Thanks

I caught that an article existed and went back to fix it, but you beat me to it. Thanks for fixing List of 3rdRock episodes. The funny thing is, I searched for it and could not find it, till after I started creating the redundant page. Thanks! --Maniwar (talk) 04:12, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Nobel lists: Country – ambiguous or not

There is currently a request for comments at Talk:Nobel Prize in Chemistry#RFC: Country – ambiguous or not to discuss whether the country column/data in the table of Nobel laureates is ambiguous or not. The results may affect all of the Nobel lists. Your comments in this matter would be appreciated. panda 08:12, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

장재중

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article 장재중, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Zeitgeist movie

I'm not sure how to find the admin who ultimately deleted the article, but I wanted to offer up a new source regarding the movie, and thought it was more appropriate to talk to an admin before trying a "Relist" through the Deletion Review page. The source is a web magazine called Reality Sandwich, and their review can be found at: http://www.realitysandwich.com/choose_your_illusion. This is a reputable magazine, unaffiliated with the movie in any way. I realize the movie violates copyright, but an expository article about the movie providing no actual hyperlinks would not tarnish Wikipedia in any way. The film is is clearly an internet sensation. I would appreciate some counsel as to what admin to talk to, or other advice about posting at WP:DRV. Thanks. AQMN 02:45, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

Problem with your "Category:Record labels" sortkey changes

Hello. I'm sure you meant well, but your recent changes to the sortkeys inside Category:Record labels, such as this one on Warner Music labels and six others, have reduced the value and navigability of the category page.

As was hinted by the HTML comment, described in the subcategories history, and explained at the main category's talk page, it was by design that a star-sortkey was attributed to the Big Four and the three indy sub-categories: they were still alphabetized, but regrouped under the "*" level of the main page, since they gather all record labels and belong together, and since a reader browsing categories (or an editor looking for them) will either want one on them among this group (if he's looking by company) or none of them among this group (if he's looking for something else). Thus, blending them in with the rest of subcategories isn't desirable and makes the page Category:Record labels less useful without benefice, IMO.

The point and the structures are better visually explained at the talk page, please comment/justify your edits there at followup Category talk:Record labels#Sortkey update, or revert. — Komusou talk @ 16:34, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

  • Sorry, I could not discern the structure at the time I made those edits, although I see where it came from now that I have seen the Category talk page. I may comment there later. --Metropolitan90 02:28, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
  • Thinking back, I think you actually made a good case for shoving the seven of them into the top Category:Record labels by parent I was pondering at the talk page ;-) So, no need to revert to the star-sortkeys, instead I'll refine them into the new top cat. This will put them in line with the three other "Record labels by ..." top subcategories, the underlying thing being that each top category contains (theoretically) all record labels (just sorted a different way each) and that each record label article should be filed into at least one from each of those top categories. — Komusou talk @ 03:48, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

About My Son Page That You Deleted

Hi Metropolitan90 I told you not to deleted my son page. You just made me mad! I said it was my son gift to him. He do have credited on IMDb but his tv director did not place his full information about his show yet so his credited remain in his IMDb Resume until more information from his tv director. My son first tv show that he film in 1980 was "Christmas Through the Eyes of Children". My son credited is here: IMDb Resume Also there no hard feeling and my son will understand that he can't have a page on Wikipedia yet but there still time in the future. Is that right?

  • Just want to let you know that Edmund K Lo is an internet troll and is delusional about being an actor and singer. You will never see any proof of him "starring" in anything. The most he will be is just a face in a crowd. He was in the crowd once when they were filming a concert so that makes him think it means he guest starred in it.Truesora 19:28, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for participating in the RFC: Country data in Nobel lists. Please keep in mind that RFCs are not votes, but an attempt to reach consensus. Could you please revisit the RFC and include a rationale with your comment? It would also be helpful if you could answer the question listed under Clarification & Questions related to 3.1 or 3.2. Thanks! –panda 22:38, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi Metropolitan90, The List of Sydney suburbs/table (A-M) page can probably be deleted. It has served its purpose for the immediate problem it was meant to solve (creating the needed redirects and finding duplicates). The only potential remaining use is in the "Suburb, Australia" column (makes it easy to check that these are all either non-existent, or disambig pages, or redirects to the relevant Sydney suburb). But in reality, I don't think it's being used for that, and the incoming links are pretty content-free, and the history shows that it hasn't had much useful done to it recently either. So, I'm inclined to say "delete", but will be happy with whatever decision you make. -- All the best, Nickj (t) 08:37, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

You're a sysop

Hi, Metropolitan90/Archive 5, Congratulations on Becoming a Sysop!

Hey there. I'm pleased to let you know that, consensus being reached, you are now an administrator! You've volunteered to do housekeeping duties that normal users sadly cannot participate in. Sysops can't do a lot of stuff: They can't delete pages just like that (except patent nonsense like "aojt9085yu8;3ou"), and they can't protect pages in an edit war they are involved in. But they can delete random junk, block anonymous vandals, delete pages listed on articles for deletion for more than 5 days (provided there's a consensus), protect pages when asked to, and keep the few protected pages that exist on Wikipedia up to date.

Almost anything you can do can be undone, but please take a look at The Administrators' how-to guide and the Administrators' reading list before you get started (although you should have read that during your candidacy ;). Take a look before experimenting with your powers. Also, please add Administrators' noticeboard to your watchlist, as there are always discussions/requests for admins there. If you have any questions drop me a message at My talk page. Have fun! =Nichalp «Talk»=
PS Please add you name to WP:LA!

