka 16:49, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
- I know completely were you're talking about, Mikka, but people can allways add information on their user-pages about themselves. Not on wikipedia (when they aren't notable), but on their user page, they can. I'm am a amuture sailor, and I've even won some prizes. Still, I never added something about myself to wikipedia. Everything what I wanted to tell about myself, is on my userapge. And I suggested her to do the same. That was all. -)-(-H- (|-|) -O-)-(- 17:54, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
- I understand what you are saying, too. But wikipedia is not free webhosting. If Ming is going to be an active editor and write articles, e.g. about pole dancing, in wikipedia, she is very welcome to have a nice user page. Otherwise there are YouTube and various blog hosting services. `'юзырь:mikka 18:04, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
Than you're right. She shouldn't use wikipedia like a hosting service. Not even good contributors may do that, not to mention a newcomer with no usefull edits whatsoever (correct me if I'm wrong). So you are right. -)-(-H- (|-|) -O-)-(- 18:07, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for your replies.
I apologise for having seemed too eager to promote myself. I had no idea one can contibute to wikipedia (altho I'm a reqular user of it), until i read in a 'popular' Singapore blogger's blog that she had an entire page devoted to her deleted in wikipedia that I realised one can make contributions by being a member.
So in my ethusiasm to show how even pole dancing is catching popularity in a small country like Singapore, I registered myself and was merrily learning how to edit, load picture and i learnt also how to link my website following the article just above mine (then). I chose to start with, and talk about myself so that i don't have to get the approval of anyone else. And in future if this works and when i get more familiar with the editing, I will be more than happy to explore with other contributions by adding information about some of the greatest pole dancers in the world like KT, Jamilla, Fawnia etc. all who are HUGE names in pole dancing, and for now these information seem to be non-present here. I apologise if my approach had not gone down well with the wikipedia community. I'm sorry, but I'm just an avid poler and very passionate about the art.
Thank you for the offer to write an article about me, but for now I doubt I can provide appropriate independent articles about me as I only have some testimonials by clients telling me how the show had gone down well with them (with not much eloboration) and an article in a chinese magazine which may not seem very apt as they were more interested in focussing on how i had to fend off indecent proposals with regards to my job..lol!
Once again, thank you for having so patiently replied and dealt with my questions, and oh yes the compliment too. Yes, you may not have watched too many pole dance videos as there are really many many greater dancers in the world, but again, I'm the ONLY one who sings and pole dance...lol...Thank you and cheers. Do that! I think, things'll work out just fine for you, Suzie! Enjoy editing wikipedia! -)-(-H- (|-|) -O-)-(- 07:13, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
