Speedy deletion nomination of John Barros
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on John Barros requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.barrosforboston.com/about_john. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. [edit]Hello, Michael A. Burbank. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article John Barros, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.
All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.
If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:
- Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
- Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
- Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
- Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.
Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Flat Out let's discuss it 23:45, 18 August 2013 (UTC)

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at John Barros. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been reverted or removed. Please do not reinstate spam minks and unreliable sources.
- If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor then please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page. Alternatively you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant notice boards.
- If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.
Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive, until the dispute is resolved through consensus. Continuing to edit disruptively could result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. Flat Out let's discuss it 04:24, 19 August 2013 (UTC)
Constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, but a recent edit of yours to the page John Barros has an edit summary that appears to be inaccurate or inappropriate. Please use edit summaries that accurately tell other editors what you did, and feel free to use the sandbox for any tests you may want to do. Thank you. Friendly advice
[edit]Wikipedia does not exist for the promotion of an election candidate. You appear to have a clear conflict of interest and should read and understand that policy before you continue to edit John Barros. Please describe any edits in the edit summary window before saving, and please do not attempt hide additions by marking edits as minor edits. If you continue to edit in a manner that is not constructive you will likely end up blocked from editing. Flat Out let's discuss it 05:02, 19 August 2013 (UTC)
Response to advice
[edit]Thank you for the advice Flat Out. I am curious to hear how your critique of the [John Barros] page compared to the others listed under [Boston mayoral election, 2013]. Felix G. Arroyo, Daniel F. Conley, John R. Connolly, Robert Consalvo, Charlotte Golar Richie, Michael P. Ross, Bill Walczak, Marty Walsh, David James Wyatt, Charles Yancey. As a new user to Wikipedia your advice is well appreciated. Michael A. Burbank (talk) 05:17, 19 August 2013 (UTC)
- The page you created was flagged on a list I watch for articles created without going through WP:AfC. I will happily review other articles listed above when I get the chance, however with the exception of Charlotte Golar Richie they are all incumbents and therefore meet WP:POLITICIAN, and Charlotte Golar Richie had an existing article written in 2009; her candidacy was added to an article already deemed notable. None of this tchanges the issues with John Barros. Flat Out let's discuss it 05:23, 19 August 2013 (UTC)
