WikiProject Dragonlance
Hey! Welcome to the WikiProject Dragonlance. Hope you enjoy yourself and I look forward to working with you. You might want to check out the tasklist for stuff to do. If you have any questions, direct them to me and I'll do my best. See ya! DoomsDay349 02:03, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
- Alright! Nice job. Glad to see you working :) DoomsDay349 02:21, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
Hey thanks for the comment. Currently I am working on a rewrite for the sturm article, I feel the old one does not give him enough credit. Tell me any thoughts Napster6 19:32, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
I'm talkable :)
Let me know what you'd like to talk about on my talk page. inigmatus 03:05, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

hey you snoop! :) ... yes I am interested, fire on! see you at he talk on mold mites. frummer 02:29, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
Hey
Thanks for the message. Yes, definitely, I'm wondering how to deal with the situation. Are requests for comment, etc., even an option? I'm imagining the regulars at those pages would overwhelm any poll. I'm pretty new on the contentious stuff here. Best, Mackan79 03:14, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
Hi, I think you can email me now, although it seems to be bugging out when I try to email you (maybe because I just registered). Feel free to try. Best, Mackan79 04:14, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
- Haha, well now she agreed to have somebody else do it for her instead :) I think she agreed to leave me alone now, though, so I won't be picking any more fights with her. Same to you, Mackan79 19:17, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
Thanks, same to you! I ran across the Hinduism thing, actually... looked like it was in control in any case. This one's just me trying to figure out how to get a page unprotected, if that's possible. You know, after you start getting involved in these articles, everything else seems pretty boring, doesn't it? Best, Mackan79 18:29, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
FYI, "good faith," at least legally, means "honest." I don't think you meant to tell Moshe you weren't being honest, maybe just that you weren't being as nice as you could have :) Which would be understandable... Mackan79 15:26, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
I'm free! Now I just have to figure out how the barnstars work. Thanks again for recognizing a raw deal when you see one :) Mackan79 14:13, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
Hey, so would Howard Dean's wife qualify under noted alumni as well? Just looking through your contribs :) Mackan79 02:29, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
Sigh... Did you look at the report? Six reverts in 29 hours, at the very least 5, and so far no response. This certainly is a weird environment sometimes... Mackan79 03:10, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
btw
It's Tomer, not Tom. Thanks. :-) Tomertalk 06:11, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
- Nope, Tomer is "whole" for something. It's the masculinized form of the name so-well known in the English speaking world as "Tamar" or "Tamara" [short: Tammy, Tami, etc.]. In Hebrew (תומר) it means simply "palm tree". :-) Tomertalk 06:22, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
Hey again. Do you know of a reference that details the efficacy of various parabens (specifically, Na-methyl- and Na-propyl-), Na-benzoate and chlorhexidines diacetate and digluconate? I'm looking for something that covers what concentrations are required to kill USP indicator organisms. [hmmm...looks like there's an article ripe for the writing...] :-) (A. niger, Candida albicans, B. subtilis, Staph. aureus, E. coli, Salmonella typhimurium, and P. aeruginosa. I also need a reference detailing increased or decreased efficacy resulting from a combination of the two aforementioned parabens. Any ideas where I can find what I need? Tomertalk 00:56, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
- Ya. I'll email you my sn. Tomertalk 05:09, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

