Brecon and Radnorshire (National Assembly for Wales constituency)
Hi Mikebloke. I'm afraid I don't have a source for the info. It was added to the Brecon and Radnorshire (UK Parliament constituency) with no source stated. I just moved it to the correct page. If the BBC site gives a name then as a rule I'd go with them unless I had a printed source that was more reliable. Cheers Galloglass 01:13, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

- Sorry I never got round to this because I wasn't online much during this time, and it seems to be resolved now (I think). Mikebloke 22:22, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
Liberal Unionist
[edit]My source was A New England? Peace and War 1886-1918 by G. R. Searle, from the New Oxford History of England. It's quite possible that I made a mistake in calibrating the numbers, but, more broadly, there's often disagreement in sources about the political affiliation of a couple of members, enough to make the numbers slightly inprecise. At any rate, here's what it gives for each of the elections with Liberal Unionists -
- 1886 - 316 Conservatives, 78 Liberal Unionists, 191 Liberals, 85 Irish Nationalists; total 670
- 1892 - 268 Conservatives, 47 Liberal Unionists, 274 Liberals, 81 Irish Nationalists (72 Anti-Parnellites, 9 Parnellites); total 670
- 1895 - 341 Conservatives, 70 Liberal Unionists, 177 Liberals, 82 Irish Nationalists (70 Anti-Parnellites, 12 Parnellites); total 670
So, in 1886, apparently there should be one less Liberal. I'm not sure what the deal is with 1892. The Independent Liberal (Sir Edward Watkin) was according to the ODNB a fairly independent Liberal Unionist. So that's one of our missing guys. The other would appear to be, again, one of the Liberals. Presumably there's some guy who was elected in 1886 and 1892 whose affiliation as a Liberal or as a Liberal Unionist is somewhat unclear. As it stands, I'll just bring down the Liberal Unionist total to 45 for 1892. john k 15:43, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
- Alright thanks, yeah there will probably be always disagreement on Liberal - Liberal Unionist figures on which side members were (especially seeing as some supposedly supported both sides-which is no doubt where members may get doubled up) but if the Conservative and Liberal Unionist both add up to the figure presented for the coalition, then that is as good as it can be.
