Welcome
[edit]Welcome!
Hello, Messanger, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- Tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Manual of Style
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}}
on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!
You may want to review the information on Wikipedia User Pages. This page is for people to leave notes for you, so redirecting it to an article is not appropriate. Fan-1967 20:32, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
Messanger reply:are you a machine´ or just a page that the system redirect to all new wikidians check your heart beat before answering the previous question. i m just learning / experimenting the sandbox possibilities.
- I don't think I'm a machine. Nope, flesh and blood. A number of us keep an eye out for new users, or people who seem to be having trouble or doing odd things, like redirecting their user pages to an article. ( Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
- Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
- With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.
Thank you.) Fan-1967 20:51, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
I don't think you managed to upload any picture successfully. Including a picture is easy, once you have it uploaded:

Links
[edit]Internal links (double brackets, and make sure you get upper/lower case right):
- [[NYSE]] -- links as NYSE
- [[NYSE|New York Stocks]] -- links as New York Stocks (same link, different title)
- Use vertical bar to separate link from title
External (single brackets, or none at all):
- http://www.nyse.com -- links as http://www.nyse.com
- [http://www.nyse.com] -- links as [1]
- [http://www.nyse.com New York Stock Exchange] -- links as New York Stock Exchange
- Use space to separate link from title.
You'll get the hang of it. The links in the Welcome message above should help. Fan-1967 21:42, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
"could mean bigger user/viewer flow = cash "
[edit]Uh, you might want to read Our policy on external links. Links that look like spamming tend to get removed pretty quickly. Articles that get created here to try to direct people to other sites also tend to have a short lifespan. Wikipedia is not a free bulletinboard. Fan-1967 21:54, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