Re:Special pages

Well, I already figured. By the way, I found a rare one called Deleted contributions. Is it true that only administrators can view that special page? TobytheTramEngine 03:00, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

I guess it is, but I didn't click it because I'm afraid it would carry the message to non-administrators: Permission error: The action you have requested is limited to the group of administrators. TobytheTramEngine 18:10, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

I don't know if this changes anything but wanted to let you know that I've discovered what the country data is supposed to be in the Nobel lists. You can find it under the point Country data defined in RFC: Country data in Nobel lists. –panda 15:05, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Yes, but!

Yes, I understand that it kinda stuffs it up, but admins can still see the page that it would have redirected to, and that stays as a link, so I don't see it doing such a bad thing, as it greatly speeds up the process, as always clicking to the first space is well to be honest annoying. But as you see, I only tag those ones with more than 1 revision, as the bot will delete the rest. Um, yeah I hope you don't mind me continueing to add it to the middle, if it is that bad, please tell me your concerns. Thanks again! Phgao 13:30, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

A Mi Manera

Listen, A Mi Manera is a show that Televisa has produced and it will be shown in 2008. I'm sorry for confusing the dates. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Empezardesdecero123 (talkcontribs)

Worldtraveller

Hi - I don't know if you know the history behind this edit, but my guess is that it's actually Worldtraveller editing from this IP. I'm attempting to verify this (by email) and will delete the page if I get an email confirmation. -- Rick Block (talk) 03:52, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

  • Eventually I figured out that that might be a possibility. The oddity is that even after deleting his talk page and not editing for seven months, he still gets comments on his talk page about his past edits. I will leave it to you or other admins to help him exercise the right to vanish. Perhaps a warning should be placed on his talk page instead, to say something like: "This user has left Wikipedia. Don't post to this talk page anymore." --Metropolitan90 03:58, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
Ah, but for such a warning to be there the page must exist. I'm sure you see the problem. -- Rick Block (talk) 04:17, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
And, per WP:WBFAN this is no ordinary editor we're talking about. -- Rick Block (talk) 04:20, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

Re: Kem lambaian danau

If you wish to restart the article, and present the information in English, so that people who use the English Wikipedia could use the information, that would be great! However, there are other Wikipedias in other languages; if you wish to post in the language the article was in, I am quite sure THAT Wikipedia would love to have this article. --Jayron32|talk|contribs 16:02, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

  • I believe you may have misinterpreted my request. You tagged the article to say "This page may meet Wikipedia’s criteria for speedy deletion. The reason given is: it is a foreign language article that exists on another Wikimedia project (CSD A2)". But as far as I could tell, Kem lambaian danau did not exist on another Wikimedia project. I couldn't find it on the most likely choices, the Malay Wikipedia and the Indonesian Wikipedia. So if the article didn't exist on another Wikimedia project, it shouldn't have been tagged as {{db-notenglish}}. I wouldn't be able to contribute anything about this topic, since I don't know Malay or Indonesian and I have no idea what the article was about. --Metropolitan90 02:23, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
    • Ah, so sorry. I couldn't even identify the language to bring a translator on board. I am sorry if the article should have been kept, and if my db caused it to be deleted inappropriately. Perhaps a deletion review is in order? I was not aware of the finer points of the db-notenglish tag. For my own edification, what should be done in the future to articles that are plainly not-english, like this one, but do not have similar articles on another Wikipedia?--Jayron32|talk|contribs 06:08, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles. as you did with [[:{{{1}}}]]}}. If you do not believe the article should be deleted, then please place {{hangon}} on the page (please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag) and make your case on the article's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. Porcupine (see my userpage for details) 08:52, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

Formatting not so good, but you get the point.--Porcupine (see my userpage for details) 08:53, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

Could you actually just delete it or close it or something? The page is really stupid and an abuse of process.--Porcupine (see my userpage for details) 08:58, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

You would probably be better off asking for assistance at WP:ANI instead. WP:SSP is not my field of expertise. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 09:07, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

OK, it's at ANI.--Porcupine (see my userpage for details) 09:09, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

Jessie Coleman

That was the first article I wrote Jessie Coleman and should of had more sense stating who and what she is right in the beginnig. It is still up for deletion but hopefully it will stay up. Thanks for the help Xscapefilms 04:28, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Talk:Julia Compton Moore

There was actually a sub page (Talk:Julia Compton Moore/Comments) that was tagged for a housekeeping csd. It was deleted already, so it's all taken care of. - Crockspot 13:56, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

I note that you deleted the above article on A7 grounds. Do you read whatever Scandinavian language it was written in? Dsmdgold 02:27, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

  • No, I used an online Norwegian-English translator, which wasn't much help. But as far as I could tell, the article was about a salesperson in the telecommunications business, which seemed to be pretty far from a claim to notability. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 02:41, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

If you would be so kind as to delete please, thank you. Tiptoety 06:10, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

  • The article has been tagged for speedy deletion, which means that any of the 1300+ administrators on the English Wikipedia has the ability to see it is listed and delete it if they choose. Placing the speedy delete tag on the article should be enough to get the article deleted, if indeed it deserves to be deleted, without requiring requests to particular admins. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 06:16, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Thank you, i am aware of that, and tag articles often. The fact was this one was tagged longer than most. Next time i will not ask for your help, Cheers. Tiptoety 19:14, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

An editor has asked for a deletion review of GOOOH_-_Get_Out_of_Our_House. Since you closed the deletion discussion for this article or speedy-deleted it, you might want to participate in the deletion review. Bogdan Odulinski (talk) 06:06, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

  • I didn't close that discussion or speedily delete the article. I nominated it for deletion, though. The group appears to have received more media coverage since then but I don't know if that's enough to justify restoring the article. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 14:05, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
