A tag has been placed on H2Olympia requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. {{adminhelp}}

My page was deleted, so I re-wrote the page with (hopefully) the corrections needed to have the page be approved this time.

My re-write is at User:MemeGirl/H2Olympia where do I send it???

Ahoy. Ye'll not as be needin' an admin fer this, so I'll have a look now, an' I'll write yer some feedback here before ye can say Captain Jack. (Within 10 minutes) Yar.  Chzz  ►  00:22, 19 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Feedback:

  • I'm not sure if it is about "H2Olympia" or the "Artesian Well Advocates" - it needs be clear about what the subject is, and that should be the name of the page, and in bold at the beginning.
  • The first bit - which comes before any == Sections == - is called the lede, and it should be a summary of the rest of the article - a short summary of what it is all about. There shouldn't be anything in the lede that is not explained in detail in the body. Check that link, WP:LEDE, for more on that.
  • "the potential closure" - can that be explained a bit more (from reliable sources, of course)
  • "The Jefferson Street Well" - should be a lower-case "w". Section titles shouldn't have unnecessary capitals - unless it's a proper noun, but I don't think it is? Same for "History of Advocacy" should be "History of advocacy". (These kinds of guidance are in the WP:MOS, the 'manual of style)
  • There are some problems with the referencing; they don't necessarily cover the facts presented. Let me explain with an example; "unable to achieve that goal. They disbanded and wrote an open letter" - and that is referenced to the letter itself. References are there to allow the reader to verify the facts. The letter should go into a section at the end called 'External links' (ie to provide further information, per WP:EL), not as a reference.
  • "Without the testing, the water would not be able to be used by the public and the well access would have been closed." - without any independent reliable source, this appears to be original research, which is not permitted
  • Last sentence, "Members of...", is unreferenced; is this covered in any newspapers or anything?

I hope that this helps guide you, to realize that we can only present verifiable 'facts' with reliable sources.

May yer mainsail be full, an' if yer has more'n questions, then ye'll be welcome ter join us on the bridge. Yar!  Chzz  ►  00:47, 19 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. Yer can get advice from other scurvy landlubbers in WP:FEED, so you can. Yarrr.  Chzz  ►  00:52, 19 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
