Missing cite in Corstorphine Hill
[edit]The article cites "Management Plan" but no such source is listed in bibliography. Can you please add? Please see {{sfn}} documentation on how to properly format short footnotes when no author is specified. I assume that this footnote is supposed to reference current ref #3 "Corstorphine Hill Local Nature Reserve Management Plan 2017 ‐ 202" -- note that url is pointing to a wrong site and that year is cut off. Also, suggest installing a script to highlight such errors in the future. All you need to do is copy and paste importScript('User:Svick/HarvErrors.js'); // Backlink: [[User:Svick/HarvErrors.js]]
to your common.js page. Thanks, Renata (talk) 00:40, 10 November 2020 (UTC)

Hugh Miller, suicide
[edit]Hi, "committed suicide" isn't really appropriate these days. There are many many resources online that can help understand why, for example: https://everymind.org.au/suicide-prevention/understanding-suicide/role-of-language-and-stigma, https://www.camh.ca/-/media/files/words-matter-suicide-language-guide.pdf, https://www.nationalelfservice.net/mental-health/suicide/language-matters-how-should-we-talk-about-suicide/ thanks/wangi (talk) 13:49, 2 December 2021 (UTC)
A cup of tea for you!

Cannonball House
[edit]Well done on the Cannonball House article. An interesting insight into a category A building of historic significance. I had no idea about the cannonball. Must have walked past dozens of time but not looked up. Next time I pass though will certainly do so! Coldupnorth (talk) 17:45, 2 September 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you, @Coldupnorth: for your kind word, and also the Barnstar. I'm delighted that you found the article interesting. Do look for the cannonball next time you are passing. You can see it from the steps of the wynd; it's just above and slightly to the right of one of the larger windows. By the way, I've noticed your many useful edits to Charles Edward Stuart - not to mention those to Linlithgow at the time of the Black Bitch kerfufle. Pending changes
[edit]Hi Mike, thanks for improving those articles on Edinburgh. I don't know if any of the pages you currently watch are under pending changes protection, but I have set your account as a WP:Pending Changes Reviewer as I think you have shown yourself more than capable of telling the difference between a badfaith edit, a bad edit and a good one, ϢereSpielChequers 12:43, 2 October 2023 (UTC)
- @WereSpielChequers:, many thanks for upgrading my account. I'll look forward to helping to keep the pending changes list under control. Thanks also for correcting my embarrassing typing error in the Edinburgh Trams article. Looking through your other "Not curly" edits, it's a relief to see that I'm not the only one who made that particular mistake. Mike Marchmont (talk) 07:40, 3 October 2023 (UTC)
- You are most welcome, and don't be embarrassed about the occasional typo, just goes to show that Wikipedia needs many different people. Writers like you and pedants like me. BTW if you fancy WP:Rollback as well, have a read of the policy and tell me when you would and wouldn't use it. ϢereSpielChequers 08:11, 3 October 2023 (UTC)
- Hello again, @WereSpielChequers:. Yes, I would appreciate having Rollback rights. I've now read WP:Rollback, and can see how it would be useful. I've occasionally had to undo consecutive edits by the same editor. Although it's not that difficult to undo each one individually, it would clearly be more convenient to be able to do it with a single click. I also like the idea of having a link to the reverted editor's contribution history, to make it easy to check for other problem edits by the same person. I'm not sure about the automatic edit summary; I'll see how that works out in practice.Mike Marchmont (talk) 08:49, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
- OK that's done. Just remember, you are free to use this on your own mistakes, but when you rollback anyone else's edits you need to be sure they are vandalism. ϢereSpielChequers 09:05, 4 October 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Hi, hope you're doing well. I was wondering why you reverted my comment at the Teahouse just now, and why you marked the revert as minor. Thanks. Relativity ⚡️ 10:50, 19 June 2024 (UTC)
- I have reverted your edit for now so that the person who I replied to can see my reply. Relativity ⚡️ 11:01, 19 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Relativity:. Sorry. I have no idea how or why this happened. I certainly did not revert your edits. In fact, I wasn't even at my desk at 10:47UTC when the reversion supposedly took place. It's all a bit worrying. Perhaps you could reinstate your Teahouse edit, then keep an eye on it to see if it happens again. Mike Marchmont (talk) 11:09, 19 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Mike Marchmont: Yeah, I saw that that came completely out of the blue. I reinstated the edit. Hopefully your account hasn't been compromised or something. Thanks for all your great contributions! Cheers Relativity ⚡️ 11:12, 19 June 2024 (UTC)
