I am only tangentially committed to Wikipedia - more so to the expansion of the open knowledge movement and to MediaWiki including its extensions such as WikiData, to become a platform for online participatory democracy. I contribute to projects which promote access to Wikipedia and related resources, such as community telecommunications networks, and am a member of the board of Wikimedia-ZA (the Wikimedia Foundation-affiliated chapter serving South Africa and neighbouring countries).Michaelgraaf (talk) 18:29, 23 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

WPs in South African languages

[edit]

@Michaelgraaf: Congratulations on submitting your dissertation! Perhaps you can advise me: I'm interested in getting some background on the ZU and XH Wikipedias - their past and future. Their present state is familiar, as I'm a regular (daily!) contributor, though without knowing the languages. I wikify, resolve red links, categorize, etc. My one query to the Wikimedia ZA talk page on Meta-Wiki went unanswered, and though I'm on their mailing list I'm hesitant to make enquiries - the chapter being so involved with upcoming events. Native-speakers of ZU and XH rarely edit and our limited communications are mainly terminology-related. Have you found academic institutions and libraries willing to collaborate with making content available? Your guidance is appreciated! -- Cheers, Deborahjay (talk) 20:01, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for clarifying, Michael. I'll make further inquiries through the various existing channels and continue making progress. I'll be watching for your activities in the ZA languages, which sound promising. Perhaps our mutually productive paths will cross again before long! -- Deborahjay (talk) 20:29, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Open Culture Foundation requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. ___CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk 16:58, 11 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Yggdrassil (network protocol) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:TOOSOON and lack of reliable sources that support notability.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
