Welcome
[edit]Hi @Metalbro: welcome to Wikipedia!
I've recently reverted edits you made to Suffer Tree, In The Skin, and Boss Buckle EP. It's not because I don't think your contributions are valuable, but because subjects of articles on Wikipedia must demonstrate notability and must be verifiable. Articles demonstrate this by citing to secondary and reliable sources. Don't worry, your work is preserved in the pages' revision history. I suggest you begin to draft these articles in the WP:AfC draft space. There, the standard is lower to maintain an article and work in it while it is prepared for mainspace. Editors there will be able to assist you in drafting and citing sources, and will move it once it is ready. You might also find some album specific guidance at WP:NALBUMS. If you have any questions, you can respond to me here by starting your reply with {{ping|MicrobiologyMarcus}}
so that I'll be notified you responded to me.

- I am very new to this, do I need put something in to where I got the information because some of the details are in the main band page? Metalbro (talk) 14:43, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
- Exactly! Any information you add must be cited using references, so that they will appear inline and also at the bottom of the page.
- You should also add more content than just a track listing. Here's the list of some things that can demonstrate an article is notable enough to be listed:
Extended content

All articles on albums or other recordings should meet the basic criteria at the notability guidelines, with significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. Specific to recordings, a recording may be notable if it meets at least one of these criteria:
Notability aside, a standalone article is only appropriate when there is enough material to warrant a reasonably detailed article; articles unlikely ever to grow beyond stubs should be merged into the artist's article or discography. References |

- Okay, but as this is an EP from their early career, there isn't much I cant write about as it would have been a release before they got more famous and well known Metalbro (talk) 15:30, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, that just means the subject isn't notable and isn't yet ready for an article. Consider the guidance Album articles with little more than a track listing may be more appropriately merged into the artist's main article or discography article, space permitting. Maybe an article at 36 Crazyfists discography would be better suited as a collection of track listings. microbiologyMarcus (petri dish•growths) 15:34, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
- Can you explain what you mean by, "Maybe an article at 36 Crazyfists discography would be better suited as a collection of track listings"
- The reason I want to do this is because fans like to see what the track listing is albums/eps/live albums etc.
- Sorry I am new to doing all of this, I didn't realize it would be this tricky Metalbro (talk) 15:39, 29 November 2023 (UTC)

Hey, not a problem, happy to help. The reason the Wikipedia community does this is because sometime ago, editors agreed that there can't be an article on everything—the line has to be drawn somewhere. What they landed on (by consensus) is that to have an article on the project, a subject has to be notable.
Who decides what's notable? Not us, actually. Wikipedia compiles information already published by secondary and reliable sources and uses the existence of that coverage to (1) determine that the content is actually suitable for an article on Wikipedia and (2) that the information is correct and verifiable by providing inline citations.
How do I demonstrate notability? You can demonstrate notability by citing to sources that cover the production of the album, the reception of the album, its reviews, its placement on a national music chart, anything on the list covered at WP:Notability (music) generally supports the idea that an album is notable and deserves its own article.
What happens if I can't demonstrate notability? I want to include this info somewhere. As you found above, sometimes things just inherently aren't notable. If you can't find things to cite to when writing an article about the subject, then it just means that the subject of that article doesn't meet the threshold as described above, and won't get it's own article. It's fine, that's not a problem: in your case, there are plenty of artists who have some albums that get their own page, but some others don't. I've found the page for The Coral and their respective discography page. Notice how each of their albums has it's own article page and on each page, there's a section with production and reception? This is how those pages have demonstrated notability. All of the albums, except for their most recent Holy Joe's Coral Island Medicine Show. That's because sources don't exist yet to demonstrate that the subject of that article yet deserves it's own page (you'll notice that notability is not inherited). And that's fine, as that information about track listings can be included somewhere else. In your case, it'd suggest making 36 Crazyfists discography and listing all the info you want there about track listings and length.
I hope that helps. microbiologyMarcus (petri dish•growths) 16:42, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
- Okay I think I understand now. So the article is on the main page about each album, Which would warrant a link to the album
- Isn't there already a 36 Crazyfists discography? Metalbro (talk) 16:51, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
- I've begun the page Draft:36 Crazyfists discography with an infobox and some section headers for different things to include. What you can do is now include all your information from Special:Diff/1187457395, Special:Diff/1187466614, Special:Diff/1187464721, and Draft:Demo '99 in the relevant sections on that page. Further, you'll notice I've included an inline citation to a factual statement in the article. You can see how including the information and link inline produces that typical number-in-brackets above the text that is so common throughout Wikipedia, and places all information in a references section at the bottom of the page. If you need more help with this, you can always refer to WP:REFB for more help. Specifically, take a look at the section Help:Referencing for beginners § RefToolbar as this will generate a popup that lets you type all the information in yourself without having to worry about the behind-the-scenes formatting. microbiologyMarcus (petri dish•growths) 17:12, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you, I will take a look and have a go.
- I will add the EP's, and their track times.
- I will message when you to see what you think Metalbro (talk) 17:23, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
- I have made some changes, what do you think, will it look good to go live on the 36 Crazyfists page? I only want to add song details in for albums and ep's that have no wiki page Metalbro (talk) 22:05, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
- Hi. What do you think of my draft? I have done another discography with another band but having issues with it as well Metalbro (talk) 15:12, 30 November 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for your contributions to Demo '99. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no sources. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. ✠ SunDawn ✠ (contact) 14:29, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
