Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Merliniman, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you created or edited appears to be an article about yourself. Creating an autobiography is a common mistake made by new Wikipedians—as this is an encyclopedia, we wouldn't expect to have an article about every contributor. Your user page, however, is a great place to write about yourself, making sure to stay within user page guidelines. Just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit it normally.

The page you created about yourself may well be deleted from the encyclopedia. If it is deleted and you wish to retrieve its contents, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page. If your contributions to an existing article about yourself are undone and you wish to add to it, please propose the changes on its talk page.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. Please unlock this posting. I apologize for misunderstanding the guidelines and no reading them thoroughly. I skimmed the guidelines but missed the one that said I couldn't use WIKI to cite the article. I would like to just remove ALL citings leaving the "guts" of the article/autobiography and find sources that are allowable.

My frustration led to the misunderstanding, first the article was rejected b/c it is an autobiography written by the author. Actually, I am Julie and do most of Merlin Iman's writing, social media, and PR. I set up the account under his name so he would maintain control of the writing after I got the 1st version established. Even after reading the guidelines I still don't understand why an AUTOBIOGRAPHY is not an article and why it should be posted as a PROFILE.

Then things got more confusing when I couldn't upload a photo of Merlin taken by us even after trying multiple shots, or a logo for True Too Life Productions created and illustrated by myself, or upload much of Merlin's art that was completed by him, etc

Please tell me how to proceed and where/how to file this under the correct "page" for WIKI. Please excuse my lack of understanding, although I am a techie and have done web development since the 90's, your guidelines are cumbersome and tough to read, digest, and understand. I am hoping you have a more "simplified" version of guidelines that you could point me to?

I have prevented the block from expiring since the username violates Wikipedia's username policy. If you are not Merlin Iman, then your username should not give the impression that you are him. See WP:IMPERSONATION for details. You should also review the disclosure requirements for paid editors at WP:COIPAYDISCLOSE. Huon (talk) 20:01, 1 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your submission at Articles for creation: Merlin Iman (December 1)

[edit]
Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed! Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by BrownHairedGirl was:

==WP:AUTOBIOGRAPHY - when reviewing CELEB wikis I thought they were being done by themselves or those close to them. How are other CELEB, Film, Actor WIKI's being done? ==WP:RS - may I use IMDb? and other references online? ==inappropriate external links - I am happy to fix after reading the guidelines but need access to the draft. AGAIN, I would like to begin again with just the raw text of the article and try again at the LINKS and CITINGS. ==WP:MOS - I finally found a FILM / ACTOR project but can't get into it because of the blocking - I would like to reformat to adhere to the project. ==WP:MOSBIO - would providing this rough draft to a Biography Project or Film / Actor project be within the guidelines? Also, I have spent days on this and it seems from every angle I'm being told I can't post - autobiography, promo, impersonation, self profile, biography, etc * PLEASE * PLEASE * PLEASE just tell me how I CAN post. All info in the original article is TRUE, not an impersonation, or boasting/promo - HOW CAN WE PROCEED?
