WWWL

[edit]

Appreciate your comments. I just happened across that page coincidentally and noticed that someone had been making disparaging comments about Mr. Fitzmorris for a while. I reverted the page but he/she seems to be at it again. I'll be sure to read the links you sent me. Thanks.

I'm trying not to run afoul of the three edit rule, but I reverted that article and left a comment, I was just curious if you think it was the appropriate comment under the circumstances.

Reeves James

[edit]

your messge

Hi, I just wanted to let someone know that I've cleaned up the article on Reeves James, which was listed for cleanup on February 11th, I believe. I edited it for clarity and wikified it, but I'm unable to do any factchecking. Can anybody else do this? Also, I'm a new user, and I wasn't sure if I should have removed the cleanup tag or not. Mgummess 08:32, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

my reply

I made some further formatting changes and spent a while checking the links. Some of them lead to disambiguation pages so I specified where they should go. Grundig goes to a German manufacturer, I can't find an article on the musical group of that name. I added a category (I'm not sure it's correct but it looks good).
You can remove the cleanup tag if you feel cleanup is completed or leave it if you'd like someone else to take a look at it first. I'd say leave it for a little and see if anyone with knowledge of this branch of music finds it. RJFJR 17:07, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with you about the tag; hopefully somebody more knowledgeable about that branch of music will go over it. Is there any way someone can specifically mark that article for a music-oriented person to look at it? Mgummess 23:18, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Popups

[edit]

Info on installing Popups is here, and it's pretty easy. Once you have it installed, whenever your pointer hovers over a wikilink, a little box with menus and things will pop up. To revert to a particular revision, all you have to do is hover over the version you want (like in the side-by-side change comparison or the history) and select revert. It's a pretty useful little tool, with a lot of cool features. Hope that helps! -- Vary | Talk 05:36, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You shouldn't have a problem. It's something you add to a file in your userspace, and once you do, it works in whatever computer you use as long as you're logged in. You don't have to modify anything on the actual system you're working from. -- Vary | Talk 05:42, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Great! Enjoy it, it's a fun little toy to play with. -- Vary | Talk 05:43, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reeves James, again

[edit]

Hi - I've looked everywhere for information on "Reeves James", but the man doesn't seem to exist. I've looked for info on Puddle of Mudd, Awkward and Sourjane - he currently is not a member of Sourjane so if nothing else this information is incorrect. He is referred to nowhere I've seen as the cousin of Tim McGraw. In the light of there being nothing about him anywhere online (a Google search for "Reeves James", in quotes, produces nothing) I would suggest this entry is removed fro Wikipedia. C i d 09:10, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've added it to the list of proposed deletions so it will be dealt with in the next few days, hopefully. C i d 10:15, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Other than one of the stub tags there really isn't much we can do to find music oriented people. RJFJR 14:38, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Yale Society of Orpheus & Bacchus

[edit]

Thanks for your comment on my talk page. You may have noticed that the admins have concluded the discussion and deleted the page.

I have nothing personal against these groups. I was a member of a university performing group myself. The problem is that these articles—overwhelmingly—tend not to be written from a neutral point of view. There is usually a lack of verifiable, reliable source citations. Quite often, the information presented would only be known to a member or alumnus of the group. Usually, there isn't the slightest attempt at objectivity. I do realize that, in some cases, it might be possible to write an article on these groups that complies with WP:NPOV, WP:VER, and WP:NOR. In practice, it seldom seems to happen.

I also realize that if SOB was deleted, there are other articles of a similar ilk that should also be deleted. I suspect that, in time, they will be. If you want to argue for keeping the article, it usually doesn't help to point out that there are other articles with the same problem. All that does is to raise the likelihood that those other articles will be deleted, too.

In general, the overwhelming sentiment is to delete articles on student and community theatre groups, unless there is clear evidence that they are notable beyond a close-knit family of members, friends, and alumni. This is absolutely not meant to deny the importance of these groups to the people whose lives they have touched. It's just a recognition of the reality that an encyclopedia article complying with WP:NPOV, WP:VER, and WP:NOR is hard to come up with. Marc Shepherd 14:54, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Total re-write of the main Physics page is in progess

[edit]

You might like to join us at Physics/wip where a total re-write of the main Physics page is in progess. At present we're discussing the lead paragraphs for the new version, and how Physics should be defined. I've posted here because you are on the Physics Project participant list. --MichaelMaggs 08:04, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Gratuitous insult

You, sir, are a rat bastard. --RobthTalk 01:06, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

(And by the way, look who's wasted more time on this site in the past couple days--at least I can control my addiction.)

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

[edit]

I've been fixing vandalism, thank you very much. And everybody knows you're not supposed to post pictures of yourself on the internet. We might have to have an intervention if you continue to spend too much time on Wikipedia. I did all of the stuff I did today in the space of about three hours. My addictions tend to flare up violently and then burn out quickly. Excluding a certain game.

Seriously, though. I'm sorry. I even followed your talk page guidelines.

Mgummess 03:46, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi RJFJR,

While patrolling for vandalism I stumbled across this page that appears to be an almost entirely nonsensical promotion. I tagged it for speedy deletion, but the editor deleted my tag. Perhaps the article could be salvaged, but I think it needs serious work (if it even deserves it). I'm leaving a note on your talk page because you helped me out a while ago with a similar issue. Just wanted to let an admin know so I wouldn't have to keep putting the tag up for someone to see it.

Mgummess 00:23, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Someone already deleted it under CSD A7. RJFJR 14:05, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Physics participation

[edit]

You received this message because your were on the old list of WikiProject Physics participants.

On 2008-06-25, the WikiProject Physics participant list was rewritten from scratch as a way to remove all inactive participants, and to facilitate the coordination of WikiProject Physics efforts. The list now contains more information, is easier to browse, is visually more appealing, and will be maintained up to date.

If you still are an active participant of WikiProject Physics, please add yourself to the current list of WikiProject Physics participants. Headbomb {ταλκWP Physics: PotW} 14:57, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
