Getting Started
Please Unblock Anonymizer.com IP Blocks
Metavalent (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
Please consider unblocking known anonymizer.com IP addresses. Unfortunately, I don't get assigned the same IP address every time, so I can't request unblocking of only one IP address. I believe allowing anonymizer.com is reasonable because unlike TOR and others, anonymizer is a Commercial, Off The Shelf service that has a long history of responsible management of individual and corporate identity and privacy protection. If I've missed a better or preferred process for addressing this block in my reading up on the topic, please to let me know so that I can better understand how this particular policy works. Thank you.
Decline reason:
Open proxies are routinely blocked less because they're open proxies and more because the defect in them lies between keyboard and chair. Because Wikipedia tracks anons by their IP addresses, an anonymizing proxy is in effect a method of block evasion, and in most cases vandals use open proxies specifically for this reason. For more information, see Wikipedia:Open proxies. Please do not use the {{unblock}}
template unless you yourself are blocked. -Jeremy (v^_^v Stop... at a WHAMMY!!) 18:09, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
Sorry I didn't quite get the unblock command usage right, thanks for clarifying, and thank you very much for the quick response; although it is highly disappointing that the bad behavior you describe has successfully ruined everyday use of security best practices for the rest of us. I suppose it is what it is. Hope it's okay to leave these notes here as a future reminder for myself. Thanks again.
- No worries, my friend. -Jeremy (v^_^v Stop... at a WHAMMY!!) 18:31, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
Active?
[edit]Not sure you are still active, but I am working on a couple articles and had some questions. The article ETTH and Michael Silverton were edited in 2006 saying there was a residential Ethernet plan back in 1991 in Phoenix. There were no sources, so I was not able to verify this. I am trying to consolidate these topics into an article with citations. If you hae any sources we can use to verify this, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
