Copyright problem on Youssef Chahine
[edit]Your additions to the above article include passages copied verbatim or nearly verbatim from a non-free source. This was detected by automatic plagiarism detection software. An editor has re-worked the content. Please review the Plagiarism and Copyright training module before proceeding further. Thanks. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 21:22, 29 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Diannaa:, this student didn't edit the article - did you mean this to go on another person's page or was this the wrong article? Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 20:50, 7 May 2019 (UTC)
- Sorry, it was a copypaste error. The correct article was Youssef Chahine. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 20:51, 7 May 2019 (UTC)
- @Diannaa:, Can you take a look at the material? They're stating that the material wasn't closely paraphrased enough to be an issue. I've restored the material for the time being so I can really run it through Earwig, but I'd really appreciate you taking a look yourself and if you think it's necessary, reverting my restoration as needed. - Please compare revision 894493930 with the current location of the document https://www.aub.edu.lb/doctorates/recipients/Pages/chahine-profile.aspx and you will see what the problem is. Handy link to Earwig comparison report — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 21:25, 7 May 2019 (UTC)
Close paraphrasing
[edit]Hello, I received a notification that you had posted material that closely paraphrased content that had previously been published elsewhere to your article. This is seen as a copyright issue and plagiarism, even if you were to include the original source as a citation. Always be careful when writing article content - a good way to avoid doing this is to take notes while reading and write your article from those notes.
Unless the material is explicitly marked as falling into the public domain or was released under a compatible Creative Commons license, it should be assumed that the content is copyrighted in a way that would prohibit it from being used verbatim elsewhere. It's always best to write things in your own words, as this can help prevent issues like this from arising. I would like for you to review the module on plagiarism and copyright, thanks.
