Speedy deletion of ICurrency Plus

Hello Miguel.mateo, this is a message from an automated bot to inform you that the page you created, ICurrency Plus, has been marked for speedy deletion by User:Whywhenwhohow. This has been done because the page is a blatant advert that would require a substantial rewrite in order to become an encyclopedia article (see CSD). If you think the tag was placed in error, please add "{{hangon}}" to the page text, and edit the talk page to explain why the page should not be deleted. If you have a question about this bot, please ask it at User talk:SDPatrolBot II. If you have a question for the user who tagged the article, see User talk:Whywhenwhohow. Thanks, - SDPatrolBot II (talk) on behalf of Whywhenwhohow (talk · contribs) 09:25, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

I have nominated ICurrency Plus, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/ICurrency Plus. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. JodyB talk 11:18, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, I was just following instructions of the previous bot, until I just saw the AfD. I have already put my comments on it. I just hope it makes it. Miguel.mateo (talk) 13:47, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
  • You're welcome! I'm not going to comment on the AfD itself at the moment, but I would point out that I couldn't find significant coverage of ICurrency Plus. The prMac ‎Feb 26, 2010‎ reference is a press release, so it is not independent. I couldn't find any other results on Google News - and nothing about this software on Google Books or Google Scholar. I couldn't find any reliable references to it, and so personally I don't feel that it is notable enough at the moment to be included on Wikipedia. -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 15:13, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
An application that was launched in middle January 2010, it would be impossible to find anything in Google Scholar and Google Books. In news there are tons of sites, specially in Korean and Japanese, since in those sites is where I got my first reviews given the location where I live and the original target users I had. If we apply the same rationale we need to remove then all iPhone apps in Wikipedia... Miguel.mateo (talk) 21:53, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
Such a recent application would generally not be counted as notable. However, if there has indeed been significant coverage in the Korean and Japanese media, then it might be an idea to add those to the article (nothing too fancy, just <ref>[http://website.com/page.html title-of-page]</ref> will do, others will tidy it up!) Without some indication of notability, the article is unlikely to be kept at this time. As for the other iPhone apps, it may well be that some of them should not be on Wikipedia for the same reason, or it miught be that they have the references in the media which justify their inclusion.
Incidently, the coverage needs to be 'significant' - a mention in a list of other apps isn't enough, there needs to be a good paragraph or two (or more!) just about this app. I hope it goes well, but if it is deleted, wait until there is more media coverage, and then it could be recreated (and/or you could ask the deleting admin to userfy it - move it to your user space for you to be able to continue working on it. Let me know if you have any other questions. -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 11:05, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
Thank you PS, you have been very helpful, honestly I do not have the strength to fight for it, there are so many articles in Wikipedia, not remarkable at all, and they all get "this article require sources", mine got a "speed deletion" instead, from a user that has very little contribution to Wikipedia, so you guess then how i feel ... if people believe that I am doing this to get free promotion (which I can show that I have not got one single reference from Wikipedia to my site) and they want to remove the article "because this is the right thing to do" then so be it. I have very reliable sources like applerumors.com and appleinsider.com, but they are basically the press release since for an interview or independent review you have to pay money for it. To me does not make sense that I need to pay money just to be included in Wikipedia ... what is it important to me is that this is definitely the first app in the apple store that sends you customized push notifications about currencies of your choice. None of the iPhone OS articles in Wikipedia meets the criteria that people want in the AfD discussion to be included then. But once again, thanks, honestly! Non-notable software

DB-A7 has specific narrow boundaries. It does apply to persons, organizations, and websites. It does not apply to software, books or commercial products in general; ideas, concepts, etc.; or other areas. The only way to change that would be to get a consensus to do so; and I don't see it happening, based on the long history of such proposals. It took long enough to get the narrow A9 (recording by a non-notable group with no article) added! --Orange Mike | Talk 19:03, 22 March 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know, I am no longer using those categories anyway, instead I am going for a more longer AfD process. Best regards, Miguel.mateo (talk) 21:51, 22 March 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Blackra1n

Hello Miguel.mateo, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Blackra1n, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not unambiguously promotional. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Olaf Davis (talk) 11:15, 27 March 2010 (UTC)

Can you please let me know why you believe that the article in question is not a pure ad of what the product is and why is remarkable enough to be included in Wikipedia? Thanks, Miguel.mateo (talk) 14:13, 27 March 2010 (UTC)

speedy vs AfD

There is no point in placing both a speedy tag and a AfD tag on the same article at the same time; it just confuses things . If you think the article meets speedy criteria, place a speedy tag--if it gets declined, and you think the article merits deletion none the less, then use afd. If you first use afd, do not put on a speedy tag unless you find some particular reason that would unquestionably warrant speed--the usual case is discovering that it's a copyvio. When you do that, say so in the AfD discussion. As for air Sharing, it is descriptive, not promotional. Whether or not the product is notable is another matter, and a valid question for AfD. I see some other comments above, and I urge you to re-read WP:CSD and WP:Deletion Policy, so what you do will be more effective. In particular, keep in mind that the speedy criteria are interpreted narrowly. DGG ( talk ) 01:14, 28 March 2010 (UTC)

Thanks DDG, just for your info, the first comment you see I was proposing a category for not notable software, and I was told that would be impossible. The second comment, is when I challenged BlackRa1n, and I have complied with the request; please note that it is extremely vague, what for me could be absolute promotional, for others that may not be the case. The reason why you will see only TWO articles that are having both tags is because the AfD process is supposed to take only one week, but in reality it takes forever. I continue nominating the ones rejected for SD in AfD, best regards, Miguel.mateo (talk) 01:24, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
BTW, those two articles I am referring to, I should have proposed Speedy Deletion first, but it is ok, let's continue the AfD process. Miguel.mateo (talk) 01:34, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
BTW 2, Do you know how to "retract" a nomination? I have searched for it but I find no answers. Thanks, Miguel.mateo (talk) 02:03, 28 March 2010 (UTC)

revert and afd

Please don't revert my edits when I am right and you are obviously WRONG!!!! Second when you nominate an article for deletion it is appropriate to notify the creator. This is unless you want to hide your bitter attempt of deleting articles because your non notable app was deleted. 16x9 (talk) 21:25, 28 March 2010 (UTC)

I am putting request for Speedy deletion, you are the one reverting those changes. You should follow the process. If an admin says there is no reason for Speedy Deletion, then I go to AfD. Your article is notified, your account is notified, so I do not what are you talking about "hiding". Good luck, Miguel.mateo (talk) 07:48, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
Anyone* can remove a speedy tag. most of the articles had already been sent to afd. And a bot eventually notified me because you didnt. 16x9 (talk) 21:18, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
