Welcome!

[edit]
Hi, Minervamoon, Welcome to Wikipedia!

Hello, and welcome to the loony yet quite pleasing ranks of Wikipedians! My name is BorgHunter, one of very many zany Wikipedians around here, and let me be the first to welcome you here. Before getting too in-depth, you may want to read about the simplified ruleset. If you need help on how to title new articles check out the naming conventions, and for help on formatting the pages visit the manual of style. If you need help look at Wikipedia:Help and the FAQ , plus if you can't find your answer there, check the Village Pump (for Wikipedia related questions) or the Reference Desk (for general questions)! There's still more help at the Tutorial and Policy Library. Plus, don't forget to visit the Community Portal. And if you have any more questions after that, feel free to post them on my user talk page. And don't worry -- you may well have a bunch of questions after that avalanche of info I just threw at you. Yeah, Wikipedia has a bit of a culture and etiquette of its own, but you get used to it!

Additional tips

[edit]

Here's some extra tips to help you get around in the 'pedia!

  • If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills the Sandbox is for you.
  • You can sign your name using three tildes (~). If you use four, you can add a datestamp too.
  • You may want to add yourself to the new user log.
  • You should also consider (if you have not already) creating a user page for yourself, to tell us a bit about you. Don't worry if it's small at first -- most people tend to grow their user pages over a period of time, much like Wikipedia articles. Don't expect everything to happen all at once!
  • If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.
  • If you're still entirely confused, or would like to get a better grasp of your wikipedia skills, and you have an IRC client (or don't mind getting one), check out the Bootcamp. It's not what it sounds like, but it is fun and can help you with your editing skills.
  • If you're bored and want to find something to do, try the Random page button in the sidebar, or check out the Open Task message in the Community Portal.

Happy Wiki-ing.

Please refrain from removing content from Wikipedia, as you did to Hogwarts. It is considered vandalism. If you want to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. - Dakota ~ 01:46, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is edit I reverted [1]. The link led to this page. If it was not you then someone is editing on your account. I would suggest an immediate change of password to prevent it happening again. The above message is in reponse to a blanking of content off the page Hogwarts. Thanks.--Dakota ~ 02:21, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Don't hit little brother. You could do what I do: Change pc password, log off and when you are away from you pc hit win+L which forces new logon. I he hasn't got the pass he can't get back in. Have to at work and it keeps others out.--Dakota ~ 03:33, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:JamesMayAutocar.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:JamesMayAutocar.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 19:08, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:QIfront.JPG

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:QIfront.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 10:27, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Confusion

[edit]

"...have my language and literature kick and eat it, too. Science, that is. Eat science."
Every time I think I understand you, Sarah, you say something else which really confuses me. JCzech (talk) 01:53, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It amuses me that, aside from you, I'm the user who's made the most edits to your userpage. JCzech (talk) 23:48, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, since you didn't specify it had to be a hand until your message, I'll say left foot, please. Therequiembellishere (talk) 23:04, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, play nice. Therequiembellishere (talk) 05:22, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, come on, he's new! You and I were like that once! Lol. "I don't have a dad. Little bitch has two!" Therequiembellishere (talk) 15:00, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, really! When you started on the internet you must have been! And what the hell else should I say? How the fuck do I know what's going on?!
Oh, and "Silence in the Library" was great! I'm glad to see Alex Kingston doing something again. Therequiembellishere (talk) 17:03, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. "Truly Scrumptious" was adorable. I'd like to see Jessie and Gwion as Nancy and Oliver with Atkinson as Fagin. Therequiembellishere (talk) 17:04, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
She should have. Jodie's too scary to get beaten by a cane! I'm watching the DW episode again. Therequiembellishere (talk) 17:25, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Johnny-QI.png

[edit]
Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Johnny-QI.png. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Gr1st (talk) 22:36, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Johnny-SweetRevenge.png)

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading Image:Johnny-SweetRevenge.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.
