Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Lorenzo DeStefano
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Draft:Lorenzo DeStefano requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://diaristmovie.com/filmmaker.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. --TheImaCow (talk • contribs) 18:42, 19 July 2020 (UTC)
This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
Re-submitted article with citations and original wording, have not heard back if it is accepted or not Mexicajedi (talk) 23:30, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- Hi @Mexicajedi:, which article did you resubmit? Z1720 (talk) 00:25, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
- Looking at your user contributions, I assume your request is about Draft:Lorenzo DeStefano. Unfortunately, I do not see it as "submitted". If you want to resubmit the draft, please see the instructions at WP:AFC. I will say, though, that I do not think it will be accepted as an article because I am unsure how this person is notable. In other words, why should this person have an article on Wikipedia? Having a body of creative work is not enough to justify an article. Please see WP:GNG and WP:FILMMAKER for our guidelines on when Wikipedia accepts articles on filmmakers.
- I am going to close this request edit, but if you have any questions or comments please comment below and I or another editor will respond. You can also comment on my talkpage. Thanks for joining Wikipedia and I hope you have fun here. Z1720 (talk) 00:38, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
I have submitted the article again with some changes. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Lorenzo_DeStefano He has directed films, one of which "Hearing is Believing Film" is cited in Wikipedia @ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rachel_Flowers as the director of her documentary.
Mexicajedi (talk) 01:07, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Mexicajedi, I checked with another editor and they agree that this draft has not been submitted. I am not sure what went wrong, but you need to press the button labelled "submit for review" or add the following text to the top of the draft page:
{{subst:submit}}
. Please let me know if you have any questions or comments below. Z1720 (talk) 01:42, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
Thank you for that, for some reason the only button I have been able to see is the submit changes. I have done as you have suggested and got a notification that it's now submitted for review. That's a new thing so that is good. Wait and see now!

Wikipedia and copyright
[edit]Hello Mexicajedi, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to Draft:Lorenzo DeStefano have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. All other images must be made available under a free and open license that allows commercial and derivative reuse to be used on Wikipedia.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Curbon7 (talk) 12:02, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
