At WikiProject Amphibians and Reptiles, in which you are listed as a member, we're working on a pretty massive backlog (1000+ articles!) of unassessed articles. We would appreciate it greatly if you would help assess the articles in the link. It's simple to do!

  1. Read over the article.
  2. On the discussion page, look for the {{AARTalk}} template. Add in a "class" and "importance" parameter if the template does not have them already. Example: {{AARTalk|class= |importance= }}
  3. For the class, fill in the article's quality using the WikiProject's quality scale: stub, start, C, B, GA, A, or FA. Most unassessed articles will probably be stubs or start class articles, and definitely B or lower.
  4. For the importance, fill in the article's importance to the WikiProject using the importance scale: low, mid, high, or top. Most unassessed articles will probably be low or mid importance.
  5. Then you're done!

It's not a difficult task, but there's a lot to get done. Our hope is that we can chip through the backlog and assess every article within the auspices of the project. Thanks, bibliomaniac15 00:31, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Ambassador Program is looking for new Online Ambassadors

[edit]

Hi! Since you've been identified as an Awesome Wikipedian, I wanted to let you know about the Wikipedia Ambassador Program, and specifically the role of Online Ambassador. We're looking for friendly Wikipedians who are good at reviewing articles and giving feedback to serve as mentors for students who are assigned to write for Wikipedia in their classes.

If that sounds like you and you're interested, I encourage you to take a look at the Online Ambassador guidelines; the "mentorship process" describes roughly what will be expected of mentors during the current term, which started in January and goes through early May. If that's something you want to do, please apply!

You can find instructions for applying at WP:ONLINE. The main things we're looking for in Online Ambassadors are friendliness, regular activity (since mentorship is a commitment that spans several months), and the ability to give detailed, substantive feedback on articles (both short new articles, and longer, more mature ones).

I hope to hear from you soon.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 20:49, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Strider Knives

[edit]

If I were to make Wikipedia pages for Mick Strider and Duane Dwyer, listing the factual data about their false military claims...and then linked these pages to the Strider Knives page - would that be acceptable?

The disambiguation page, Lionfish, has a large number of incoming disambig links. Since you have worked on this page, can you help fix those links? Cheers! bd2412 T 21:52, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In addressing concerns toward the article's early shotcomings, I have found numerous independent secondary sources and am curently improving the article. I would ask that you check the article in few hours to see if I left better than I found it. Best, Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 03:33, 7 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Mike Searson. You have new messages at MichaelQSchmidt's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

You were able to provide sources on several of the eskrima articles. Is there any chance you've got sources for this article? Papaursa (talk) 22:03, 9 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

marking mentees' userpages

[edit]

Hey Mike! This is just a quick reminder: please be sure to add {{WAP student}} (for an example, see User:Sfofana) the user pages of your mentees. And once they are working on articles, be sure to tag the talk pages with {{WAP assignment}}. Cheers--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 18:23, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Mentoring students: be sure to check in on them

[edit]

This message is going out to all of the Online Ambassadors who are, or will be, serving as mentors this term.

Hi there! This is just a friendly reminder to check in on what your mentees are doing. If they've started making edits, take a look and help them out or do some example fixes for them, if they need it. And if they are doing good, let them know it!

If you aren't mentoring anyone yet, it looks like you will be soon; at least one large class is asking us to assign mentors for them, and students in a number of others haven't yet gotten to asking ambassadors to be their mentors, but may soon. --Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 20:07, 21 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please be the mentor for the students working on Children's Television Act and ATT v. FCC

[edit]

Hi Mike! I'm currently trying to assign mentors to all the remaining groups in Professor Obar's class. Would you be the mentor for the group of students working on Children's Television Act and the group working on ATT v. FCC (not created yet)? If you can do it, thanks! If not, please let me know.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 02:10, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Great, thanks! For now, just sign up on the course page for both of those groups, introduce yourself to any of the students who have usernames listed. They should be coming to you for advice and feedback, probably within the next week or two.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 02:16, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

As the Coordinating Online Ambassador for this project, please let me know if I can be of assistance. Take Care...NeutralhomerTalk04:31, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Knife collecting

[edit]

Thanks for starting it! Good start! Its very common for articles to be at AFD when they might better presented in a different format and context. Mention of the forums should be in prose and casually addressed as part of an encyclopedic article on knife collecting. An article listing forums on it I don't think it the appropriate context... Hopefully the decision will be to merge into your article..♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:18, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yeha sometimes such lists just seem too extreme to exist seperately. Sort of like List of diapers made by Pampers, well a bit exaggerated but you know what I mean. Hey Komodo dragon is a great article. I've long been fascinated in the Komodo since I first read about it in a Willard Price book as a kid. Incidentally I was once in a band called "The Chameleons"! Fascinating creatures indeed. Thanks for all of your hard work on them. I also see you are into Aikido. Now tell me, is Steven Seagal truly the master of all masters with a 7th dan? ♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:37, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah he's a very complex guy I think. I read stuff about him breaking people's wrists and legs and that on purpose yet he is a Buddhist and claims to be clairvoyant and a "born healer". At times he can have a really good sense of humor and seems very peaceful, at others times he comes across as an arrogant a-hole and seems to alienate himself from people or his fans in exactly the same sort of way as you said. There is definitely a sleazy side to him too which seems to emerge from time to time... Somebody who used to work for Seagal claimed that pretty much all that is reported about him is true... ♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:06, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Awesome job! Now that is how it should be done!!♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:56, 5 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