- Link isn't spam and page has been updated. Thanks! MetsFan76 04:40, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
Hi, I was wondering why you removed the dab link. The Five Towns is a very well known phrase for Stoke-on-Trent and Bennett's work. If someone types in this phrase they will get something very different. What is the harm in a simple dab link to redirect them to the correct page? --Regan123 20:47, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- Hi..I'm not sure if you saw my edit summary regarding the removal of your dab, but the reason why I deleted it was because it is a completely different Five Towns from the one you are referring to. Maybe you could create a new article on the Five Towns you meant and then link it to the Five Towns, NY article? What do you think? MetsFan76 21:13, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- Hi again and thanks for the reply. I did see the edit summary. The problem is that Five Towns whilst notable as a phrase is not worthy of a seperate article from what is already covered in Arnold Bennett and Stoke-on-Trent. It is quite easiry covered in the two articles I put in the link. The other option I suppose would be to move Five Towns to Five Towns, New York and put in a dismabiguation page, but that's a whole lot off effort for one (whilst important) phrase. I just think a little link would do. Regan123 21:18, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- I thought it was "Six Towns." MetsFan76 21:21, 21 January 2007 (UTC)'
- It is as well. Because Bennett called it the Five Towns it kind of stuck. I'm from North Staffordshire and I grew up calling it the Five Towns. Frankly he caused a bit of a mess! --Regan123 21:23, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- :Oh ok. I grew up in the Five Towns in NY. This is a strange conundrum though and maybe I'm a bit confused. Are the towns actually called the "Five Towns" or is it because of an author? And were his works fiction? MetsFan76 21:27, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- They should be known as the Six Towns but the Five Towns has also become common. Five Towns started in his work of fiction, but because everyone knew he was talking about Stoke it kind of stuck. He based his novels on growing up in Stoke and this is what caused the issue. The BBC ran a film Anna of the Five Towns and the genie was well and truly out of the bottle. S they are commonly known as both. Don't worry it gets me confused after a while! --Regan123 21:31, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- Heh heh...ok fair enough. Feel free to re-insert the dab link! Cheers! MetsFan76 21:33, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks and a pleasure chatting. --Regan123 21:36, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
My RfA
Thanks for your kind support in my RfA. I've felt it best to withdraw on this occasion and think about the good advice I received. Thanks again, Jakew 19:55, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for replying. I think it would have been very close, if it had succeeded. More importantly, as several of those opposing suggested, I think I do need some more experience in the WP namespace. So I felt it was the right thing to do. Best wishes, Jakew 20:02, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

I dont know if it was you, or someone else that said it on the VP Discussion Page. But I'm pretty sure it shows up when you try to open up another link before the other one finished loading. I know its really annoying.--CWY2190TC 16:59, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

- I noticed your little editor war over the Balfour Declaration. You might be better off putting the text of the declaration on wikisource, and the linking it to the article. -- Kendrick7talk 19:37, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
Copyvio
Please be more careful when making revisions. The text you reverted on The Sims Life Stories was a copyright violation which was explained in my edit summary. Its a word for word copy of the text from the website, this is not appropriate for article content on wikipedia. Please see WP:COPYRIGHT for more information.--Crossmr 15:07, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

Please be civil on talk pages
Please be civil when editing, and please familiarize yourself with Wikipedia:Civility. Firsfron of Ronchester 22:05, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- Like I said, don't assume I was being incivil. Hopefully we can grow together and both learn WP:CIVIL. MetsFan76 22:07, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for your concilliatory tone on my talk page. I try whenever possible to be civil, and I hope you will, too. I understand your dismay at what was done with user:Worldtraveller's essay, but I think the claims of cabalism, etc, go too far. Firsfron of Ronchester 22:17, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- For the record, I never thought you were a bad guy. Like you, I hope something good will come out of the essay and the debates surrounding it; at the very least, I think it has highlighted some problems that should be addressed. I also hope that since the article was moved into "private" userspace, the edit wars which were occurring will cease. Best wishes and happy editing, Firsfron of Ronchester 22:56, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, MetsFan. Would you be willing to make your comment at WP:ANI? Perhaps someone might take note of it, and ask the right sort of questions about SlimVirgin's behavior. --Tsunami Butler 23:19, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
MetsFan76, my comment on AN/I concerned the fact that Tsunami Butler was misrepresenting the facts, and was acting in a antagonistic manner. Both of those issues go to the point of whether he should have been issued the warning. Someone who attacks another editor for innocent actions is at the very least failing to assume good faith, and at worst is disrupting the community. -Will Beback · † · 02:39, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
SlimVirgin's warning was just that, an alert that current behavior would no longer be tolerated. JerseyDevil pointed out how that warning could have been worded better, but the warning itself was legitimate. -Will Beback · † · 02:44, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
Again, see the comment by JerseyDevil which addressed that point. -Will Beback · † · 03:00, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
Yes. -Will Beback · † · 03:04, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
Yes, thanks for your input. SlimVirgin and Will Beback seem to be able to get away with murder, but let's not forget that not long ago, that seemed to be true of Essjay as well. As Martin Luther King said, the arc of history is long, but it bends toward justice. --Tsunami Butler 20:35, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
Hey
Just have to say you've been great to me on WP, and I hope my comment didn't come across in any unintended way. Best, Mackan79 14:41, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
About your email, you don't owe me any such thing. It is good to look out for your fellow editors. It's good to be sympathetic to their problems. Some people here don't seem to understand what empathy is, and prefer to be rude, dismissive, and generally hostile; instead of actually trying to listen and understand. You keep doing what you do my friend. You have just as much a right to comment as anyone else who did there. With deep respect. Tiamut 16:51, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

Perhaps everyone should simply withdraw their accusations, avoid commenting about editors, and move on to editing articles instead. This kind of drama is not helpful to Wikipedia. Jayjg (talk) 16:33, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

Disturbing sequence of AfD Votes
I am still disturbed that you are involved in Wikipedia:Wikistalking, based on a sequence of votes over the past few 24 hours. I would like an explanation for votes at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Frank Finnerty (2nd nomination), Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Parks Junior High School, when you have no connection to any of these articles. While I will take you at your word that this account is not a sockpuppet. You have not addressed the justification for the pattern of votes. Any further such actions without justification will be treated as harassment and reported as an incident. Alansohn 14:26, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
- Removal of material, even from your own user page, may be treated as vandalism. You still have not justified this rather disturbing sequence of AfD votes. Any further such actions will be treated as harassment. You have been warned. Alansohn 14:38, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
- I don't understand you. I just explained my "pattern" of AfD votes in that they were simply harmless. Unless you explain why my reasoning for my so-called "pattern" is not ok with you, then your "warning" is inappropriate. MetsFan76 14:42, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
- At the end of March, you participated in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School, one in which the two of us interacted. In April, you have only participated in three AfDs, all three of them after I had participated. These same three AfDs are the only AfDs I am currently participating in. There have been many other school-related AfDs that neither you nor I participated in; so far its only where I have jumped in before you. You have never edited any of those articles, and certainly shown no interest in your edit history on New Jersey elected officials. I guess this could be a coincidence of earth-shattering proportions, but the pattern seems extremely difficult to justify. Alansohn 15:50, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

Disquieting Actions
Thanks for your note. Given your experience and that of others (RGTraynor, for example) I am seriously thinking that a request for comment might be salutary. The level of contention and sheer animosity that has been unleashed recently is really unacceptable. I would welcome your thoughts. Eusebeus 23:23, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, I suspect we are of one mind on this. It is more serious than whining, however. Faced with people who disagree with him, he alarmingly frequently resorts to bully tactics: accusing others of bad faith (note how many times in our ongoing school debate he calls my comments "malicious personal attacks"). He also misrepresents other people's positions, showing a lack of consideration and respect that runs contrary to the consensus-building nature of the project. As his comments to you demonstrate as well, his pattern of response extends to abusive behaviour and a dismaying willingness to attempt to cow people through unsubstantiated and erroneous, if inflammatory, charges. Hence, I think an RFC would be a good remedial step to at least put this kind of behaviour to some kind of larger forum and collect opinion. Alan makes valuable contributions here - don't get me wrong. He is remarkably active. But his reaction to those with whom he disagrees is unacceptable. Eusebeus 23:33, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
- The problem is it takes a lot of time to mount an RFC, since it is a serious thing and should be the consequence of a joint action. If you are willing to help out, it might be worthwhile, though, given his pattern of behaviour. Eusebeus 00:18, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
- Banned from participating in AfD for a while should be the goal. Check out how many times he has accused me of personal attacks in the course of this bout. Unbelievable. Anyway, we can perhaps put together a list of diffs that illustrate the problem ask for input through an RfC. I think it is overdue. Eusebeus 00:35, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
- I agree. Do you think he should be told first that there will be an RfC regarding his actions? I noticed that your remarks at AN/I didn't really do much regarding his behavior. If anything, it seems like its intensified. I'm actually trying to figure out where all his animosity comes from. Do you think it's worth just trying to talk to him or are we past that? MetsFan76 00:43, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

- Indeed, it is standard procedure when proceeding, or contemplating proceeding, with an RfC to inform the people involved. I've dug around a bit and I see the problem is that Alan, while an excellent user when he is not in disagreement, becomes invariably disruptive, angry and offensive when he feels other editors are engaged in bad policy, judgment, etc... His approach to AfD is exemplary of this. Thus, the point is to work out some way that the bad editor who berates, insults and accuses can be separated from the good one who makes a very substantial contribution. There are certainly others who feel the same way, and there may certainly be those who will note Alan's remarkable activities, particularly with respect to the New Jersey project, as fully redemptive. Eusebeus 13:54, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
- Hey, nice to see you back. Alan is wikistalking me a little, so don't be surprised if you get charged with some hysterical accusation of personal attacks and all the usual adjectival whatnot that he keeps in his sock drawer. Anyway, the latest shenanigans seem to make an RfC even more compelling. I suggest it launch next week. Waddya think? Eusebeus 17:29, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
